as a promotor i get the ****s when you book a fight and at the last minute a fighter dogs it for some crap reason. Here are some of the so called excusses:
Don't think i am ready for the fight (then why take it, you had the same time as the othe guy-DOG)
Didn't have enough time to prepare (3 months wasen't enough-DOG)
i just got transferred and i have to leave in 48hours (where was the war? what, he wasn't even in the army-DOG)
I won't be able to make weight (diet-the other guy did-DOG)
I don't think the money is worth it (then why agree in the first place-DOG)

i am sure that there a some real good reasons for fighters to pull out, this is not the issue. it is the fighters that pull for the above reason i am talking about. they don't relise the efect this has on the show and they think that they can be replaced at the last minute (or with nine days to go), which they can. At a price.
maybe the names should be listed in the mag so other promotors or fighters can see who these people are so they do not fall into the same trap.
i will start the list:
ADAM BAILY

Yeah, these types of uncommitted 'fighters' are a real detriment to the sport and can create some real headaches for trainers and promoters. When you guys turn up to a fight night and see only 7 or 8 fights listed you can thank these sort of fighters for that!

Ooo comon guys, no need to take it on fighters, with out them there would be no fights. Why not get the fighter to explain their reason why they couldn't fight.

I like this thread and I agree with fighters being exposed. Promoters put in too much effort and hard work at the end of the day and some fighters just dont realise this or even worse couldnt give too ****s...

good 1 ecks we shpuld start a blackball list of both AMS & Pros who have regular heartlage strains before fights.
anyone disagree?

I think you'd better read the latest issue, seems not everyone agrees with public slanging matches..

hehe Mick...great post.

You are quite unique as you are both fighter and promoter so you have a good perspective.
Maybe add to your DOG list those guys who make no attempt to cut the weight in order to gain an advantage on the day (gee, wonder who?).

IK Mag does not need to publish it, the 'discussion' here makes these things quite open.

Indeed, Bushi...95% of the time the fighter should be commended for their efforts and their dedication...as all of us do here.

5% of the time though, it should be discussed when a fighter does not meet the obligations to the promoter and fans that they have AGREED to accept, as Mick says.
'Having a go' at a fighter (as long as it is factual) should be no different to having a go at our cricketers, boxers and footballers.
I believe it is called living in a democracy.

great thread!

how about also including people that talk up a match and almost guarantee you the fight then DOG it for an easier one too?

Or ones that DOG it in the actual fight, like that recent fiasco with van de boss and slowinski?

Now you guys know why you get a drop in replacement when fighters pullout for whatever the reason..I am sure every Promoter has experienced that...
That was one of my answers for one of your last posts Voice...
Regards
Lucy Tui
It is just part of the game with fighters they may not be mentally prepared enough or unfit always something....
Welcome to the sport guys!!! over the years seen it happen to so many promoters...that is some of the reasons why you get mismatches.....

And what did Adam Bailey do anyway?
When was that?
He fought on our BF4 show and seemed professional enough.

And promoboss, what is a 'heartlage' strain? I'm still trying to work it out...

currently sitting on about 100kg. Fought at 95 before and am contemplating on wether to pack on some more weight for the bigger boys since they generally sit between 110-120kg or drop and remain in the under 95 class then i'd eventually have to deal with guys like carnage ......YIKES! cant win can i.

5 fights 3 wins 2 losses

voice, tried to get jni to get me one for this show, unfortunatly no go <img src=icon_smile_sad.gif border=0 align=middle>

prefer the muay thai over kb but to remain busy obviously will take the kb.

dazmon sorry mate was using an old army term:
HEARTLIDGE STRAIN - when ones heart muscle loses connections with ones balls.
Got the picture mate so when then balls shrink so does the heart.

Humble sounds like you're caught between a rock & a hard place.
when Carnage comes down you can size him up (hehehehehe)
I know how you feel years ago I use to battle to keep under 95kgs to fight but after my perth loss I said Fcuk it and then in to play with the BIG BOYS that was a learning curve, mind you back then there wasn't the same amount of super heavy's around so travel was on the cards. What we called a local fight was a nice drive to rockhampton from brisbane to fight in a nightclub at lunchtime while the cleaners are still there.

i dont think im gonna size up carnage just yet, ive already seen him in person and in action and know what he can do. not about to bite more than i can chew lol. he is coming down though. i might offer myself as a punching bag lol.

mick, jni is my trainer, you should know who i am, but thanks for letting me know about canberra. might get john to follow it up
