Mark Jones's two boy's were Vance and Simon, not bad fighters both had state titles I think and fought on BJC curcuit when they was running show regular late 90's, last saw Simon fight at Bronzan's night club in Joondalup.......
Conche started off pretty good, won a few titles started getting somewhere then just stopped, think it was a combo of carreer change and trainer moving back to England ( Mark Simpson )
Luke Kempton, tough boy, fought in Perth for a while did alright, then moved to Japan where he was a live in student of the main promoter in Japan, same carreer line as Adam Watt really, then the last fight I heard of was a fight he had in Koh Sumui against Hanarong, both got split open with the biggest cuts you have ever seen, it should have been stopped but the mafia were in control and there was alot of money riding on the out come if you get my drift, 6 months later I was there and they were still talking avout that fight where ever you went.
Heske, still in fit condition, won aussie M/T title in 90's, runs fight club gym in Perth, has done a few movies with Van Damme, Jackie Chan, that know of, and this year won his debut pro boxing fight (heavyweight)
there's a lot more that should be on that list but these are some of mine that made a name for themself.
Craig Pace, Peter Young, Andrew Pearson, Shahan Beaver, Marita Williamson, Leah Fearnell, Rolf Czeh, Rod Brown, Shane Elieff, Paul Foreman, all title holders in there time and thats just some from my gym there are lots more from other gyms............

Phon and Kevin have don't know about Justin I will have to check the archives for that one maybe Dean Woodhams can answer that for us....
I remember a long time ago Phon and Jeff Divine doing a demo with each other, we all thought it was going to get out of hand because they didn't like each other that much, but it was civil............

Tough question for you to answer honestly buddy but were Phon and Kevin any good? How many fights did they each have?
Mungkorn
24-06-2006, 02:31 PM
Kevin did win some sort of a world title not sure on details but there is a pic of it n his gym, Phon fought mainly as a kid teenager in the outer provences in thailand for pocket money just about every week........

Glass, My top three would have to be- Me, MWP & Mungkorn, agreed boys?
Seriously, my top three- Dawson, Noi, Marwin. Smokeys- Pountney & Chao Saksiriboon(both would be higher ranked with more fights here in Oz.Soon to happen). Special mentions to Belarussians/Ukraine's/new West Ozzy's- Malchanau, Borulko, Gurkov, Kryvaratau-all well known in Europe but unknown in Oceania(not for long though).

Showing your age now Dean. Glass Jaw if you can make it to the next show on July the 8th. You will be adding one more name to that list Andrei Malchanau . If his opponent is half decent and he gets to show what he can do , he just may make it to the very top of that list as well. No disrespect to the many great fighters on it I have enjoyed watching over the years.

One important name missing on that list Damien Myer. I might be showing my age now !
As far as I'm concerned Damian is the one who started Thai Boxing in Australia. He has old photos with him and Ramon Deccas when Ramon was just starting to fight in Thailand.. That was at the very 1st Sittyodtong gym.. Then the rest followed!

We still looking for a match for you for July 8, will find out tommorrow what the fall out from last night was, a few boys your weight & experience fought.
Agreed, Damo should be in Glass's list, at the top.

yep thats craig pace. . . he got KO'd in the 3rd or 4th with an elbow unfortunately. . .
Peter young was a solid fighter, good grappler and extremely strong 4 a lighter fighter. . . could mix it up with the best of them, he was known as pitbull. . probably becoz he never took a backwards step :D

Yeah Spalda, that was Craig, he dropped the japanese boy twice in the first round, i think that just got him mad,
I got stiched over by one of Australia's so called greatest, Dave Hedgecock, he told me that Craig was going over with a team of fighters and that he would be fighting a guy who was on his way out and hadn't knock anyone out, I asked for a tape which I never got, and the reason he gave why I couldn't go is because they only wanted to pay for one trainer, so to cut a long story short, Craig was the only fighter that went with Dave, he was only using Craig for the free ticket to Japan, and when he got there they showed him a tape of the guy ko'ing his last 15 opponents in the first round, this guy was a legend over there.
You learn from your mistakes and I will never trust that man again..........

Dutt's no doubt ny old mate Damien Myer was a pioneer of Muay Thai in this country, his career was sadly cut short due to that broken leg during his last fight, one in which he was winning which made it that much harder to watch, also mate Soren has fought Darren twice in Perth once and return fight in Brisbane winning both of those contests, no doubt WA was the pioneer state for Muay Thai but now Qld holds that honour!

Was " Uncle Dave " even in his corner .... or .... was he shouting out
encouragement from the Corporate Table ????

I remember John Myles vs Chris Allen in perth, what a war! if i remember correctly Myles took the decision then they tried to reverse it, ive never seen a fighter leave a venue so fast lol. Myles always put on a great show and imo had one of the biggest hearts in regards to fighting in WA.
Bill now that your not training for fights does that mean monday would be a nice easy day to come in and say hello???

Yes i remember that fight it was a war and a very controversial decision it was, also big Paul Slowinski beat Brett Dalton for his first Australian tilte and Olviver Olsen stopped Steve Douet in his first Muay Thai fight! promoted by Phon Martdee

Spada, after the first round, Craig said what do you want me to do now, he said just keep doing what you are, the fight was stopped with contraversey, Kensu was frustrated with Craig in the grapple, so he head butted him then pulled his head down and elbowed him in the back of the neck in the spine, Craig looked up to see the ref giving him a count, he looked at Dave and he looked away.
It still pisses me off when I think about it........
And Simon get your ass in the gym.............hehehe
