NEW YORK: Golden Gloves boxer Mitchell Rose has filed a $122.97 million lawsuit against Mike Tyson, claiming the former heavyweight champion permanently damaged his spine during a fight at a Brooklyn club last year.
The lawsuit, filed today in Brooklyn Supreme Court, alleges Tyson physically hurt Rose during an encounter at the Sugar Hill Club on December 16.
Rose is also seeking damages for his personal property, including a mink coat that Tyson allegedly "ripped with his bare hands" and punitive damages of about $93m, Rose's attorney, Sanford Rubenstein, said.
Calls to Tyson's manager and spokesman were not immediately returned.
Tyson is scheduled to fight Lennox Lewis for the heavyweight championship in Memphis, Tennessee, on June 8.
