View Full Version : Evo 6 vs No Respect 3

OK crew...
The 2 biggest shows of 2005.
3000-4000 at Evo 5, 6000 to NR3.
Muay Thai vs Kickboxing aside, both have been on Fox, everyone saw both, which show was better?
Think along the lines of;
. matchups
. excitement
. tension
. fighter skill and courage
. satisfaction for the audience
I vote for Evo 6.

definitely and without a doubt evo 6!!!! its just more fun to watch a little bit more of a fight with the added weapons of muay thai and without the controversial rules. its either modified thai or full thai, simple. no "modified + this but minus that and then divide by this" rules.
Plus match ups more even generally although both had some mismatches.
maybe im a little more biased because i love muay thai more.
its just hard to not cock back and throw a knee or elbow when positions permit you to.
dont worry queensland nsw is hot on your trails.
Dont mistake my harshness for strength and neither mistake my kindness for weakness.

Both were awesome shows but for my money Ev6, being biased as well as a MT lover but a big factor outside this was the big names!
JWP
Arslan
Preacher
Wazza
TS2
Soren
The match ups between
JWP V Preacher
Arslan V Wazza
Ts2 V Swede
These were all main event material and two of them very close and exciting fights not to mention the skill level.
In these names you have several A Class standard fighters, some verging and some on the way.
No respect yes was a great show yes but Evo get the Nod

Personally I vote NR3.
Because I knew the excellent quality of the fighters on on Evo, and the show completely delievered. But for No Respect III, i didn't come in expecting anything.
Great parts -
That tough Iranian who normally fights Springvale Townhall was brilliant, the brutal kicks of Ronnie Ajar (sp?). An impressive look into the future with Tramsek. Great to see a powerful zamibides go the distance.
But all in all, both were great promotions. And the future is looking great.

Big D in training, will be back in da house one day......

no contest---- EVO 6!!!!!!!!!! muay thai all the way
Max Power, he's the man who's name you'd love to touch. But you mustn't touch! His name sounds good in your ear, but when you say it you mustn't fear! Cause his name can be said by anyone

Totally two different styles, enjoyed both they all had class...
Tarik presentation was excellent, I saw that Josh & Nuggets presentation was excellent to. The fights were both great considering they both were of different styles of fights..
I love Muay Thai & Kickboxing....

The one thing I will say about elbows they leave nasty scars..unfortunetly...:)

good post Lucy...
Now here is the REALLY ironic thing.
Imagine in a room full of 6000 Greeks and Turks if elbows were allowed.
Imagine seeing the sort of cuts and blood that were on Evo 6. I'd say if the 6000 liked the kickboxing at NR3 imagine greeks, turks, cros etc cutting each other up with elbows.
This might be an angle for Tarik.
modified A1 rules, with elbows but no knees.
What you say about that Johnny, Zambo Rambo, allanf etc???

Hi Voice,
An interesting point you brought up. A-1 should bring this rule in, since there is no grappling involves and the fights are still allow to flow like kickboxing. Elbows is the way to go!
Speaking of crowds, next year will be interesting in Victoria since most of the gym have decided to joint with the WMC, I can see the changes in crowds. I would have to say with out the Greek and Turks fans, we can still pull easily 1000 to 2000+ crowds per show.

Imsta... you honestly think a non-Zambidis card in Melbourne can draw 2000+ ?
I doubt it.

I don't drink beer... but hey, let's put a shot of Tequila on it :)
I don't think Melbourne could do 2000+ without Zambidis -- yet. We're in a rebuilding stage.
But hey, I hope I eat my words and shout you a Tequila on that!

Thai Vs Khmer and some other local talents, I am sure we can pull a big crowd. My last show I stuffed up the tickets and I heard many of the fans went home because they were waiting too long to get in. I am confident we can get it right next time. Like I said, there are 25000+ Cambodian in the Springvale area. If we get 10% from them I am sure we will get 2000+.

No grappling but.
In all honesty I'd rather see a guy get ko'd with a clean shot rather than the fight being stopped after an elbow.
But if the elbows where free flowing and without grappling, why not?
And I still think Mike can pull a bigger crowd than 6! The most biggest ticket seller in Australia and Europe. 14k on hand to watch Mike in athens, thats time and a half of what we have here.

ZR, if you're smart you will take over website management of Iron Mike's site and advertise with all that activity.
1c per hit per ad, you will be a rich young man in no time...

Ive only just returned to the sport after a 5 or 6 year absence!Oh and guess what i went to no respect and evo 6 and whats changed in 6 years?
Qld is still moving forward with Thai and Melb which is closer for me to travel too, im in Tassie ,is still Kickboxing except with a few token flying kness thrown from the outside! No fighter disrespect intended Zambidies is a great fighter but Melbourne is caught in a time warp that doesnt include knees! Rebuilding faze? says another post when was their ever knee fights their?
OG
Matt J
09-12-2005, 11:46 PM
and how exactly will knees alone save victorian kickboxing? i mean, is that your solution?
i'd suggest oh i don't know, maybe the complete lack of marketable and world class fighters in victoria at the moment? it it wasn't for the annual zambidis fight would there even be a major show in melbourne? its not healthy when an import is the only thing keeping the sport in the bigger arenas instead of the suburban town halls.
the people will turn up if someone inspires them enough to, it dont mean sh!t if the entire card is fought with knees or not. it only matters to elitists who look down on anything that doesnt include knees.
