A few people have asked me where my knockout tagline GOOD NIGHT IRENE comes from... well here is the origin of it...
Good Night Irene was actually the finishing hold of one of my favourite wrestlers - Adorable Adrian Adonis, who used to wrestle in the late 70s early 80s.
At one stage he was the tag team partner of Jesse "The Body" Ventura.
Anyhow, Adonis had a finisher which was basically a sleeper hold and he called it GOOD NIGHT IRENE... I thought it was a pretty cool name so I adapted it to kickboxing commentary. Now whenever there is a cool knockout or stoppage it's now GOOD NIGHT IRENE. Also a tribute to Adonis who died several years ago but remains one of my favourite wrestlers.
So until the next KO - Gooooooodniiiiiiiight Ireeeeeene!
