Hey guys, I was just thinking of whom it may be to have the title of Australias Best Super Middleweight fighter.

It has got to be the winner of OZKAN V HALLFORD.

What do you reckon?

hmmm
it's a tough one but i would have to say halford
he is tough, smart and i think he will take gurkans technique apart
but thats my opion.

Pete just remember this, Gurkan has beaten John before and he will beat him again, Halford = pound for pound the best fighter in Australia, Ozkan - well its time to pound the pounder lol, im definetly going to pound his. John Halford tough, well that makes Gurkan tougher.

i can understand where u are all comming from
gurkan is one of the most explosive fighters around.
but did you see halford vs rapheal tai, i know tai not in gurkans class but, john didn't rush anything and just took tai technique apart. i think that he would do thee same to gurkan.
but it is gurkan ozkan and you never know what the 'surpreme fighting machine' can do

John & Gurkan fought in a traditiional Boxing bout, although it must be noted that John gave away over 5 kilo's just to get a fight. Not many people would do this when matched againsted Gurkan.
The bout was very close and the decision going to Gurkan, understandable considering it was in Vic, if it was in NSW the Decision may have been different, thats how close it was.

Now, John would absolutly love to Kickbox Gurkan, but it is not in his control. Gurkan has stated that he would like to fight John again under Kikbox rules, John has stated the same, so a re-match would be a good draw card, "but" as we all know there is a big difference when kicks are involved.

John learned from the bout with Gurkan, he also learned that he can go 8 rds with him no problem, the question is can Gurkan go the rounds with John when he is allowed to slam in the Kicks ? Not just to the legs but everwhere else?

From our point of view we think not... My personal prediction is that John would "stop" Gurkan completly. No disrespect to Gurkan, as he is one of our Kickboxing trailblazers in this country.. But John has had over 90 full contact bouts and he has never been dropped let alone stopped. Gurkan has!

John is also a 5 x time Kyokushin Karate National Champion, this is a "major" achievment in anyones book!

Cheers
Mark

I agree with Sooty, Halford is a much more complete fighter.

SOOTY: thanks for the detail of their boxing bout as I didnt see it. But Ozkan as a boxer is no where as good as a kickboxer. 99% out of Ozkans kickboxing fights have been under 6 rounds. I dont think Halford could stop him within the duration of a kickboxing fight. Gurkan couldnt put Heath Stenton away in there boxing fight and that was close but not as close as you detailed against Halford. I guess you cant really compare boxing with kickboxing, it could be a little measuring stick I guess.

Also Sooty im not starting an argument just placing my own view as I respect yours, but Ozkan has been dropped by the best. i.e. Paul Briggs, Tibor Vermes and Trevor Ambrose as they were all shots to the head. As for Gurkan recieving kicks to his legs, he was actually stopped by Phil Fagan and Peter Graham. Please tell me if Hallford could mix it up with any of those names and not get dropped? As Ozkan gave 20kg away for Graham! So I guess that negates the fact that Hallford thinks he can drop Ozkan.

And Ozkan taught Tsokonas a lesson whereas Halford drew.

Conculsion: If Halford concentrates on Ozkans legs early, there is no doubt that his superb skill will shine and I hope Gurkan will check every forward step of Halfords!! If Halfords legs dont work on the night, Gurkan will win easily.

Mark, wow, that is friggen impressive.
I know John is a great fighter, but didn't know that he's never been stopped.

I saw the boxing fight with Gurkan and John.
I must admit I was pretty bored, because I was just only getting into Shooting kickboxing, and boxing sort of seemed half as dangerous, and half as exciting. But I've since then begun to love it. It didn't realy seem like anything exciting happened during that fight, like I don't remember anyone being rocked or dropped.

Janer, I thought going the distance and defeating Stenton was pretty impressive. I saw Stenton fight Mundine....I know Mundine won, but don't remember which round. So for Gurkan's first ever boxing fight to win the Vic title is doing all right I thought.
