Hi Paul,
I will be looking forward to seeing Byron fight on this show, an excellent all round fighter both in M/T & KB.
Michael alway seems to put on a very full show and I especially like the comments of the ring announcer "Howard Lee" what a classic

Yeah, Howard's a funny guy.
I like it when he dances.
He espescially gets into it when he hears ACDC I've noticed.
Ax, have you seen this Sofocledes kid fight before?
He's one of the smallest heavy-weights I've seen fighting, but damn he's got some power. One of the most brutal KO's I've ever seen (after Stan V's Brousard). He hit this fighter so hard a couple of years ago, you just saw his eyes roll back and his legs crumble underneath him. Very viscious.

Yeah George is very strong he also has great power in his legs. He wins a lot of fights by taking his opponents legs out.
His brother was also a good fighter but i haven't seen him fight for some time now. Sorry I have forgotten his first name
Howard does go off when AC/DC comes on, I love those red shoes he wears.

I was just talking to Michael about George's brother a couple of days ago. His name is Dimos.
Apparently he needs to wait a while before he can fight again. Just had some surgery done.
Yes, he was a tough boy.
Yeah, Howard's got some groovy clothes.
He's got some spunky jackets also.
Howard reminds me of Ian Turpy.
I reckon he'd make a great game show host.

Great Picture Paul!!
That's right Dimos, hell of a nice guy too.
I have a lot of time for Michael and his fighters, I have sponsored a couple of his bouts a few years back.
Michael has worked hard to get all those fighters to wear they are today, it's a great credit to him.
paul c
10-02-2003, 05:40 PM
They're a bunch of very friendly blokes, I like Michael also, he goes out of his way to get me work many times.
Michael's a clever guy, I'm sure he's going to follow Tarik's lead and keep making his events bigger and better. I was really impressed the first time I went to one of his Springvale shows. It was an absolute sellout, and had the most vocal and enthusiastic audiences I've ever heard. The people that go to the springvale shows must be very much into Kickboxing, because I don't think I've ever seen that venue less than 90% full.

Your right there.
Most of the people that go are either family or die hard fans of the sport.
I have to travel over an hour to get there myself, but it's worth every minute.
How long have you been doing Michael's shows for Paul?
Michael is very clever, he does his own shows, also manages fighters, makes the title belts and even has his own Kickboxing Federation, he sure has done a lot and I would like to see him keep on going for a very long time.
paul c

I started shooting his shows late 1999.
I sort of had about a year away from shooting Kickboxing and sports, and then started again at the beggining of 2002.

Paul being from Queensland I dont have a huge rang of info on most of these fighters. Can you tell us something about them eg records, titles, who they have fought. Thanks.
paul c
11-02-2003, 02:52 PM
Hi Koshy,
I've only seen a couple of them fight more than once.
Charles has fought Arthur Tsakonas, and stood up pretty well up till about the late 5th or 6th round. He's a tough guy worthy of competing at about Australian Kickboxing level. For an Aus title etc, he's a dangerous opponent.
George Sofocledes has probably had under 8 fights but ends them in big fashion ususally (or at least the ones I have seen).
Gem has only had one fight that I know of, so he's a begginer that looks promising.
Gallagher: I've heard he's a tough guy, but haven't seen him fight before.
I think that Charles is the most experienced of this lot of fighters.
paul c
11-02-2003, 05:21 PM
Janer,
A fighter just can't make it to the big time by wanting to do so, he has to go through the motions of fighting on smaller events.
The events won't exist if people don't support them.
No shows means no fights for these less experienced guys, who still have the same ambitions that the televised guys do.
It's your choice how much you put into and support the sport.

