Hoppa is fighting for the NSW Heavyweight title?
Men talk of killing time, while time quietly kills them.
Hoppa is Hopless
Massive set of meathooks but runs out of puff and should have had 20 amateur fights first has no idea bout sweet science
It takes a BIG man to cry, it takes a BIGGER man to laugh at that man!!!

Would you pay $70 for general seating?

What? How does this come about? Are they going to pull some bum of the street strap on some gloves and let hoppa hit him like a punching bag. Did he have any amateur fights at all?

No offence intended to the War on the North Shore guys, but who is he fighting? Surely it's not just Hopa fighting for the title. A title fight is supposed to be an important fight between the two top fighters. On the poster it only pictures hopa's mug and they're calling it "John Hopoate's NSW HW title fight. Is he the only one fighting? Who's sanctioning the bout?
Are the WMC calling Baukaw and JWP's title bout "Baukaw's WMC Middleweight title fight" ????

sorry, this was a mock up poster. hoppas not fighting for state title. hes fighting brian fitzgerald (i dunno who he his im not matching the pro boxing) im just promoting the kickboxing side of it and running the show.
wouldnt pay $70 or$100 for a ticket?? i thought that but without any other advertising apart from e mail we have sold two thirds of the tickets already. hoppas big news on the north shore, love him or hate him he sells tickets.

Good to see some good kickboxing/muay thai to make up the card. I don't hate hopa, i just think he needs time to mature as a boxer, with strength like his and better conditioning, fitness and skills, he would be unstopable.
If anyone hasn't seen the stick fighting before, those guys are crazy - without padding, it's suicidal. Great to watch and big Perry Gamsby is a stick fighting veteran. Ask him to show you the welts 20 minutes after the demo.

Having sparred Brian Fitzgerald I can say he is a very handy boxer and a tough guy prob Hoppas toughest test yet.
Brian is the only man to have taken Bowie Tupou the distance and did it twice, his right hand is nice Ive felt one or two and ouch but he is a working man hardly trains has been up in north oz to pick fruit I think to make a crust for his kids.
Interestingly Brain lost on points to Hoppas first opponent Frank Faasolo
Brian is a true ozzie battler when he arrived at our gym he said he hadnt hit pads for 6 months or more at his last gym despite having pro fights.
He is also a former NSW ABA champ
Worked last night with a delightful guy who is a young successful pro boxer on this card Kerry Foley former amateur state champ and 1-0 as a pro in super middleweight watch out for this kid for a 19 yr old seems well p[ut together and has a bright future.
ZGood luck Nick Dave and all fighters involved

Seriously, Hopoate takes ugly to a whole new level. He is a serious threat to Serkan Yilmaz's 'Ugliest Man in Combat Sports' title.

its quite funny hiro, i was in turkey for the latter part of last year for about ten shows and yilmaz was at every one of the in his leather jacket and dress clothes walking around like the complete antithesis of what ur implying hehehe.
im afraid i cant agree with ur belief. hopoate is far from being australias sexiest man but please put up a comparrison and yilmaz will win hands down hehehehe!

Yilmaz has been seriously hit with the ugly stick..Infact they may have broken it on him..
Now look at wat i've done....the turks are going to turn on me!!<img src=icon_smile_dissapprove.gif border=0 align=middle>

Hiro, Sniper and P-Dynamo, you're always good for a laugh. But going back to the fight night - I hope that Solo is the main boxing event, he's 100 times the boxer that Hoppa is.
Also if what GoGo says is true, and the guy Hoppa beat in his first fight beat this next opponent then what's the point? Go forwards, not backwards.

Good see scott and hoy fight as well....
Pity we didnt get a match for this one, but looking forward fighting next month.
C ya there guys

It is true mOgno but Brian has improved a hell of a lot and has fought powerhouse Bowie Tupou twice and not been stopped ever so it is a pretty gpood test to see if Hop can stop Brian and if Hop doesnt stop him it will give John some rounds under hios belt which he needs
As stated John hasnt had much amateur background only 1 fight so its ok to step it up sowly as he learns his trade in my opinion

You really think Brian has a chance GoGo? Nothing against the guy at all..
But on paper is a horrible mismatch...

If Hoppa does win and he probably will ,won`t the former NSW champ Soliman Hommono want his title back;now that would be a fight.
Im not one to kick a guy while he is down I wish Brian the best he has had a tough run he works full time has a family and had a period where he was pro fighting without even doing pads he is back on track and won his lkast fight by KO. He is also very tough battler he has not ever been stopped and is fighting to support his family so good on him hge will take it to Hop and if Hop stops him then its something Bowie couldnt do in 12 full rounds with Brian so it truly is a step up and a test for Hopoate.
Also remember that with no amateur experience Hop has to take it slow and fight 20 fights to get ring experience and boxing knowledge so until he is claiming he is the greatesty I wont bag him for fighting low level opponents in his first 10-20 fights plenty guys with gun amateur backgrounds fight worse in their first 20 fights

put a set of gloves on Humble and he would beat Hoppa easily at boxing.

How on earth did the judges give that Fitzgerald? Fair play to the guy for giving Hoppa a good fight but he lost, plain and simple.

just to say nik winberg who had a brain seizure after the fight v peter shutrim was taken to hospital is now doing fine and is still in for observation until sunday. all brain scans were clear so no damage, ive just come back from the hospital and hes up and talking after being sedated all night.
