Last Night yet again Gurkan Ozkan defended his king of the ring belt in style with a stunning combination of hooks knocking out his opponent from Germany Paul Adamic in the first round!!!
But then came controversy when another fighter from Pauls Corner jumped into the ring 105kg fighter came up to Gurkans face and started challenging him. Security was right at the scene but then a rampage of 100s of fanatacal Gurkan Ozkans Turkish Fans entered the ring and started hitting the 105kg Fighter.
Momemnts later Tarik Solak spoke to the crowd saying this, There was a bit of a controversy about the situation that he challenged Gurkan Ozkan and we have accepted his challenge and Gurkan Ozkan will fight the idiot in April in Germany where there is currently a 35kg diffrence between them!!!
On a good note Gurkan Ozkan looked ripped mean and fast and taking the world to his feet yet again made more fans around the world!!!!

Was it a good show? who won the 79kg 8man.
There is always constroversy when Gurkan fights one way or another.
I still respect him as a person and fighter regardless.
I guess that is why people don't like him.
In Gurkans case..
Gurkan breeds Controversy! hahaha...

I'm confused, I thought Gurkan was the heavyweight king of the ring champion, yet you said the 105kg fighter that jumped the ropes to challenge him, and was beat up for his efforts, currently has a 35kg weight advantage... that would make Gurkan a 70kg fighter, that's K-1 MAX weight, are you sure about that allanf or was that a typo??

why go to germany for fights when we have true champions here? in the 80 to 90kgs or is the problem that our fighters wont lay down?

wasn't gurkan meant to retire in 2001 when he was beaten by Ian jacobs? or doesn't he have a pension plan yet?

what a pack of savages. Just like when the Swiss team knocked out the Turkish team in the World Cup qualifier in Turkey the damn Turkish SECURITY (yep security) start beating up the Swiss players in the tunnel.
And yet another farcical, staged fight coming up. Aren't we all lucky the circus is being played over there.
Hey Humble, why don't you say something bad about Gerkan and challenge him, as by the logic in the above report, he will be duty bound to fight you.
Lucy, you respect people too easily.

Gurkan Knocked his fighter out within 1 minute with a barrage of punches, then the big natsi idiot jumped into the ring like a hero and pushed Gurkan, Security was in their within seconds but they couldnt stop the Turkish fanatiks, the whole stadium was packed with Turks and everyone started throwing punches, he deserved it!!!
ps: i think backstage Tariks men hurt him quiet a bit, damm well he deserved it!!!

allan,
so in your opinion this wasn't staged??
Why did Gerkan suddenly decide to fight the guy rather than say just beating him up backstage as you said?
Why would the guy jump in the ring if Gerks ko'd him fair and square? Not much to argue about I'd have thought?

Voice you got it all wrong, He jumped into the ring like a hero and pushed Gurkan, Gurkan did not retaliate at all, as a true gentleman he walked away!!!
I did not say nothing about Gurkan beating him up or nothing backstage all i know is he was well hit by the Turkish fans.
Tarik Solak came out later and spoke to the crowd saying he wanted to fight Gurkan and we have accepted the challege, doesnt matter how big he is and what ever the weight division, Gurkan will fight anyone anywhere anytime!!!

Don't worry Voice, about the RESPECT WORD I am sure u dont really know what it means....
One thing is for sure Gurkan has always showed respect to me, so I will respect him back, we have been over in Japan together to watch the K1 Grandprix 1998, he has always been a gentleman, taken me out to cafes in Melbourne fought my fighters over the years we have won a few fights against him, so at the end of the day he has been a warrior in the ring and a gentleman out of the ring.He has ALWAYS SHOWED RESPECT
to me, regardless of how I feel towards him over the years.
Now you know why I respect him in the ring or out of the ring.
We do have a bit of history over the years. I have known Gurkan for 12 - 13 yrs.
Voice you said I respect people to easily.
It is people like you I disrespect because you don't even know me or Gurkan and you always have something smart to say, where Tarik or Gurkan is concerned or myself.....
If people respect you which you have shown none of that where I am concerned I will respect them back.. is that not how respect works....Voice..