Think about it though Janer.
You don't know these fighters (I'm just presuming here).
So, because they are not televised, or not on tarik's promotion you're guessing that the event will not give you value for money.
Buddy, Tarik is reaping the same rewards and more than any other promoter.
There is nothing wrong with making money from promotions.
If people didn't make money from them, they wouldn't happen period.
I just like watching people fight in the ring under Kickboxing and K1 rules.
I don't care who promotes it,
as long as I get to see a good fight.
I don't even care if I haven't heard of the fighters before.
If they are superstars, then that's a bonus.
But sometimes even superstars can put on a lame performance.
These guys on this card can put on just as good a performance as guys Tarik puts on with similiar experience.
Janer, Janer, Poor Janer,
You said "I wouldnt pay money to go and watch that..."<img src=icon_smile_dissapprove.gif border=0 align=middle>
Yet, you think, you should be paid money or perhaps remunerated some other way when you annoyingly use up my downloading time with your trifle by later stating. "At the end of the day people like you and I who support forums such as Sportz Blitz and Tariksolak.com.au, we dont get any recognition for it. Crickey, you are even copying Gurkans words.
Janer you are the one who is really getting NO RESPECT! hahahahaha
Janer you post this on Tariks site
"Is Fatih Hassan fighting on Feb 17? We need some new talent."
Then you go and bag the show on this thread which is actually doing something and bringing through the new talent.
Stick your welcome up yours
should have been blown on the sheets <img src=icon_smile_evil.gif border=0 align=middle>
A lot of people go to Tariks shows and are very dissapointed as well janer
you DONT get all the best fighters on tariks shows.
janer cant get no
he cant get no
NO RESPECT

I have watched this topic from thread number 1. Paul has reflected the fact that there are promoters who wish to promote the sport and bring up new talent. I agree with you. But at the end of a day it is business. I am part of a branch of boxing gyms in Sydney. Once a month or two there are amatuer boxing events held in basketball stadiums just like keilor and and springvale town hall. There are a minimum of 15 fights in the night and you see young raw talent who fight for state and national title. The price is $11 per head. I believe there is also an amatuer circuit here in mlebourne which runs once every 2 months in the Box Hill areas. Michael Vukovic doesnt have the money to bring in fighers with the calibre of Stan or Michael Zambidis. So he can use his promotions as a "search for the talent" show. His beloved Tsokonas is all he has. Janer I agree with your brash comments however not everyone is money hungry. I also see the rort of making people pay $30 for a ticket when you pay %50 more and get to see a million dollar production (as mentioned on the Tarik website). No one in their right mind would pay an amount to watch a main event with both fighters resumes under 20 fights or so. Then we see prices rise up to $100. I know inflation is a curse but Id never thought kickboxer would suffer. It is complete nonsense that you have to pay so much for an event that is meant to bring out new talent. I have already booked my VIP tickets for No Respect knowing all well that I will see a high calibre of world class fighters. Oh I could of paid $45 and sat a little further back. The again this guy is charging $30 for an old stadium. I dont see the sense.

Janer,
You said that no one will pay the money for this type of event.
I promise you that they get 800+ people every time.
You choose not to go and not to pay, that's fine.
You just want to go to the finished product, when someone is a 'Big Name' that's fine also.
But understand that many people are willing to support these fighters through this learning, untill they get to being a name. And don't have a huge problem paying $30, (which is a pretty standard price in Melbourne for a non super-star show. The Scida/Demicoli shows are simmilarly priced also).
We should be thankful for them, because then people who are only interested in the Glamour can step in and get there money's worth when they finally step into televisions spotlight.

Hey, please don't get me wrong here,
there is nothing wrong with the glamour side of the sport.
I love it and am all for it.

Hi Guys,
I have been to Michael Vucovichs shows they are very well organised, don't they give away a few tickets to increase there bar sales..I understand what Janer is saying he has a point...
If you are going to keep promoting just amatuers for 10years and they do not go anywhere what does that tell you....
I do not condone Michael making money for himself but put back
into the sport .........e.g makes belts, hire his ring, has his own sanctioning body, manages fighters, and promotes low level shows bring out some worthy fighters spend a bit of money.
I think the venue he has his shows is great.....
All in all Goodluck to Michael if he keeps getting the crowds....

