Hey Trent
Paul put up a brave effort, lesser men with smaller hearts would have gone down from some of the shots Glaube put on him... Paul did hurt Glaube with a couple of nice uppercuts, I was chatting to Glaube backstage with Faii and his nose was sore from the uppercuts.
At the end of the day Glaube just had too much and showed what a top 8 fighter is capable of, turning on the adrenalin with heaps of power and technique. For me there was a visible gap between the regional guys and the tops eighters in several fights...
From what I could gather people were impressed by Paul's heart... just needs to up his workrate and combinations, tighten up his defences and he could be a force... I know that a few K-1 stars have said they'd like to work with him, which Paul can take as a major compliment.

Hi Russ
To Answer your question... I paid for the ads myself, from my own $$$
As I have said before I think we have the best sport in the world and all should see it! I really want to increase the profile of the sport... so I have put my money where my mouth is and tried some ads on Nova.
Hope it gets a few more followers to the game...?
Cheers
Hammer
Good on you Hammer if the sport had fifty of you we would be reading bout Carnage in the papers mate

Ur a legend Hammer. Lets hope heaps of people who haven't really seen muay thai before tune in tonight and witness muay thai at it's best. The sport is bound to evolve in this country with people like you at the forefront putting paper behind their passion.
The more you sweat now the less you bleed later
Thanks Admin cool he will go far still developing as a true heavyweight I saw Glaube back in 2000 and he was where Paul is now just off the pace at that level and lacking 'Top Flight' experience and explosive fitness give it time Paul will win GP maybe he has to do a Graham and spend more time os either in Thailand where he goes or Japan "where its at", as the Chief says in the IK
Any way thanks for replying and fillin me in mate.

No worries Mark seriously that is top work to promote the sport.
What is the go with Fox sports I regularly jump on their website and while its well put together I need a map to find anything on kickboxing!!
There are the toolbars for each sport eg. league, union, tennis, swimming etc I scan across... no kickboxing... so I come to OTHER SPORTS surely being somewhat of a niche sport maybe they have it in there, NOOOOOOOOO! how naive of me!
It is mentioned nowhere unless you scroll thru the individual days tv guide talk about promotion!! They really help us by putting it on tele but not too miuch on there website compared with TVNZ site where you will find a link or prompt directly to kickboxing news or events or a video you can play and watch!
Mark you're the best person to ask why is this do ratings decide and are ours that poor that we don't warrant a spot even in other sports mate?
Politics involved? or is it purely that it is not as popular as the other sports?
Guys we have a great sport I remember when Kickboxing on tv was just a dream well we have it so everyone tune in and keep the ball rolling?
If any one has suggestions on promoting our sport here as ppl like Mark are doing let us know die hards like myself will chip in and do our best to help maybe my kids will be cutting out Tramsek coupons on the back of their breakfast cereal boxes!!!

Great show!
JWP is going from strength to strength. If there is a couple things lacking in general Muay Thai it's combo work and body punching. These two areas certainly aren't lacking in JWP arsenal at the moment. Probably the most polished I've seen him, maturing like a fine wine<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

What an excellent show. Went across the road to my local and the guys put it on a bigscreen tv and even turned the sound up for me. I thought the fight between tomahawk and stradler was sensational. Preacher's hair keeps getting crazier and how good is JWP!!!!!
Legend.
I'm going to have to drag my ass up to Qld to see one of the Evo promotions, i reakon they're the best in the country.

jwp totally owned soren i know i might get flamed here but i like shaggy and i agree he won but i seen alot of wild haymakers being thrown in his fight alot being thrown with little connecting and i hope jwp kos the f..k out of preacher for his lack of respect with his ""john who"" comment great show congrats to the evo team and fox sports for airing the show hopefully i will be on the plane and off to the next show.

