View Full Version : supplements and muay thai
im interested to hear what differnt supplements everyone is using inconjunction with their muay thai training regime. possibly for achieving better recovery, weight cutting, muscle, stregnth etc???
Any differences people have seen from use, what you think is good, what you think isnt?
i was reading the sport section of todays paper and listed was Shoaib Akthar's concoction, it amazed me how much (6 differnt) a cricketer was taking.

a protein powder (if you cant get enough in with reg diet)
creatine
essential fatty acids
multi vitamin
glutamine (depends)
caffeine
glucose - as maltodxtrin/dextrose or just glucose
thats pretty much everything that works...
everything else is pretty much just money down the toilet
some vitamins 'may' be of assistance IF and only IF you are deficient in them -
otherwise none of the other stuff will do anything no matter what the magazines or a current affair/today tonight tells you

Spot on. Also any products that have no exact nutrient listings on the containers forget them. Any product you consider taking, do a google search and you'll be amazed by the UNBIASED reviews, most products that were blown up by advertising and salesmen are in fact rubbish. Alot of the time cheaper is actually better. Don't buy into "multi level marketed" products, products that have their own "unbiased" studies, their "own" labs etc. And don't fall for any companies that sell their products through Avon style contracts. There is a very clear reason why they sell on contracts;) And remember that alot of the reviews could be placebo effect. Lastly listen to your body and you'll be on the right track. Eat well, exercise and take a multi and your 95% there.

Eat the right foods and get good rest between training sessions this should do the trick i never took any supplements during my fighting career as my food sources were very rich in nutrients should you need a supplement try spirulina packed with amino acids a natural product that works well.