I met Gurkan at the airport the night he flew out to Germany. All I can say from meeting him is that he is one of the nicest people I have ever met. He is a true gentlemen, and was quite surprised that my 10 year old brother knew who he was. We had a chat for a few minutes and he really does respect his fans and people who follow him. I've followed him for a few years now and I can say that meeting him was definitely an experience. I don't really have anything to say about his "circle of three" team, but as long as he is still participating in the sport, still making a name for himself and still winning fights, then good on him. We spoke about a rematch with Zambidis.. he said it is most unlikely, but Zambo is a great fighter and he hopes maybe next year it can happen, if not he will continue to fight in Europe.
I have not had anything bad to say about Gurkan or his team or his management, but I follow his fights too. Does this mean I'm an idiot? Please..

Ah good grief...I've heard 6 yr olds make more sense than this. Why don't we start a thread listing the dubious and appalling actions of certain individuals if you want to know why I have a hard time respecting some people?
The thing is Lucy, I've been getting involved in this sport because I want to not because I have to, and it isn't about making money for me. Therefore I will only be dealing with people I want to and not those I don't like.
I'm glad we have established where we both stand, I don't need you and you don't need me. You can stick with your tired old Turkey vs the World stuff, I want to do something more interesting. I don't know why you are even bothering to come to XP12, is it so you can sit on the official table and look important?

Just saw backstage footage of what really happend after the commercials hit my god those Turkish fans belted the crap out of him, they had to officially get police into the ring to stop the mayhem it was that crazy. Everywhere he tried to run he would get hits from hundreds of fans.
It was the number 1 news broadcast in Turkey, Gurkan Ozkan has truly made a name for himself as he is rated currently the number 1 sport stars in Europe, he has established him self a very big fan base and i mean very big!!!
PS Lucy dont worry about these morons, they are all jealous and cant hack it, just leave them alone they can keep talking it up in their but in their heart they know the truth hurts.
As for the show it wasnt too bad with a suprise Turkish rising star knocking out the Legendary Prince Amir and going all the way to the final until been stopped by a Dutchman forgot hes name Spong or someone, He was truly a class above, definately from what i saw can mix it up with any of the top fighters around the world, the kid finished off both 3 fighters within 1 round of each, exellent technique he had.

Don't know who he has beaten, but the first he won within 45secs on KO (right hook). The second went down three times with different techniques before his corner threw the towel (first round still). He didn't beat that last count so it's in the books as a regular KO.
In the final his opponent went down three times, but did make it to the second round. Then he also went down on KO by a knee of Spong.
Wonder who can stop Spong now.... I think his winning streak is like 23 fights now. It's time he's going to fight people like Mes, Simson, Pajonsuk, Shakuta, etc...

Sponge is the got damn owner!!!!! He owns everyone. Can we get a K-1 or Superleague appearance already???!!!
I will probably contact Pete here soon..... We have an offer he may take a liking too.
I think he's 19 or 20. He's indeed naturally growing out of his former weightclasses, he now easily weighs 76 KG. He's still scheduled for the -75KG tourney. He'll probably follow the road Balrak did, and become a heavy weight sooner or later. He has the length and build for it. His trainer also said in an interview that that could be possible.
Yeah, he's very hard to stop right now. He's still in negotiation with Pride btw, for their new standup league.
Here's the Spong vs Vielvoye fight: very technical, high level muay thai:

actually to be honest, i've seen some of gurkans (the number one european sports star!) fights overseas, and trust me, the guys he is fighting are god awful but gurkan is still managing to look terrible. this is not dissing for no reason, this is serious. everyone, including tarik, knows and acknowledges he is shot (everyone except for gurkan of course) so quite simply they are pursuing different avenues overseas to the naive and uneducated turkish fight market. Such as set up opponents who have still managed to make gurkan look as shot as he is, and wwf style storylines. expect more 1 and 2 round ko's because they've strarted to scrape the bottom of the barrel as far as opponents are concerned, after gurkans near misses against a couple of the greek stiffs he fought this year. look forward probably to more epic clashes against guys with 0-0-0 records (such was the staggering record of one of his "opponents". who knows what they announced it as)
gurkan really shouldn't be fighting anyone dangerous anyway, he will probably get hurt. and i do mean that. seeing broken down fighters get hurt doesnt really interest me.
Rob McIntyre
06-12-2005, 10:08 AM
I just hope Gurkan is making some money out of all this. I would hate to see Tarik take him for a complete ride and make squillions while gurkan gets crappy purses. I have a feeling that is what is happening. A shame, he really is a tough guy, and fights hard, if he is making money for tarik and turkey (sounds like he is) then he deserves a fair cut, before he breaks down permanantly.

But I think the thing most people here object to is the way he is being paraded around like he is CURRENTLY the King of the world.
