View Full Version : Who do you think won, Steph or Shahan?
Watch the link and score the fight as to who you thought won. I think Shahan won the last three rounds easy landing more kicks and knee's and being the aggressor pushing Steph back. Steph landed a few wild punches but that shouldnt be enough to win the fight.
Be interested to hear other peoples opinion.

Hi JWP just watched it I'm not a qualified judge but here's my run down
Rnd 1 Steph busier
Rnd 2 Steph busier
Rnd 3 Shahan more kicks and they score higher
Rnd 4 Shahan more kicks and they score higher
Rnd 5 Close round but Shahan throws as many if not more kicks that are unchecked Steph lands with alot of clean boxing shots but as I stated earlier kicks score more n MT.
My decision Shahan but if it was in Perth and you've got judges who prefer hands thats why Steph got the nod.
I dont watch much womens MT but if that is Angie's number 1 challenger in oz then maybe she should fight daylight as I'd rate that her next ranked opponent
For a muay thai gym and hub in WA why does she not check?!
If I were in a horny mood I would have given it to Steph definately hotter!
Good luck both girls but that was my take.

I really cant understand the claim as Steph being the best in aust. Having just watched that fight, I haver not seen a scrappier fight in ages. Just because she beat Shahan, that doesnt make her the best in aust. My god man. Its good to talk up your fighter, but cummon. Angies going to knock your little startet out.

As per yesterday, I can see a head kick KO or knee KO going the way of Angie...thought Steph left herself wide open in those areas.
Positive was the catch then straight right, tried this numerous times and with success..
Just MHO..

Thanks JWP your opinion really means alot to me. I agree it was a scrappy fight, probably one of my worst to date. Things just didn't come together on the night... s**t happens! Although watching the vid, I did better than I thought.
Hopefully I will get another crack at it on my turf and get to even the score.
Thanks again and tell Angie to give her one (or two) for me...
Angie will be way too quick for Steph.

after watching that, and after seeing Angie fight Shari a few months back, I think if Steph fights like that with Angie, she is in a lot of trouble.
I watched that fight a while ago and I agree that Shahan should have won a MT fight.

My 2 cents...although im no judge. Seen enough fights to have a fair idea though.
If this was scored under Thai scoring then the first 3 rounds don't count much.
Round 4. Shahan was the more dominant landing more kicks as well as winning the little grapple they had by throwing more knees.
Round 5. Shahan competely owned Steph by landing a s#@t load of kicks to Stephs lead thigh and constantly walking forward. Also finished the stronger and looked the fresher of the 2 which Thai judges like. I'd pick Shahan to win easily under that system.
If i was scoring all the rounds i'd go
Round 1. 10-9 to Steph because she was busier.
Round 2. 10-10 draw. I thought it was pretty even.
Round 3. 10-9 Shahan. This was another close round IMO but Shahan was more the aggressor and landed more kicks where it looked like alot of Stephs punches were missing.
I've already said what i thought of Rounds 4 & 5.
My score would be 49-47 to Shanan Beaver
Watching that it looks like Steph has a style similar to that of Karen Lynch....well a former Kaz. Quite heavy of the front leg, doesn't check much (due to being heavy on the front leg), likes to punch, trys to punch and kick from the most unco angles and punches from her chest. Leads with her head quite a bit too. Just from what i've observed from that fight.
But hey what do i know <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

No worries Shahan, it wasnt the best looking fight but I thought you did enough to get the nod.
That fight was under Muay Thai scoring so kicks and knee's score a lot more, or even what attacks land clean Shahan's still would have outpointed her. I thought the same I scored it 1 to Steph, 2 close and the rest for Shahan.
After reading all of Phon's post I was expecting to see another Germaine de Randamie or Lucia Riker but Steph is far from that league. Angie fought a text book fight on Friday and is only going to be strong come December. Phon has said that Steph is going to walk through Angie, I think Steph is going to get owned!
