thanks for your response, no im not a fighter, have trained a little but only really for the fitness aspect. Have been travelling in the UK but live in melb now.
Do you only train fighters? I would be interested in fighting eventually but not in the short term.
what kind of classes? training times do you offer?
Thanks

hi chaps,
yeah we only train fighters nowadays. the gym is too busy for us to give our attention to non-fighters unfortunately. however if you have an interest to fight we are accomodating. but we aren't really interested in training people for fitness. anyone who attends the gym, are expected to do everything the fighters do. we train our fighters the same way the thai's train. everyone is expected to run, skip, shadowbox, hit bags, 5 rounds thaipads, technique spar, clinch, repeatitive kneeing and kicking of bags to cool down and 100's of sit ups and push ups. training take 3 hours and everyone is expected to complete the session. its hard but it gets the results... if this isn't your thing, thats understandble, and there are many gyms that do offer other training, but if you think you'd be up for it, you can give me a call.

and what time do you start training in the evening?

Hey Chaps,
you actually sound like our sort of student!
We have a multitude of classes and a lot of these are energetic kickboxing classes, some are dedicated to specific Thai training and fighter training.
See how you go with JTS, but maybe if you're not so keen on fighting just yet give MKK a go.

Hey Chaps,
There is another thread about Melbourne Gyms with some contact details headed "Trainers - Melbourne". You might want to check that out.
An extract of a few Muay Thai Gyms around that have btoh fighting and fitness elements....
Malvern Martial Arts (Nik Kara) - Malvern
Sityodtong (Jeab - Thai Trainer) - North Melbourne
Ultimate Muay Thai - John Scida - Heaps of locations
BJC (Don and Wes) - Glen Waverley
Laos & Im - Dandenong
Smak Gym - Matt (Somerville)
MKK (George)- Melbourne City
JTS (Tao and Don) - Richmond
Hope you find what your looking for! I think, on average, most MT gyms charge between $80-$120 a month (for fighting type of training).

Yeah of course Harls, last thing I'd want to do is steal anyone.
He could build up his fitness @ MKK in anticipation of hard training @ JTS!

I wasn't having a go at anyone, just saying Chaps was asking about JTS, nothing more. No one can be "stolen" from a gym if they don't train at a gym!
