Hey guys,

It's been a while since we've discussed Amir.

I was wondering what we may expect in this new coming year.

Do any of you guys think we'll see Amir fighting????

I spoke to him briefly in Sydney at Tariks K1 NSW show.
We were discussing how his heavy-weight was doing and a couple of other fighters from O'Riley's gym where he teaches at.

But, what I realy wanted to talk about was Amir's plans for 2003.
I was pretty excited to see him fighting and doing extremely well last year around K1 Max time, and was dissapointed when that seemed to be it.
The fight with Jenk was incredible, and then that massive head-butt to the nose that he took of Mike Cope.

Cope's without doubt is a great fighter. Mike Zambidis was cut pretty early in the fight, and Mike Cope was certainly a lot fresher than Amir was after that incredible war Amir had against Jenk. But, I still think that Amir probably would have gone the distance with Cope had it not been for the headbutt to the nose.

I kept asking Amir if we're going to see him back in the ring, but all he would say was that he didn't know, but maybe. I kind of got the feeling that we probably will.

I hope so anyway.
Since he's now in Sydney, I thought after a couple of warm up fights again that I'd like to see him take Alexy P on.
Amir was such a great fighter. I hope he doesn't stay out of the ring for long, because he's still very much a class act and a great fighter.

Paul , how old is Amir?
You have to remember the laws here in NSW dont let anyone fight after about 35-36.

That being said, I'm not saying Amir looks 36!!! Sheesh....I'll get my head kicked in!! <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

I forgot about the N.S.W law thing.

I guess he'd have to do it in VIC.

I'm not exactly sure how old he is Ian.
I thought last year that he was still fit enough to be a serious contender to any champion in Aus of his weight division under Kickboxing and K1 rules.

Not a good idea unless Amir has a few warm ups first.

For sure John,

I was surprised Amir entered the K1 Max last time after only a couple of warm up fights (which to be truthful, wern't really testing).

I really hope he does have some fights. I think it will add to the excitement of the sport. He's always a great showman.
I have a feeling that 2003 is going to be an incredible year for Kickboxing. We know of 3 Stan fights allready, so am sure the rest of the year will be great.

I was at Amirs first fight at Dallas Brooks Hall. He won the fight esily and the crowd went off and he won many supporters. The trade mark leg spread on the ropes, gotta miss that!

He wants more money to fight. That is the key to get him in the ring.

Janer,

Do you have the Prince Amir V Marcus Mangan fight?

I've never seen this one. I believe Amir KO'd Marcus. I'm a big fan of both guys and would love to get a copy if you have it.

I don't know which or who's show it was on, but probably Tarik's I guess.

It was Tarik's show at the entertainment centre. Sam Greco fought Birol Topuz, Gurkan vs Shannon, Amir vs Mangan, Vermes vs Mark May Soliman vs Westerman. That was an excellent line up.