I agree with you samuaythai, shaggy looked a little desperate towards the end of his fight. He threw a lot of wild elbows and haymakers that didn't even come close. Good on him for the win, he's really comming along well and his opponent had something like 75 fights. Gutsy fight.
I don't honestly think Preacher seriously disrespects JW, i think it was more like throwing a bit of fuel onto the fire, putting a bit of drama into the match-up. Boxers do it all the time. Both of them are in fine form and it's going to be another huge fight.

ok time to get flamed, i waited till i watched the show before making comment. First let me say i am a huge Shaggy fan but I was at the show at and thought he had lost the fight.
After watching the fight 3 times i still cant see him winning this fight Yes he was the aggressor, yes his jab landed nearly everytime he threw it but as for Thai fight scoring no.
At the fight when the decision came in Nugget looked very surprised and watching the fight on tv so was shaggy!
Regardless it was a great fight. just my opinion!
That show was wicked!!!
Excellent stuff :)

Ron here.....Guys the reason Shaggy looked desperate is cos nugget told him he was behind on points and that he needed to knock the thai out!! He also got told that the fight would be stopped in the second because of the cut on his cheekbone. 15 stitches he recieved for that. Hence the "desperate" looking fighting style
Hooky, the thai had 90 odd fights for 70 odd wins, just to clear that up, the thai had also recently fought Choppa Chapman as well

Yer that cut on shaggy was pretty dam decent, I thought the fight would be stopped.

Also, on another thread, it says he isn't fighting on Jabouts show because he injured his hand in this fight.

Hi hammer,
Well donE on you efforts to promote the shows on Fox. For what its worth I sent the e-mail with the link to hte ad to everyone I know, even the ones that don't have Fox!
A terrific show as usual. JWP is all class and I hope that Preacher's comment was intended to hype up the re-match rather than the disrespect that it may have been construed as.
On a lighter note did you guys hear Nuggets comment while patching up Shaggy's cut in between rounds "I COULD BECOME A PLASTERER AFTER THIS". A classic!
Still kicking strong at 45!

Yeh it looked like preacher was only hyping up the fight and having a light joke as he had a small grin when he said it and was waiting for the crwods reaction. I dont think anyone involved in Australian fight sports would disrespect JWP.

Hi,
I set up the recorded to record this on Fox (AUSTAR) last night and got FOX news!!! Did I stuff up?? It did say 501, and thats the new cheanel?
Why is there less and less Kickboxing? Should we email FOX sports for more?
Thanks

Ron here...Hooky, Shaggy is pro, well I guess thats what you would call him. He owns a supplement shop at lutwyche in brisbane and works there but he is a pro fighter. Shaggy has only had 17 fights.....all professional. And yes his hand is still giving him some trouble, thats also why he was throwing all those elbows!!

See I thought that a few issues back in IK where they had an article on "The Fighters to watch in 2006" there was a comment about Shaggy turning pro towards the end of the year?
Could be wrong though.. may have been another fighter.

I can see why some people were surprised shaggy got the win as evolution shows usually award thai technique (kicks etc) higher than hands, and that thai put in a good hard kick at the end of every exchange.
In conclusion judging needs to be on the same page all the time otherwise otherwise fighters will continue to get ripped or over-rated.

I think it was more a case of Bruce talking himself up. That is Bruce's style. Very self confident, which is a fantastic thing to have. He is probably JWP closest rival in aust. Preacher has alot of confidence going into this fight, and so he should. hes had well over 100 fights.
You got to admire him for the fighter he is. Flashy, fast and precise. Almost a mundine of M/T. But unlike mundine, hes going to fight someone better than him, and get sat on his arse again.

Loved the show the other night!!!!
I thought "DDD" was awesome, but my highlight was JWP totally dominating Soren...no disrespect to Soren, but i hadn't seen a JWP fight before - now i understand
I loved at one point when JWP had him pushed back on the ropes and was just opening him up - you could see the look on his face like "C'mon, don't cover up - let me SMASH you" - and the combinations - anytime Soren tried to push the action. . .
I can't wait to the Brute Force 7 in Melbs!!!
p.s. Will i ever get to see JWP live in Melbourne??
