Does everyone know that Bruce "Preacher" Macfie is in Thailand for the S1 World Championships on Kings Birthday weekend. In the 8 Man tournament are:
Buakaw
Arslan
Black D'King
Yucel Fidan
Skarbowski
Paulo Balicha
Michal Vancura

Best of luck to Bruce, he should have plenty of confidence after his performance against JWP (i know he already has self confidence) and when he wins it will be the next step towards K1

Good luck Champ.

I think it is at 72. Bruce fights Skarbowski first and apparently Skarbowski is 69kg.

Max Power, he's the man who's name you'd love to touch. But you mustn't touch! His name sounds good in your ear, but when you say it you mustn't fear! Cause his name can be said by anyone

2 weeks after his biggest challenge he steps up on a truly world stage...

Tough opposition but this could be his stage..

Good luck to the Preacher...

Just thought id jump on and add my little bit.
In thailand Training at Fairtex camp outside Bangkok, training is going awesome, love this gym. Fights are just around the corner, Monday night, start at like 11pm though(least it will be cool), Had the press confernece yesterday which was quite a fuss over here. Not like in Australia. Weigh in is sunday arvo, 72 kgs so pretty much get to just weigh in as i am without too much hassle.
First fight has been changed now to the Turkish fighter i beleive his name is Fidal, big puncher, fought in last years S1.If results aren't already posted next time im on here ill do my best to post them,to best of my memory anyways.

VERY tought opposition in this tournament, even with Buakaw out.

Fidan (MacFie's 1st round opponent) is past his prime, but still has a lot of fight left in him judging by his performance in a recent tournament in Holland.....Fidan was most known for beating down Sangtiennoi en route to a KO back around 1999. He's a seasoned pro who has fought some of the best international names out there.

Personally, I think the winner of the tournament will be either Skarbowski, Arslan, or Balicha, but there's a lot of talent in there so it's anyone's game. If Buakaw was still in, I would simply state Buakaw wins it all.

In case some may not know, Paulo Balicha is the flashy fighter from Portugal who lost controversially to Kohiruimaki in K-1 Max. He won an S-1 tournament in Europe just recently.....I would say he is similar in style to Serkan Yilmaz & Kamal El Amrani.

All the best Bruce

This looks to be a tough line up of talent.

Paulo Balicha would have the most spectacular techniques out of that group..... but as Ghodrat pointed out... Arslan and Starbowsky are
tough to beat as well. Both of these guys have competed in the S1 before and know what to expect.

cheers Spada

From Ax forum..

the S-1 was won by Lamsongkhram Suanaharjawee. He beat Wanlop Sitpholek in the final. Preacher did well knocking out Fidan in his first fight with a peach of a straight right in round 2. He then got outpointed by the eventual winner in semi's who was just too strong in clinch. Wanlop destroyed an Iranian fighter in the 1st roundand then beat Skarbowsky in the semi's, Skarbowsky was a little too small and shook up in the 1st and also his first fight against Paolo Balicha would have taken a fair bit out of him, this fight between Skarbo and Balicha was fight of the night for me, Balich's speed causing problems for Skarbo in 1st two rounds but Jean Charles had a big 3rd to take the decision. Lamsongkhran had an easy first fight destroying the Italian with elbows in rd 1. The final had him too tall and strongf or Wanlop in the clinch and dominating with big knees.

Conrrats to Preacher on putting on show on the world stage..