Guys, I'm all for pro fights on cards and hope that one day all promotions, both Melbourne and Sydney will have a Pro main event. But the reality is that Tarik is King. Others are trying to get there, Lucy, Richard Bradford, Michael, Seif, Scida, JNI, Grima. Some only have one show a year, and have other businesses they run, quite a few rely on shows to provide a yearly income or top up what they make from their Gyms.
A show will allways no doubt be better with a pro main event.
At the same time consider that it is a $20 price difference here.
I honestly can't see how it's done for anything else than a hobby at a price under $20. Unless a promoter is willing to have inadequate security, skip insurances and not fly any fighters in.
Vukovic's shows just about have Tsakonas as a main event every second show. Arthur is now a pro and is starting to fight pro's. Hallford, Ozkan, and I believe a re-match with Gurkan was sincerely considered for a Fightforce show, but Gurkan had already made plans of a fight with Adam, and then pretty soon we'd heard of the plans for the fight with Stan.
As, I have said, just watch them get bigger.
After Tarik, I believe that Michael will keep pushing the shows to better levels every time.
Free tickets:
This would be easily noticed Lucy by the amount of people at the entrances waiting to pay, compared to those that can walk straight in.
In this regard, it is no different to any other show I've been to including those in both Melbourne and Sydney
Lucy Tui
12-02-2003, 05:15 PM
I think you need to ask Michael about the free tickets he has actually told me that by giving free tickets out increases his bar sales, they actually gave away tickets at a show we did together for the same reasons...like I said if Michael keeps getting the crowds well goodluck to him, there is a difference between supporting the sport and taking from the sport...
Michael does a great job behind the scenes organising shows...

Lucy Tui

I've exhausted my responses. What percentage are give-aways I have no factual proof for, so I won't argue your point Lucy.
All I can do is stick up for those that I think have done a good job to date. My loyalties are to the sport and no promoter in particular. As you know the majority of shows I attend are in Melbourne, and I'm pretty happy with all of the current promoters.
I believe they all have good intentions and I will continue to support them with positive publicity and my lowly attendence whenever posible. When a show has been pretty bad, my usual response is not to give it any publicity.

Harls,
What did you think?
I was really impressed with Gem.
It seems so was Tarik, it looks like he's going to be fighting on his next show.
The Wallis V Paul Los fight was excellent as well I thought.
Knees slowed it down a bit at times, but a pretty good fight.
Paul, who is Gem? How did he win? Have you got his record, am/pro?

hey paul! how u been mate?
how was the springvale show? can u post up the results did byron win his fight?

Hey Paul was Gem the guy who had a fight on a Scida show in 2002? If my memory serves me right he fought a Tasmanian guy and won. I did however think he was very sloppy and unfit (he did however look fit). No disrespect to the guy- i mean this could have been nerves or anything, because i have a feeling it was one of his first- if not his first fight.
Would be interested to see if this is the same guy or not, after all i do enjoy watching people improve as their career goes on. Also Mark Wallace is this the guy with the twisted fight name? 'SHY PACHAYE'. Think he may have fought Kristian Stack on the same Ultimate show. If so- who knows what SHY PACHAYE means?
Thanx- INCREASE THE PEACE.

