Sounds good Hammer!
Will this become a nationwide tournament?
One of the guys I work with, won the Northern Territory Tough man comp 3 years in a row - 10 grand each year!!!!!!!!
He was in his 40's when he won them - Michael Seibert may have been one of his competitors (however my mate doesn't talk about it, so I can't confirm)
Does anyone know if there are videos/dvd's for events like this?
Or even the NT comp would be great?

this sounds a bit silly to me it seems they are looking for guys to knock each other out. i can't really see the point of awarding $10,000 to guys that have no fight experience so they can swing some punches for a minute and see how they go, will there be weight limits set etc, i think il be sticking to watching the amateur kickboxing shows where the boys give it there all and have some sort of training behind them.

Hey GoGo
Am hearing you that Mick Seibert is undefeated in his proffessional career, but my understanding is that a toughman competition does not count on their records!
I maybe wrong????????
I just talked 24 hours ago with a guy from Mt Isa who told me pretty much exactly the same thing!
Will do my best to find out though.
Steve
Fair enough Steve I actualy think the toughman comps are a good way to start competitive fighting 1 minute rounds gets rid of the fitness needed for 3 2s that beginners use and lets them progress and overcome the ring the lightsd and other distractions first timers ger overawed by even though its boxing rules it sounds interesting.

couldn't agree more. Makes a total mockery of the hard training guys and girls who put in years of training learning the discipline of their martial art and who put on great performances yet might never be paid.
Actually big Mick Siebert might be a fair competitior in the Toughmen; he doesn't train either! hehe (sorry big guy)

Live long and prosper...
as i ran a few tough man fight i will give you my spin on things.
toughmans are ok for the average guy that just wants to have a go, but i think it is past its time. now that there is more and more kickboxing and boxing events there is no longer a need for toughmans.
i ran one last year and only allowed people to enter that have had less than to fights over the last 2 years. i had 3 novice guys in it (three different devisions) and they all won there fights with 1st rounds knock out (all three fought at least 2 times in the night).
for this reason i will no longer run them because people can get really hurt. everyone thinks they can fight until they get in the ring. just look at the Australian Idol! some of them acually think they can sing.
just to clear one thing up:
i have won 2 territory toughman comps.
i have lost one toughman fight when i broke my ankle in the first round. I didn't want to quit on the stool so i fought on (well stood there any way). tryed to just box but it wasn't enough.
it was the third time i broke the ankle in a fight but luck for me i Knock the guy in the same round. that is the ony fight i have ever lost.

Well I emailed the link to my mate - 2 days later I asked him if he got the email, his reply was "registered already bro"!
He is based in Qld, but it sounds like they want to take him to Melbourne for the fights - and use him for some promo!
Can't wait to go along for the ride!
Steve
