Hey Guys and Girls,
It has come to my attention that there is another gym called Phoenix gym in Canberra. Now my gym Phoenix Muay Thai Gym...Stradbroke Island, has only been around for just over a year and I guess that Anthony Manning's Phoenix Gym has been around alot longer than us. So I guess it would be the decent thing to do to change our name, since Anthony had it first. I must admitt that, when I started my gym, I was not aware that there was another Phoenix Gym and thought that it would be ok to name my gym Phoenix. So, i'm sorry Anthony, I meant no offence, so I am now trying to think of another name for my gym. It's a shame because we've had alot of mechandise made up with Phoenix Muay Thai Gym on it and I have also had Phoenix written it Thai tattoo'd across my lower back. So, if I'm gonna change our name, i'd at least like to have something that resembles a phoenix bird.
I've thought long and hard about this, and I must admitt that I just don't want to have a TOUGH name, I teach little kids and I don't feel the need to call ourselves something like, The Little Killers or The Blood Thirsty Little Mongrels or something like that. So I thought I would take a little humour and come up with something different. So I came up with the Smuldering Chickens, Hey, sometimes it's healthy to take the piss out of yourself on the odd ocacation. I don't know, what do you think, Can anyone help us pick out a new gym name?

hi Sandy,
Anthony's gym is called "phoenix Gym canberra" & only gives refernces to kickboxing & boxing not Muay Thai.
If you look on the wmc club listing pages there is 2 "taipan" named gyms so of course in life you will get some places with similar sounding names but I do think that Canberra & stradbroke island are far enough aprt for everyone to tell the difference, so dont stress about it.
Another thing is that clubs all have our own different logos & colours and are easilly recognisable from each other.
Everyone knows that there are several bulldogs gyms throughout australia now & we all know them by the bulddog on thier shorts, but they are all seperate from each other and do match up against each other in the ring e.g last week Eric nosa V Ben Edwards both bulldogs boys.
What I'm trying to say is don't worry about it just get it registered as a non-profit business name through dpt of fair trading in qld.:)

although there are many bulldog gyms in australia we all come from the mother gym which is mine. ive trade marked bulldog gym to stop anyone copying it in the future. i think its important for in twenty years time we can still see where we come from etc etc.

If Eric Dropped Ben Twice in The Third & Ben won the First 2rnds 10-9 Should,nt Eric have Won the Fight as that should have made the Score 28 Eric & 27 Ben as the first Down would have made the 3rd rnd 10-8 then the Second Down would have made it 10-7 ????
Unless one of the Downs were not counted as an 8count.

"Phoenix Island Gym"

???only suggestions. I'm sure you can keep the name phoenix but make it distinctly recognisable from Anthony's Gym.

no matter what you choose, i think "the Smuldering Chickens" is lame. It would embarrase (p1ss off shaun<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>) the kids. Your doing a good job over there Sandy, I recon stick with the name you have now.

Hey Russ, of course I'm not gonna call it the Smuldering Chickens, that was just my stupid humour. I wouldn't do that to us, just trying to make light of the situation. Anyway, so you think that it's ok to keep Phoenix, yeah I'd like to keep it. It's a good name and the kids love it.

Rob, that's not a bad idea about the Firebirds though, I like it, but at the end of the day the final decision will be made be my beautiful kids, It's their gym, and I think that they want to keep our name.

So I guess we will stay as Phoenix Muay Thai Gym, Stradbroke Island. Oh and by the way, DUMP, We appreciate you offering us your name, but I think it is a little in-apropriate considering that my gym is for kids.