Fight Results,
Demo between Carlee and Mirelle Wallford
Samath Soth defeated Nick Vary points
Richard Pinkett defeated Andrew Harmer points
Michael Nokes V Tim Marty.....No contest (I think Marty may have had his arm broken, but not certain).
Stan Chruilov defeated Tomasz Wojkowsi points
Gem Ozdemircelik defeated Fayzoul Fayed points
Steven Charles defeated Allan Humphries points
Mark Wallis (sp) defeated Paul Los KO
Geroge Sofocledis def Matt reid points (I think I would have given this fight a draw). George looked a pretty puffed out towards the end. I've seen far better performances from him. I'd really like to see a re-match one day.
Rickstar, I've only seen Gem fight once before, and that was on another fightforce show where he TKO'd Matt Green late last year. He's a very fit looking fighter, and I'm sure we'll see much more of him.
The other guy your thinking off Rickstar, whom fought Kristian Stack, is Mark Mullen who trains at the Underworld I believe. Mullen I think is one to look out for.
Rickstar
09-03-2003, 10:05 PM
Paul. i went through some old videos and found the event i was talking about. It was 24th march 2002 at Keilor. (scida promotion).
Mark Wallace fought Kristian Stack and won by TKO. I did however see the Stack Vs Mullen fight and was pretty impressed with Mullen. He was a bit cocky for my likings in that fight but he had the tools to be cocky so i don't begrudge that (maybe it was an underworld gym thing). The other fight i was talking about was the Gem Ozdermiceliki Vs Dave Leighton where Gem won on points. This was his first fight and like i said he looked a bit sloppy- (possibly because of the reasons i stated, ie: nerves etc.) They did say his name on the Ultimate show as Jim Oza which in a perfect world may suggest this guy is a different person which i can accept, lol. But this guy is also trained by Michael Vukovic, is the same weight, height, identical looking and has the same shorts as in the poster displayed. Maybe i am wrong and i stand to be corrected- but if i am maybe Michael Vukovic is training identical twins with different surnames.
Cheers mate. Rickstar

Micheal Vucovick...
I went to your show and really enjoyed all the fights and thought it was a very well put togther night of entertainment. I was particularly impressed by Mark Wallace. Is he under your management? Or just associated with your shows. If so I was wondering if you could update me on whether there will be a rematch against Paul Los or whether he is fighting anyone else soon. When is your next promotion on? and other Victorian Promos...
Thanks mate...

If anyone wants to see the fight pics,
You can check them out at Michael's website

Just click on a thumbnail for a larger view.
My appologies for not labeling the images with the fighters names, I've just started learning a new automated thumbs and links program, and will have that sorted out soon.

Hi Mr. T
I have just signed Mark Wallis for all his future fights as I have also been building him up for the past year. Mark will be fighting Parry nicoliou from Paul Fyfield's gym, on the 30th, March at West Sunshine community centre. There is talk however about a rematch with Paul Los.
The Next Springvale show will be on the 23rd May 2003. I am trying to put on a strong card because I feel that there are a lot of good fighters available around that time and I will try to match 2 four man eliminaters. One at 68kgs to 75 kgs and the other at 75 to 85 kgs.
The sort of fighters on the card will be Group 1:
Mark Wallis, Paul Los, Evan Themelakis, Sot solimanidis, Tony Militec
Dominic
Byron Gallagher, Danny Mascacheff(beat Scott Bannon), Daniel America, Paul Forman (Perth).

Wallace V Nicalau should be a great fight.
Nicalau has a huge heart, very impressive fighter.
The eliminators sound like a great idea.

Yes, Perry is a great fighter to watch.

Glenn,
Did you see Perry fight that Chapman guy on a Scida show (not shane off course).
Amazing war. I thought it was good night for Nicalau, and then he comes back from nowhere.
I'm surprised we don't see more of him.

G'day Paul,
I enjoyed the show although the time spacing between the fights were much longer than usual. I'm glad you posted the results because I didn't make out any of names when "the dancin man" called them out.
I was impressed with Wallis on the night, he does very well for a fighter who seems to lack a bit of power in his hands and feet(or so it looked). Just loved the real fluffy boy band music from his opponent too when he came out, NOT!
Gem did also look pretty good, but while he may have a similar body type to Mike Zambidis and I'm sure he knows this, I'd like it if he would leave the trademark Mike Zambidis mannerisms at the gym and be himself(such as running to his opponent at the start of every round, he even wears the same "Warwick Capper" style black and blue shorts!).
Pity about the pre-mature ending of the Michael Nokes v Tim Marty fight, it started at a furious pace with good technique from both men and it had the potential to be the fight of the night in my opinion. I was sitting right next to Tim's girlfriend and she said he had a shoulder reconstruction a while ago and that he'd probably had hurt it again.
