View Full Version : Is Kickboxing Real?

Gotta say, that whole show reminded me of the WWF last night.
2 mintue bull**** rounds are ****house - Stan was hopeless absolutely hopeless. He looked like he was - an old man.
Ozkan obviously carried him, it was a staring contest the whole fight, then Ozkan comes out in that last round and ends it in 10 seconds. he coulda done that from the start. Stan is/was a shot fighter.
And that beanpole who fought Zambidis? Did he even THROW a punch or a kick? he was abolutely hopeless and just let himself get hit. Yea Zam is good, but its better when opponents actually fight back.
headhunter isnt that good - had enuff trouble with an ordinary Muay thai fighter who wasnt allowed to use his strengths under kickboxing rules.
I thought the whole show stunk last night. i definitely felt ripped off.
Tarik the ego maniac said in his monologue (after he told us 50 times how good he is and how he is the best thing since sliced bread) that he is going into rock concerts. good, better that than fake shows like last night.
Stan looked shot. But Ozkan didn't carry him. He just wore him down. Did u seriously expect a good fight of Zambidis and Winberg? There was never going to be a good fight apart from the final.
and it ended in the 8th I beleive of a 10 round fight, not last round.

It was finished in the 9th, what i meant by "THAT last round" was the last round of the fight in the end, which ended up being the 9th.
And on Zam, yea i know it was a mismtach, but I thought that Finish bloke would have at least thrown ONE piece of offensive arsenal. He was simply a sitting duck, perhaps paid to lose I dunno.
Ozkan wore nobody down, he did absolutely nothing but walk around the ring for 8 rounds. That 9th was the only round there was actual action within the first minute of the round. It was a farce, and many people walking out of vodafone commented on this.
I disagree with what you say. Gurkan wore him down. Stan wouldn't have dropped with a leg kick in the first round would he? He hit and moved around a lot. But wearing him down just doesn't mean punches but also fitness. Ie Stan didn't have much air left in the end which made for an easier kill.
Yeah Winberg could have thrown a punch. But it looked like he was more concerned with standing there taking shots for as many rounds as he could. Pretty dissapointing. Would have been a better fight with Baris in there. Or Baris's last opponent Alexey. I really didn't expect it to go more than a few rounds, and I hadn't even seen Winberg fight before. Big mismatch.
But maybe they wanted the easy fight cause Zam has to be primed in 2 weeks when he takes on Albert Kraus in Japan. And they know that regardless of who he fights the crowds will come.

JANER!! are you saying Fadi doesnt know how to throw a punch???
didn't you see the intro tape???
Fadi throws a straight left - pause for 2 seconds - then a right - pause for 2 seconds - then a half hook - pause for 2 seconds - then a left - pause for 2 seconds - then a right - pause for 2 seconds - then a half hook - pause for 2 seconds / they had to cut and repeat the original take to make it long enough for viewing as Fadi was puffed out and had to go eat a bucket of Kentucky while trying on his new fake leather jacket that he was going to wear at the after party.

Tarik did it again. crap undercard, shocking mainevent. and somehow i dont think hes the biggest and best promoter in the world. cuz Bannon, lucy tui, phon, kelly seif, boonchu put on much more entertaining shows than tarik and thats just australia.

Sorry to say, but to be honest i was yawning by the end of the show.
I never really mean to bag anyone who has enough courage to have a go in the ring, but, Haddara and Aumitagi, these guys are supposed to be professional fighters, I dont know what you fellas think but the amount of fitness they had was a disgrace, nothing against them, but if i was a pro. and i knew a big show was coming up that i might be ask to compete in, i'd be doing my 10km run in the morning or if i had to work i'd be doing at least 5km after work and then the usual pads and sparring 6 months beforehand, it looked as though these blokes had 30 mins notice to fight, you may not agree with me, but it's exhibitions like last night that make boxers laugh at us kickboxers.
Winberg, well....no knees in the fight...probably i'd say because of his height and Zambidis lack of it,there's no denighing Zambidis punching power and speedy combinations and he won easily, maybe the rules were no knees so that there wasnt as much risk of cuts so the fight didnt get in the way of his upcoming bout with Albert Clause ?.
I'm glad Gurkan won, I was backing him.
I have to say in my opinion to sum the show up as a whole, the k-1 max was 100 times more exciting and a brilliant exhibition of skill...and it was free to watch??.:)

Fox also does shows by: LUCY TUI... RICHARD BRADFORD... RAY MATSUMURA... KELLY SEIF... PHON MARTDEE... SCOTT BANNAN... ULTIMATE... NUGGET... not only Tarik's shows. In fact in 2002 Fox took on more of other shows than of Tarik's alone.
what about the guy that fought in the undercard?
I don't know his name ( THE ISLANDER IN THE BLACK THAT LOST TO THE GUY FROM BULLDOG) I THINK THAT HE WOULD HAVE PUT UP A BETTER FIGHT THAN FADI.
