Sounds good. I'm going to watch Cope box Nick Lundh on friday at the Box hill town hall. Cope has done well in his boxing bouts(lovely body rips) that i've seen, though he was out of his league when he fought Soliman, but I believe he took the fight on short notice. But for this fight in particular, I'd put my money on JWP. It would be nice to see these two guys going for it under full thai rules too!<img src=icon_smile_cool.gif border=0 align=middle>

So JWP is fighting Cope in a boxing contest on April 13, then backing up two weeks later, April 27, to face Dawson?

Talk about mucking around with training/rules, and both pretty big fights, with the second one being a pretty big grudge match.

Dawson is not someone to be taken lightly.

Can somebody confirm where Parr-Cope was made official? website etc?

Sounds strange.

Dawson actually did a similar thing 18 months ago- he fought against a japanese shootboxing champion(full thai) and received a count in the fight, which he went on to win and then he fought and won Judgement day two(K-1 rules), 9 days later. It is also not uncommon for fighters in Thailand to compete so often.

yeah i agree with tony s it does sound strange two of the best full thai rules fighters in a boxing match ?? JWP vs COPE, these two guys could pull a main event on a thai fight, WHY mess around on a boxing fight.

G'day Lex, It would be a boxing show(me thinks) and Cope has been just boxing lately, I guess JWP is in it for the fun and for some fine tuning of his hand skills before he tackles Dawson. I don't think Rod Waterhouse would lie.

Hasn't JWP got a title in boxing?
Will it be a title fight?
I Hope JWP wins it will be a good lead up to the Dawson fight?

In a thread on the Ax Forum,
JWP says that the fight with Dawson hasn't been confirmed yet, even though the poster has them both on it.

I don't know what's happening.

Wayne, please let us know once the details are sorted out.
I was considering flying up to see Parr V Dawson. I think with air fares so cheap these days, it will well be worth it.

I know that JWP holds at least one Australian
boxing title in his weight division. They mentioned
this at the begining of his shootboxing fight at
the recent Boonchu Cup.

I've seen Mike box 2 or 3 times now.
I'm a fan of Mikes and think he is a great fighter in both disciplines. Very tough guy.

Though, I think Wayne at his boxing peak was a killer. This one would go Wayne's way not doubt.

Yeah, I wish I knew what was happening too, as it's a good idea to book plane tickets in advance.. Lex, no worries mate, Woodchip's post about Rod came after your original post.

This fight will be fantastic, both fights are excellent boxers, Im leaning towards JWP but anything could happen.

Does anybody have news on wheather the Dawson / JWP fight is going ahead?

Wayne should take this one out. He has had more experience boxing at a higher level. Paul who have u seen Cope box against?

Remy,

I don't remember the other guys name now, but it was on the undercard of Sam Soliman Vs Saikio (sp, Jeff Fenechs fighter).

Mike Cope and Paul Lee were both on the card. It was a Stuart Duncan show in Melbourne. If I remember correctly the fight ended up a draw. Cope looked in excellent form for the amount of experience he'd had.

Also saw Mike cope Vs Sam Soliman. On the return of Jimmy Thunder show at the State Netball and Hocky centre in Melbourne (absolutely beautiful venue guys). Cope showed us how tough he was, but looked lost for tactics against Sam. But then, just about 90% of fighters would find themselves in the same position. He's a tricky fighter, and looks extremelly hard to tag.

Guys,
Did JWP ever fight Sam Soliman in a boxing match?

One other time on Fox Remy. I'm pretty certain this was a seperate fight that I didn't end up attending live.

Paul JWP hasn't fought Soliman but am confident they will fight by the end of the year if sam wants the fight JWP will.

I saw Cope fight a guy at the springvale town hall as a replacement for a guy who pulled out. I can't remember the guys name who he fought though. Cope looked quite sharp and won the fight by dropping the guy twice with nice body rips. I think it was his first boxing win. I will see him in action tomorrow night at the Box hill town hall, where he is fighting Nick Lundh for the victorian title.
