Looks like a pretty busy time that weekend,Tariks is on Sunday the 29th, Pat Cristofi's comeback show is on the 28th at the Westend Hotel & its rumoured that Keith Ellis may be doing a pro boxing show on the 27th at Festival Hall.

Barry Micheal has a fightnight on the 10th of August also,you cant say melbourne isnt starved of choice now.

Don't mind kickboxing either Khys, PREFER Muay Thai, just don't like what I have seen in Melbourne in KB.

Went to a show down here recently, didn't impress me 1 bit. (correction, the PROMOTION was Spectacular, and I told the promoter that first hand, the fights weren't IMHO). Have also attended a few Solak shows in the past. Whereas Jabout's boys who I've seen fight a few times now, to ME are more entertaining, and there was also going to be some FTR fights..

With respect mate, these guys are more entertaining IMHO than the shows in Melbourne Kickboxing.

For me, I'll pay to see Muay Thai before Kickboxing. And unfortunately for me I probably wont make Sydney for this show but will most likely make it for JNI's on the 15th... PLENTY of FTR fights on that and I'll pay my way to go see them.

i understand what your saying about the state of kickboxing in melbourne but as you said there are plenty of good fighters out there like johnson scerri foley etc. wheather it be kickboxing or muaythai a good fight is agood fight. it just seems you are constantly comparing the two. just of the topic slightly you are quick to point out when a thai fighter defeats a kickboxer like the recent tramsek and maschachef [spelling] fight well there are a few that go the other way even under thai or mod thai rules and one that comes to mind is amrani against parr. it dosent mean his style is superior just the better man on the day. just my opinion no offence intended i just like all styles of fighting as long as the fighters are well skilled i dont believe the style really matters.

I don't recollect enterting into the Danny Mck v Tramsek decision Khys.

Let me say this though Khys, I have respect for ANYONE that gets in the ring, male AND female, my "dislike" for want of a better term to do with KB is more the attitude of the fans, not those that fight. But hey, that's just my opinion. Again I expressed this to the promoter of the recent show I went to.

But also I do beleive, again IMHO that a good Thai fighter will still beat a KB fighter, even under KB rules, but that's just my opinion..

I agree, everyone is saying Muay Thai this Kickboxing that, I enjoy watching the fights, KB, MT FTR, I did hear someone saying a recent show was ****, the fighters just swinging, not enough skill, you have to remember for this sport to move ahead we need the general public to come and watch the fights, not just the fighters,trainers & their friends. I think in Melb people love seeing two fighters swing and go for it. If you show them tapes from Thailand, they will get bored. Tariks shows are good from a punters view, this is who makes the sport move ahead. I suppose if all the fighters could fight on all promotions that would make it better.

Why don't Kickboxers fight Kickboxers & Thai Fighters fight Thai Fighters. Surly their are enough fighters around, if some-one wants to have a go at different rules good on them, this is Aus not Thailand.

kickboxers can duck and roll punches, and get inside kicking range without worrying about 6 weapons (punches, knees & elbows). so its a completely different game. due to this, kickboxers can get inside range and go berzerk with punches, as they know unless the opponent is a great kicker, theyre not gettin any kicks, and if they do its not going to hurt due to lack of range. The ducking and rolling also disguises the loading of the power shot, unlike muaythai we must use footwork or fake shots to load without being read by the opponent, we cannot drop out heads incase of the knee on the up.

i will not fight kickboxing, unless its extremely necessary.. as much as people view it as being similar, at times they seem worlds apart and i dont want to have 2 adjust my style for a fight.

Firstly, there is no point comparing MT to KB. They are 2 different games.

But P-Dynamo's point is correct. He said that MOST thai fighters can't punch their way out of a wet paper bag. Of course you can name JWP, Carnage, etc, who have good hands. But we are talking about MT fighters in the main, and in the main P-Dynamo is 100% correct.

Since we are talking about specific fights, Jenk Behic defeated Daniel Dawson, Mike Cope, under KB rules. Baris Nezif smashed Preacher twice under KB rules. Mike Cope did beat Zambidis, but that was with a clinch and a knee to the face. Zambo would smash Cope and Parr if no knees are allowed.

No sure I agree in general Hitman, as I have seen Turk vs Turk before.

However I am pretty sure that you will never see Baris vs Gurkan. These two guys along with Tarik trained together as kids, with Jemal Hassan, so I don't see this event happening at all, far to much repect for one another.

I believe Ticktek has made an error on their website, as it is displayed Nezif Vs Ozkan on there.

Wow! that will be a fight to see. Maybe they are trying to see who will be the best turk in that weight division. And the winner go to Turkey again...mmmm..I think it is a very smart match up...I know who my money will be on...Regardless they are both Turks and have trained together in brotherhood at the end of the day it is business and a fight is a fight...
