View Full Version : WAR ON THE SHORE - all class !!!

hey guys,

well myself and the JTS crew all took off to the pub last night eagerly awaiting the fight night FOX 2 had in store for us... and what a cracker it turned out to be !!!

from start to finish the show brought us Thai boxing at its finest, so much so that i couldn't 'not' talk about it.

the fights that stick in my mind are:

Kris Bayntun Vs Wayne Mead:

firstly IMO, a bad decision. Kris in my opinion won 4 of the 5 rounds easily. regardless of the decision though, Kris is a fighter to watch thats for sure. i'm certain that he'll be the next big thing in the welterweight division. Kris displayed a real natural and rhythmic Thai style that would do joe proud. he is completely relaxed in there, he uses his angles perfectly... he's very different from joe's other fighters, he has i different manner about him entirely. he is def one to watch.

Ross I'anson Vs Ben Radley

well as far as i know ben had been out of the game for a while... nonetheless, Ross (being Ross) got on his bike right away and went to work... Ross is the kinda fighter that you think, "Sh!t" i hope he's fit or he's gonna gas out in the 3rd. but true enough he just keeps going... and going and going and going. he's like the damn energizer battery. the fight was a real good war huh. i thought it got a bit "loose" at times but certainly NOT sloppy or scrappy. another great fight for the night.

DDD Vs Kerr

another exciting flash of fury. a real crowd pleaser this one. eight counts this way then that, then BOOM, DDD gets caught with his own trademark finishing technique. that elbow clipped him right on the chin... a fight that from the opening seconds could have easily gone either way. Daniel could hardly believe it, he almost looked confused.

POCKET ROCKETS 1
Diamond Jim Vs Brodie Stadler

these two explode into action in round one and take it the whole nine yards. another brilliant fight with too much action to write about. diamond jim proving to be a little too clever for brodie at this stage. but the young brodie (who i think is still 17 yrs old) took the fight right up to diamond the whole way... now the thing that stuck in my mind about this fight was diamond jim's eyes. he never blinks... brodie is smashing punches etc into diamonds face and i hardly ever saw him squint let alone blink... amasing control and determination

POCKET ROCKETS 2
TS2 Vs The POM

actually i feel bad now that i cant remember the pommie guys name, and i feel bad cos he impressed me thats for sure. i thought TS2 would make easy work of him. which he did i guess... those straight right knees of aaron's are hard, but he wore a heap of them before he started to faulter. not much to say really aaron pretty much gave it to him, but he definately was a strong fighter. i noticed PEK in his corner which may indicate that the Pom has spent a bit of time at Rompo maybe gearing up for it (or maybe he's living in thailand now) anyway was good to see TS2 take the fight over the distance and not by KO for once.

finally, there was mark pease... sorry mark, but i had to laugh a couple of times there. you had that look of a trainer slash promoter who was trying really hard to concentrate on far too many things at once. it must be an absolute nightmare to run a show when you've got so many of your own boys on it. trying to get things running smoothly and still attend to your lads. but hey you pulled it off perfectly (i guess thats why they call you "too smooth" huh). nah seriously that was a top show. the fight quality was 100% from start to finish. its common place to get a good thaiboxing war on any FOX show nowadays, but to have them from the undercard all the way thru to the main events is one in a million.

recently hammer you were asking about FOX shows we'd like to see repeated, and i must say this one. we've seen alot of mega budget shows that bring us the quality we expect but this show despite being a small one, truly ROCKED!!!

Damian Trainor was the pom TS2 fought.

Great show. I was really impressed with Diamond Jim and Ross I'anson in particular. The main event was a great technical bout and the DDD fight was action packed, that's for sure!

BTW, I know that Damian had spent a lot of time training at Jitti's Gym before. Maybe he trains elsewhere in Thailand now, like the gym you suggested Tao..

I agree Tao about Diamond Jim hardly flinching while receiving and parrying a barrage of punches. Most people cover up, clinch or try to move away while DJ simply throws more techniques back until the other guy crumbles.
I thought DJ could have been awarded one or maybe two more 8 counts against his opponent in the grapple. Brodie looked caught several times with hurtful knees but I guess it is Qld and you grapple till you drop...

From what I heard Trainor, came from a boxing background. I have seen him fight in Cambodia beginning of this year, he got dropped the first round with a knee. Good hands, but terrible in the clinch.

Was a good show, just a shame the pub started out playing "restaurant music" over the top of it, kind of killed the mood a bit!

Hey Kris, great fight mate, love watching you fight.

Must be funny listening to Mike and Hammer mispronouncing your name the whole time. Actually I think they mispronounced Brodies' name as well.

LOL. Keep it up mate.

Max Power, he's the man who's name you'd love to touch. But you mustn't touch! His name sounds good in your ear, but when you say it you mustn't fear! Cause his name can be said by anyone

Well i must say i am blown away by the respone i have had during and after this show, and yes Tao i was a little stressed at time but it went well.
We are trying not to use all A class fighters cause as we all know there is some fantastic talent out there as you all saw on the night it was great and i must take my hat off to all the fighters and trainers who helped out thanks.

Tao maybe next year we will bring a few of your boys up so we will talk.

Cheers Mark Pease...
Ps thanks for the positive feed back Shaunw, and how have you been?

Hi Mark
Congratulations it was a great show. I couldn't beleive how DDD got clipped, but that's Muay Thai I guess.

Any chance fo you bringing TS2 to Melbourne next year to fight?
I think I saw an invitation on another thread. MT in Melbourne is on the rise!

Still kicking strong at 44!

Hi John

Yes both Pixie and TS2 were invited last year but with both boys usually booked out 12 in advance this happens, but with saying that i know they both want to come down there and fight as long as the fights are good and the purses are good belive me we will come for sure.
And thanks for the coments on the show to ...

Cheers Mark Pease

Hi John Cav,

We did invite Pixie & TS2 to fight in Melbourne back in May, but our show didn’t go ahead due a particular reason that I can’t openly discuss. We advertised the show on Kickboxing Mag etc, and it was such a shame that we had to cancel the show. Next year we will certainly invite them again and hopefully this time it will go to plan.

MARK been good thanks , starting to get my training happening from home now after being left without a gym, hoping to get back to my desired weight to get back in the ring in 2006. if training goes to plan and you need a fighter on the undercard for your shows in 2006, i would be honoured to get a chance(mod or full thai).
thanks shaun
