Hi guys,
I just got back from the Michael Vukovic show in Springvale, 22nd November and thought I'd post the results.

It was a good show with some great fights.

1 . Michael Nokes defeated Arthur Tzakopoulos points. It looked like Nokes might KO Tzak in the second after rocking him a couple of times.

2. Nick Vary defeated Andrew Harmer by unanimous points dec. Vary dominated all rounds with solid kicks and punches. Both these guys seemed really powerful, and both did pretty well not being KOd by the other. They were both landing dozens of great shots.

3. Gem, Ozdemicheliki KO'd Matt Green, first rnd I think. Gem is looking like he's going to be a great fighter. Looks super fit and very powerful for a guy of 63 odd KG.

4 . K-1 rules: Sarah Smaje (one of the many girls from Scida's) wins unanimous poinds dec over Liz Calingasan. . This was a strange fight. I thought that Sarah was going to KO Liz very early on, but credit to Liz (who's from PNG), she hung in there and lasted the distance. The fight was absolutely all Sarah's from beginning to end.
On first appearance I would have picked that Liz would win. You know when you see two fighters enter, and one is super ripped looking but the other isn't.....one of those types of scenario's which go to prove and prove to us that muscles aren't everything when it comes to fighting.

5 . Mark Walace Vs Darith Bun........Wallace was in the ring in his fight shorts explaining and appologizing to the many people there who came to watch his fight. I sort of caught the explanation mid way, so don't know what happened to Bun.

6 . Rob Clarke Def Kareem Hemed by 5th rnd KO. Awesom fight. Both guys came out like they wanted to kill each other. And it was full on agression from both the entire 5 rnds that it lasted. I haven't seen either of these guys fight before, but damn they had a lot of supporters there.

7. Michael Burke def Steven Charles....ref stoppage 5th rnd. Both guys fought hard and both fought well and were equally busy. Burke seemed to throw the neater shots which seemed to be landing more often. Charles lookes like the type of fighter that just exhausts opponents by being up real real close and all over them.

8 . Nick Lundh drew Sot Solimanidis. Fight was stopped by the ref in the 5th rnd due to Lundh recieving an accidental head cut. The judges cards were called in, and a draw announced. Both guys had a judge that thought they were ahead by a round, and the third judge calling it a draw.

9 . Arthur Tsakonas def Jason Tudor by 2nd round ref stoppage. Ref felt that Tudor had had enough. This was the fastest I have seen Arthur get stuck right in from the very first rnd. Tudor started throwing big shots as soon as the bell sounded, and this seemed to get Aurther fired up and landing some nice clean punches.
The Thai fighter that was supposed to fight was refused a visa. Apparently something to do with the amount of people overstaying their visas.
I don't know how experienced Jason Tudor is. Apparently from Nuggets gym, so I imagine he's a tough boy. Most of Nuggets guys seem to be.

Blitz friends, I have a technical question.

What is the difference between

Modified Thai rules and K-1 rules?

I allways presumed Mod Thai rules that you just weren't allowed to use elbows. Is this it, or is it more complicated than that?

I'll put up some fight pics here a little later today, but the entire show will be up as super large thumbs on Michael Vukovics site in a couple of days.

Damn, I got to move to Melbourne. These drives are killing me.

Modified Thai should be Thai with no elbows, but usually turns out to be just the same as K1 rules, could depend on the state though (I'll bet a Queensland modified Thai fight would be different to a Victorian modified Thai fight). K1 rules stops the grapple as soon as there isn't any "action", whereabouts modified Thai grapple should be the same as a Muay Thai fight.

in k-1 when you get in the graple and you are not keeping your work rate up the ref will seperrate you and also in k-1 you can grab the leg but while you are holding the leg you are only allowed to hit them once and then you have to let go of the leg that is the main difference between k-1 and modified muay thai

The rules are pretty much the same, though alot of it comes down to the ref and when he decides to break a grapple. Also I believe that the scoring is different(though I thought it used to be the same early on in the K-1), in Mod thai knees score highest, followed by kicks then lastly punches, in K-1 now I think all weapons score evenly.

Probably better that way.
