Ozkan V Michael McDonald!!

Hey guys, what a matchup this would be! Mcdonald is a little too small for the heavies but would be perrrffect for a fight with gurks!

I was just thinking of that match-up when I was watching the k1 gp on main event on monday. McDonald vs Stan would be sweet as well. Good call Janer.

I was lucky enough to watch Mike McDonald fight live twice in Vegas. Both times were K-1 style fights having three fights on one night. He won the USA K-1 in May beating everyone they put in front of him. In August they had the winners from around the world come to Vegas to fight in another K-1 eliminator. Mike also made he way to the final on that fight as well and ended up winning by knockout to take the money. Adam Watt also fought on the same night.
I think Mike would be too big for Gurkan as he is naturally a heavy but it would still be fun to watch. I think Mike would be to strong for most of the guys here in Australia, he was very impressive in Vegas.

Also I dont think he would "smash" Gurkan. He could win but Gurkan makes a fight with anyone competitive and rough! I would expect him to give Macdonald rough ride win lose or draw! Remember Ozkan was thee same guy who would get killed by Adam Watt!:)

It would be one of the only times Gurkan has fought a guy with a better physique than himself. (this is not meant to sound gay)

You'd have to say that Mike MacDonald has got the best physique in the K1. I was watching him fight the giant schilt where he got knocked out with the knee. He is a good fighter to watch pretty dynamic. He uses body leverage well in puches kicks etc. Wich would be why Mike v's Ozkan would be a ripper.

Grant Barker fought a canadian named Mike McDonald on the undercard of the Stan Longinidis vs Lawrence WKA world junior heavyweight title bout at the gold coast in 1990. Do you guys remember that it was the first time stan was dropped? Of course he ended up winning by ko, 'cos he's the man. I don't know if it's the same Mike McDonald though, different physique and style, but I've always wondered. I think Grant Barker fought with a ruptured disc, and I think the guy I've seen fight a few times on the k-1 circuit would've eaten Barker up. Maybe Mike Schiavello or the Hammer know???????

Yeah that was Mike Mcdonald that Grant Barker beat. Not sure what show i was but I do remember the fight clearly as my local video store had the show in the Sports section. Apparently Barker beat him twice once by KO once by decision. Grant "The Bomber" was no chump in his day, one of the top heavyweights in Australia at his time.

Mike Mcdonald K.O.'d Cro-cop in round one remember, thats a huge feat in itself i think, it would be great to see any of these k-1 world class fighters in Oz.

grant is a very good friend of mine
and i am trained by mick spinx (who trained grant)
and yes grant did beat mike twice
once over ten rounds in sidney (he did have a bad back for that one)
and he ko'd mike in the 6th round in queensland at jupiters casino.

i saw the video and it was brutal.

Grant was one of the best fighters WORLDWIDE in the late 80s and early 90s.It started off with a good bout against Lee Rice in 89 in his pro debut.Then Grant went 4 or 5 rounds with Vitali Klitchko who is fighting Lennox Lewis in a short while in 94.Klitchko being 6'8" tall and over 25kg heavier STILL REFUSED to fight Grant with leg kicks thus they fought with above the waist rules.Grant also took on Peter Aerts in his first ever K1 bout in Japan even though he lost it was testimony to his character and his style of fighting.You either KO the guy or get Kod trying.
He was to recently fight Tony Gun Bonnello in a MMA bout but it did not eventuate.If hearts won World Titles this guy is UNDISPUTED CHAMP!
