Hi everyone

For the next issue of IK Magazine we're doing a preview of the fight everyone wants to see - PARR vs DAWSON.

Could everyone please post their thoughts in the following SIMPLE manner.

1. Winner
2. How they win
3. Single line comment

Eg

1. Dawson
2. KO - 3rd round
3. Dawson is too slick, too technical and to hungry at this stage in his career.

Thanks

-Via points decision, or KO in the later rounds
-Dawson looks at the top of his game in all areas (power, speed etc).

1. Daniel "The Rock" Dawson
2. Winner by TKO, 4th rnd max
3. The Rock is too technical and in a different class than JWP with a natural erge to kill.

This could go either way, say JWP one night and then Dawson the next.
I'm sure this will go to points as both their other two fights have.

1.JWP
2.Points / th rnd Knockout
3.Will be a brutally close fight, JWP has lifted his boxing skills immenselly, a more complete all rounder, and at the moment hungry for success after ZAM loss.

1.JWP
2.Points
3.JWP is a strong walkup style fighter, Dawson lacks that huge power which is required to stop JWP.

1. JWP
2. late round KO
3. JWP is as strong and spirited as ever, Dawson is a tad slower and over confident.

1. JWP
2. Points
3. JWP superior defence & grapple should mean the Rock will not get through and cause much damage.

Either way it's going to be the one hell of a battle!

I dont believe in these type of questions for many reasons :

1. Both fighters are top level fighters and either has the skill/technique/experience to win
2. People have their favourites and will say they will win regardless
3. When fighting muay thai , there is high risk in getting injured during fight and if a fighter gets an injury this affects how the fighter fights

There are other reasons but these would be the main 3

Cheers
Drew

Drew - let me guess, you're a politician

Just answer the bloody question!(FFS - for **** sake!), nothing difficult about it,
JWP,The Rock or a draw? - we are not morons, we understand the fighting game, Mike just wants opinions on what the educated people out there believe

by the way - do something useful for the sport - next time you sit at parliament - could you lobby for the removal of shin pads for fights held in NSW?

And tell all the members at the chess club you regularly visit they are most welcome to come to fight nights, might learn a thing or two about strategic manouvres! (They do not sell Earl Grey Tea & scones so you may have to bring your own - sorry)
Thanks

Hehe Krama.

Drew's just being a nice bloke.

I have to admit that I usually don't like giving an oppinion when I know both fighters. I'm allways concerned I'll dissapoint someone or hurt their feelings.

Krama, I'm off to have my tea now.

Krama ,
I am not a politician , i am a former fighter .

I actually fought Daniel Dawson early in his career .

This is a forumn is it not ? I thought forumns are for people to state their thoughts and comments on topics and thats what i did .

I was neither rude nor arrogant in my comments so why were you ?

Paul C

Thank you for your comment.

Cheers
Drew

Dynamite - didn't mean to hurt your feelings there - just looked like you were ducking from directly answering the question.

Yes you are perfectly entitled to voice your opinion, just try not to beat around the bush so much.

Back to it - how do you think the fight will turn out?

Paul C - you're a legend. :)

POINTS OR KO 5TH ROUND
DAWSON WILL COME OUT SMOKING IN THE EARLY ROUNDS BUT JWP WILL RACK UP THE POINTS IN THE LATER ROUNDS AND MAY FINISH A TIRING DAWSON IN THE 5TH.

i really could not pick it!! they are both superstars of the sport, and both at there peak, i really have to sit on the fence on this, i think it would come down to who wants it more on the night, what a fight it would be!!!!!

Kahstallion - you are wrong! Parr took a beating against Zam and was actually 'saved by the bell' - he didn't smile back! - one more round and Zam would have proven the win - a universally agreed view.

remy
23-01-2003, 01:12 AM
I don't think that it is a universally agreed view. I think the views are quite split. Parr finished the stronger in the last 20 sec or so.

No krama your wrong have a good look at that fight if anyone was hurt and out of steam it was zam.

harls
24-01-2003, 11:26 AM
Totally agree Kahstallion and Seth, I think Zam copped more of a pounding. If it went another round I think Parr would have either dropped him with straight punches or even more likely, repeat what Mike Cope did. Universally agreed view my ass

Funny stuff, Tarik has advertised fighters in a tournament that weren't confirmed at the time, but this is funny. A main event advertised before a fighter has agreed to it.

Personally i think JWP's hands are a step or two above Daniels, Daniel is very strong in the kicking dept, but so is JWP, They both are exceptional Knee / Elbow fighters ( i fought Daniel in WA in 1995 and he gave me a knee lesson ) but JWP boxing skills may be the difference.
But at the end of the day, "both" are great ambassadores for OZ. I wish them both the best of luck.
