Hi All,
We have 3 boys from our end going up against some of the local gyms.
Dion, Silim & Ryhula.
Mae lin haven't fought for over a year and she is hungry for this fight.
Yusha Ozha is a strong puncher, I have seen his right hand and his left upper cut perfect when they land. He is up against Pich Sophan.
Yoshi vs Chantar another awsome fight.
See you all there.

Fingers crossed should be back to full training within 2-3 weeks, and then hopefully I can get matched up somewhere.

I know ive wished Kate good luck but im going to again - her opponent Mai Lin weighed in 2kg over the agreed weight. Kates usually 57 so ML's going to have a nice little weight advantage now!
Can i ask anyone why a trainer would let their fighter go to a weigh in knowing they were going to weigh in way above the agreed weight?

good first event by the kun khmer team with some great battles the two international fights were both wars yusha ozhan vs sophan pich was a very close fight that i probably would of given to sophan if he had not been koed in the last 4 seconds of the 5th rnd welldone ozhan looks very promising and the ueda vs chanta was a war elbows flying and some really nice combos by both men loved chantas kicks not sure on end result was busy chatting wa had a excellent night at the office with kate heuston looking good in her battle with sa girl mae lin taking the win by tko kate looked strong with her hands and seemed to overwhelm mae and welldone to myles and the willunga mob notching up another win over aaron uppington all up not a bad first show and i will be back for more one thing that i noticed on the night that i thought was excellent was the support for the cambodian fighters after there fights they would thank every cambodian in the place and in return given tips by there fellow countrymen i thought that was bloody great win or lose there winners.

Well done Im on putting on a show in another state and to have it work..
Big congratulations to the WA fighters!! Kate giving away about 5 kilos and 6 fights advantage and then to still win by KO..nice work
and the Rageing Bull Yusha Ozhan who gave away weight and 200plus fights to have a war and then come out on top by KO..moving on up guys.. Well done to trainer Peter Boyd on throwing out the challenge to your fighters..some would say throwing them in the deep end...but that is what fighting is all about..they have stepped up to a new level now as a result.. proud of you guys!!

Great show Imsta! From a spectators point of view, everything ran really smoothly. Very entertaining and I liked the stickfighting demo's too.
Congratulations to Yusha Ozhan for his win. Yusha was in my opinion behind on points going into the fifth and final round with Sophan dominating most of the fight. He needed a knockout to win basically and thats exactly what he did, he delivered a knockout punch just 4 seconds from the bell. You cant get any closer than that! Well done Yusha!
Yoshi and Chantar also had a great fight, very entertaining with Yoshi winning narrowly.
Hope to see more Kun Khmer shows in S.A in the future.
Keep up the good work Imsta!

Hey Soldier were you there as well?
The Chanta vs Yoshi decision was interesting, not sure if anyone can straightforwardly blame it on the WKA but most thought Chanta had won, would have been nice to hear the points split read out as we do on our Brute Force shows, crowds do like to know what is going on.
The Sophan vs Yusha fight was a good battle, Sophan would have won it easily but suffered an untimely knockdown. My criticism is that the ref still should have started the count, surely Sophan being the professional fighter he is would have realised what was going on and might have tried to stand, it is easy to say from a spectators point of view but I just felt so bad for the way he lost after all the hard work. I was surprised Yusha was still standing on the chopped left leg.

Hi All,
Where do I start? Over all it was great working with the local gyms, you guys have been very supportive and friendly toward us. I hope to keep on improving, producing bigger and better shows in South Australia. I am also positive that we will get more local gyms jumping on board and getting more local fighters taking on internationals. Overall I was please to see our first show in S.A went to plan and the crowds gave us some really good responses.
Cheers,

Big congrats must go out to Im & Vanark. Put on a quality show, ran very smoothly.
Congrats to the Angkor boys Ben & Dion. Good first time efforts...
Dion only missing out very narrowly in my opinion with that one point deduction, but a great experience for him none the less.
Main efforts were great, and i really think the crowd on hand enjoyed themselves.
Hopefully a good platform has been set up now which will lead to more quality shows in Adelaide from the Kun Khmer team.

I would like to say thanks to Im and Van for thier great hospitality. The crowd at the show were excellent, getting behind all fighters not just the locals. I want to thank both Yusha and Kate for putting everything on the line to take on fighters with much more experience and wieght. Kate totally dominated Mae lin right from the start, Mae lin had no answers for Kates push kicks and hand combinations. Two 8 counts in the first round, One 8 count in the second and TKO in the 3rd. What can i say about Yusha, he is becoming a great all round fighter. When it gets hard, Yusha just gets better. He took the fight right up to Sophan, Yusha was the aggressor the whole fight, all the way to the knock out. All in all it was a great night and an even greater night for the West Australian Thai Boxing Centre.
DazMon
30-04-2007, 06:18 PM
I don't know if Yusha was the aggressor and taking the fight right up to him, his lead leg was getting hacked away and he didn't seem too concerned about checking them... Yusha was lucky to win it the way that he did, he would have lost on points.
Now Kate is something different, what is her exact weight? I think she could go far.
Is this Peter who is posting?

Yes this is Peter, Actually we have the video already, if you watch it you may have a differant opinion on Yusha's fight. Yusha has no injuries as Suphon had no power. His lead leg is not even bruised. Kate's wieght is 57kg, 59.9kg at wiegh in after eating, Mae lin's wieght was 62kg after so they say sweating down.

About the weights, Peter caused some controversy when he requested Mae Lin to wear hevier gloves (from what I could ascertain). This sounds reasonable in all fairness to the weight discrepancy, but making an outcry while she was performing the wai khru (Cambodian version) is not really on. She was the only person all night to perform an interesting 'pre-fight dance' as noted by the MC, I think its only right to let her complete it without interruption or disruption. I myself found it interesting, and was enjoying it up till that point, as were the Cambo's behind me.
The discrepancy with the gloves could have been sorted out afterwards and an explanatory note made by the MC so everyone knew what the hell was going on...

Dazmon "about the wieghts" The controversy started at the wiegh in. They set the wieght at 60kg knowing kate only fought last weekend at 57kg. Kate's wieght was 59.9kg at the wiegh in. Mae lin wieghed in at 62kg. I requested that she lose 1kg and they refused. Im Ouk suggested that Mae lin wear 12oz and Kate wear 10oz gloves. So we came to an agreement, I thought. In the change room i spoke to the ref when he signed off kates wraps about the gloves agreement. He went and spoke to Mae lins trainer and came back to confirm that he had spoke to them. Now Dazmon what is "not really on" is a total disrespect to an agreement that was made very clear. Then in the ring they refused to change the gloves. You can decide if i should have given them the respect that they failed to give us.

Gotta agree with Samurai here in regards to Yusha.....though he was only marginally behind the ko was always on the card. The leg kicks were doing no damage at all and Yusha had minimal or no bruising, no limp etc. What a talent Yusha is.......
I personally thought the Mae Lin weight and then glove incident/issue was a fiasco but it didnt matter in the end as it was sorted out by Kates power punching!!
I also thought Yoshi had done just enough to win espcially since he scored a knock down in the 1st!!!
