Oh dear,

one fighter is alot lighter, can't check very well, can't kick very well and has the heart of an elephant and will probably get beat to a pulp and still stand. the other fighter is old, hasn't had a fight in years, even then hasn't fought anyone decent in more years.

You victorians are really starved for good fights aren't you, this will be rubbish, I can tell by how hard Tarik is pushing it.

Two champions that should not be fighting, what a waste of time.

hey, I never said you didn't have good fighters. I think you have some awesome fighters, I just don't think the Ozkan - Stan fight is worth all this hipe.

Jesus you victorians are a touchy bunch, anyone would think you had someone to be scared of or something.

Muay Thai Rocks, kickboxing sucks

QUPNCY you say vic is the best!! i beg to differ! iam gonna name some fighters from QLD and U!!!! match them up with fighters from VIC! SORON MONKONGTON,FINLAYSON,PIXIE,JWP,ARRON LEIGH,JACOBS,REX REDDEN,PREACHER,SHANNON FORRESTER,CRAIG HOGAN,TRIMING,ADAM AGGRESSOR,BRAD HULL, AND you say tariks shows are the best OH MY GOD what rock do you live under!! tarik may put on one decent fight the whole show which is normally gurkan and the rest of the undercard is a poor standard compared to other states SA,WA,QLD iam not saying you dont have good fighters some guys from ultimate and melbourne martial arts are very skillfull, but to say that VIC is the strongest state is just plain wrong!!! i would rate QLD#1 then WA then SA then VIC then NSW and just cuz fox doesnt cover WA or SA doesnt mean **** alot boyz from there are fierce competitors who regulary go to thailand to train and fight! and dont waste their time in VIC cuz their MT fighters not kickboxers!! jesus christ you cant even catch and sweep. WA has fought QLDs best many times and both states are very evenlly matched!! just cuz we dont fight in MELBOURNE under tariks 2nd rate shows doesnt mean we dont exsist! so pull your head out your ass!!!!!!

do yourselves a favour guys, contact Ray Matsamura at rising promotions and buy a copy of some of his Boonchu Cups. I promise you that the undercard fights (even on the basic shows) will be head and shoulders above all of the shows Tarik has put on (with the exception of K1-Max which was excellent). No cheap shots, just proof on video tape, if you want to compare do it, you will see what I am talking about. Better fighters, better fights, better rules (with elbows!), better judging and no rubbish titles.

Put up or shut up, one or two good fights on a promotion does not make it a good one. I watch better fights at Etommogah every couple of months with novices and we don't see them on the tv. Mark Castanigni knows what I am talking about, how about we leave the NSW garbage off Fox (shin pads for gods sake)and get the gold coast and Brisbane fights on for this year. You will never want to watch a Tarik show again, I promise.

I think this fight is a mismatch, but havent been this emotionly charged over an event since the pre fight hype between Stan and Sam or Gurkan and Jacobs. I understand why a lot of people are turning there nose up at this type of event but for people who follow the fighters and buy into the money making hype of this sport (peolpe like me who wish they made Kickboxing trading cards) this event is going to be very exciting. I realise that in reality this fight will probibly be as much of a fizzer and as the Crowning but just cant help myself. I only wish that it was Tosca Petrides vs Stan The Man. Now that would be awesome.

Fox is showing Boonchu cup this weekend. There isn't a conspiracy against Qld. As for the quality of Tariks shows. They aren't always at the same quality but still the best on Oz. I like K-1 rules. If you prefer Muay Thai then you might not appreciate his shows as much as the Qld ones.

I agree seth, I think QLD has more quality fighters and better shows than any other of the states. I also think Tarik's promotions are overrated. He relies too much on the main event and not enough on the undercard fights.

Glander, I have to agree with you, I thought Stan was busy trying to be a movie star now?, no offense to Stan, no one can deny what he has done in the PAST, but once someone decides to retire ,dosent everyone think they should stay retired, not just come back for money or whatever reason?.
As for Gurkan, I met him once in Sydney, he's friendly, I personally do like to watch him fight because he gives it his all and as far as I know hasnt ducked anyone, why is he fighting Stan?, I dont know, maybe he's dosent like Stan's "i'm a legend attiude"If Tarik really wanted to get people interested i'd suggest getting Greco out of whatever 'field' he's trying at the moment and make a rematch.
Just to save all the Stan fans posting with "Dannyboy you dont know what your on about" e.t.c,e.t.c, i'm not trying to knock Stan, but for me to be honest, he beat Dennis(who's that, whats he done since)Alexio, had a credible bout with Maurice Smith........but then who after that?..in Stans entry into the k-1 he really wasnt having much success against middle tear opponents, was he.
Anyway thats just my opinion, which is what this boards for right.
JWP vs Alexi whats his name,Zambidis vs JWP,Chopper vs Dawson or Soren, thats what I hope for this year.

Well said Dannyboy,

The word is that Stan is running low on cash and that is why he has taken up the fight, like you mentioned Stan is great and was the best in his prime but today he is out on his use by date and fighting Gurkan will do nothing for his reputation.

The only person who can gain out of this fight is Gurkan and I truly hope he knocks Stan on his arse, which I don't think will happen but if it does maybe then Stan may wake up and stay retired.

I just hate to see people wreck their good reputation for a few bucks.

Re: Danyboy saying Stan has an "Im a legend attitude",I wonder how you come to that conclusion. Of the people I've met in this game, Stan is one of the most humble and friendliest. I dont know how he talks around his mates, thats his business, but around a regular joe like me he was all the good things I had heard about him. Contrary to you guys I hope Stan doesnt get knocked on his arse, I hope he goes out well and happy in whatever he does and that both guys (him and Gurkan) have a good CLEAN fight but I also think Stan is well past it and has been for the last 5 years or so BUT dont underestimate the veterans despite people saying he hasnt had a hard opponent in ages remember in his last fight he easily beat Peter Graham who had 10 years on him and is one of the best of the new heavyweights. Stan may be getting on but he still has some moves, he's no dummy.

I honestly don't feel that 37 is as big a deal any more, as what it was 10 years ago.

Plus, there is only about 4 years age difference here I believe guys, so I'm not even considering age an issue. (hehe, I'm only saying that cause I'm 38).

I also hope they have a great but safe fight.
It's without doubt going to be a huge spectacle, and the biggest thing to happen in Aus kickboxing for at least the time I've been following.

Can't wait.

Hey guys,

Are you certain that Stan had retired?

I've never heard overwise, cause we've been speculating on whom his retirement fight might be on the Ax for years now. At least since about the time of the Stan V Chief fight.

I'm glad this fight isn't it.
I want it to be Stan V Alexio II.
If I was a millionaire, I'd even pay the purse. Hehe as well as getting me some new runners.
