Although I didn't go and it appears there has been some rather contrasting opinions of the show - I'd like to quickly address a positive this show has given :

Although there is some voiced opinions of the mis / match etc.. undercard.. honestly I think I've never seen k.boxing advertised on prime time t.v.. postered up in EVERY Melbourne suburb.. in The Age.. on Channel 10 news, reported on Sports Tonight etc.. my point ? Isn't this the boost kickboxing needs to be recognised in Australia as a growing sport !! I've never seen this much exposure to a unique fighting art in this country over 1 single event. Doesn't this mean things can only get bigger.. cards get more competitive..

Lets hope so!

Absolutly

Check out the papers today if you haven't already guys.
There was about 3 different daily press photographers shooting last night also.

I think this was the first time ever me seeing the papers at a kickboxing show during the last 3 or so years I've been going.

Outstanding work to all concerned.

Tarik, Tayfun, Michael Schiavello and Hammer.

It's through all the concerted efforts from both the regular forms of media, and also the web that got such a huge venue near full.

Lets hope it keeps growing.

Newbloke and Paul -
I understand exactly were you are coming from - the only problem is in this sense, it seems we have in a way shot ourselves in the foot.

Me and my die hard boys, (5 of us who have been training, fighting and going to all major, and most minor shows for the last ten + years) managed to bring along 6 'virgin' viewers ie: first time at ANY kickboxing show - the amount of coaxing and persuasion we put into it was enormous! 'Zam will be fighting, Stan will smash Ozkan etc etc'
EVERY ONE of them has vowed NEVER, repeat NEVER come again!!!
They thought most of the fights were rubbish! - they loved ZAM - and could not work out what all the fuss was about re STan?
The bloody flames were f%&*^%&ng anoying beyond belief!!!! **** get rid of them!!!!
I sincerely hope the blokes from the paper did not see things the same way our virgin boys did. Remember, they dont know the figting game or the people - which is why they thought Tarik was a complete ****er!!
'Who is this wanabe ****head??' Eddie McQuire or something??" was one of the comments -
