Just wondering if any of the trainers, fighters or just people who train could tell me witch way they prefer to hold there fists whilst throwing hooks e.g. with the palm of the glove to the floor or with the palm of the glove faceing you and witch technique you consider to be the best. Thanx.

The bigger they are the harder they fall!

sometimes i hit with both ways, depends on the situation and how much movement i have in my hips.

Max Power, he's the man who's name you'd love to touch. But you mustn't touch! His name sounds good in your ear, but when you say it you mustn't fear! Cause his name can be said by anyone

If you have your palm facing the floor you can really put your elbow & shoulder behind the punch.

My preference is the same as Dazmon,as i find it a much more powerful punch and i do love my hooks(almost as much as i love beer). However if i want a nice sneaky hook to hit around the guard of an opponent the palm towards me is very handy.

Beer hey!?
Your second 'sneaky' technique sounds preferable for holding one too...
Mmmm.

Hey Dazmon,i never drink and punch at the same time.Good chance of spilling beer or missing with the punch, neither a good result.

Quite frankly I dont understand this statement. If you throw the punch correctly with the elbow parrallel with the floor and it comes from the rotation from the ball of the foot, through the hip and some shoulder action as well, how can holding your fist either horizontal or vertical change the strike? Anyway you can get good power from a short hook nevertheless if the power comes from the this method instead of throwing from the shoulder alone.
I hold my fists vertical to the floor when hooking, try and strike with the two larger knuckles (index/middle fingers as per all my other punches to minimize breakage).
