Just saw the Sefo/Karaev and Aerts/Hori fights:

1 - Brutal knockout, but Sefo is going to cocktease us again this year. He along with LeBanner will go down as the most dominant K1 fighters to never win a GP. Ruslan needs to chill the **** out.

2 - Holy ****ing ****! Aerts is the man! The knockedthe****outedness of Hori is simply scary. No ****, he went down like Creed in Rocky IV (sorry to spoil it for those who havn't seen it, but Creed gets killed). Poor old Hori, gets up from a devestating right hook from Aerts only to walk straight into another effort-less headkick from Aerts to go down - permanently.

**** there has been some awesome KO's in K1 this year. Maybe they are turning things around ...

Iv seen the event. Was entertaining but quality of fighters in teh tournament wasnt good compared to other k1 tournaments. Was so shocked to see Kaoklai to lose in round 1 and i thought Semmy should have at least got a draw in his superfight.

FACT: Kaoklai is the most overrated person on this planet.

If I had a dollar for every time I heard that ... I think that I would be one of the biggest contributors though.

big shot by sefo. i dont think he has the goods to win it all though.

Max Power, he's the man who's name you'd love to touch. But you mustn't touch! His name sounds good in your ear, but when you say it you mustn't fear! Cause his name can be said by anyone

Brutal brutal knockout by Aerts, still going strong. Didn't look like he had much power behind it but caught Hori on the neck.

Sefo looked good against Karaev..those bombs will knock anyone out. Don't know if he can go all the way but is still tough in a Superfight.
Karaev looks good..good combos and looks pretty quick. May lack a bit of power though.

Just got back from Seoul... wow those Koreas go off!

Kaoklai was disappointing... Fujimoto showed good skill and a solid gameplan but I cant see him causing any headaches for the top seeds... Min Soo Kim lacked technique but had enormous heart to get to the final and in beating Peter Aert's boy Bouzidi who I rate as a real prospect.

Sefo's KO of Karaev was murderous... Karaev was winning the fight landing some exquisite combinations but he dropped guard, allowed Sefo to launch the Big Kabosh and was knocked into next week.

Aerts looked like the Aerts of 1998 the way he slaughtered Hori and KO'd him out cold with a sickening left roundkick.

As for the main event, I thought Schilt had won it or maybe a draw...

Korea is definitely a hot-bed for K-1... the response was fantastic, crowds really get into it, moreso than they do in Japan.

The only thing that would have added to the awesomeness of the knockout would be if Aerts and Rene Rooze had have posed for pictures over his limp KO'd body like they did when Rooze demolished Tadao Yasuda at the Inoki show in 2003.

That was some cold blooded ****!

I dont think that would happen Hiro... I congratulated Pete afterwards and he was actually a bit sickened that the KO was so bad. Hori is a good young kid and many people ringside thought he was dead after that kick.

Yeah, that Rene Rooze is a bad muthaf**cker! (funny as hell though)... some of the stories... LOL. But you know, what happens on tour stays on tour :P

Just watched the Kaokalai fight and to be honest even though he got an 8 count I still think he won the fight or atleast and extension round was needed.

Clearly won the 1st round with clean scoring techniques, evasion and defense, second was dropped but scored clearly b4 and after this and the same for the 3rd round.

Yes he lacks in the boxing department but has amazing evasion, high and low kicks plus effective grappling and knee strikes.

Also remember he is a small man in comparison to all of his heavy weight opponents.

How do you define his overated status?

I'll give you an in-depth response on the great overratedness of Kaoklai as soon as you can pick a better example than a decision loss to Nakasako (who sucks more ass than a colonic irrigation machine) to prove that he's not.

Against Nakasako (who I have never rated highly) Kaoklai relied too much on his single shots instead of throwing combinations. He put too many eggs in the basket of his jumping roundkicks, trying to find that same kick he KO'd Mighty Mo with years ago, but it won't come against opponents as experienced as Nakasako and won't drop their hands like Mo did. Nakasako hits with all the power of a wet towel, but his guard was very tight and his footwork good against Kaoklai in the second and third rounds.

Kaoklai is a great fighter, it's just that he doesn't have much other than his crushing roundkicks and his evasion. Problem is that when he gets in range to throw the roundkicks to the legs, he is in danger of being nailed by his always taller opponents... and when he does his Sea Biscuit impersonation and runs (see vs Sefo for example) he doesn't make points.

It's hard being that small and Thai oriented against K-1 heavyweights. I mean, the guy is small!

But I still think he clearly scored the more effective shots.

Admin I forgot does anyone excpect him to stand and trabe blows with guys far far bigger? Only a crazy man would suggest he would and by moving and evading hes not allowing for his opponents to score either.

Of course no one expects him to stand and trade, that would be suicide, but doing a Makybe Diva around the ring is no answer either. That's the trouble, his size limits him, so what does he do? One shots with the kicks which get blocked most of the time against experienced opponents, or run around in circles trying not to get hit?

Not a great gameplan. Against any of the top tier K-1 fighters he would get murdered.

And we'll agree to disagree on the scoring of the more effective shots. I think Kaoklai had the first round, Nakasako the second and third.
