Use to be great especially when I use to go to the underage metro days and the free ticket giveaways! Also, do you remember the girl named Angela? The italian with freckles? lol. Last thing What happened to ALex dislexia???

Hi Janer
Yeah the KIX FM days were great... I was Station Manager as well as DJ for the last broadcast and it was the best time ever.
Why didn't we get a licence? Politics, my friend. When you had NOVA buying a commercial licence for $80 million, they didn't want KIX getting a free licence and cause competition. When we were on air we kicked everyone's butts and beat them to the punch with the latest music... I mean it was KIX that rediscovered Jagged Edge 'Let's Get Married' - a song that had died in 1995 - and we also played stuff like 'Find You' and 'Dance With Me' about 10 months before it hit the commercial networks.
As for the rest of the crew... Alex Dislexia is doing his own thing, Alex is involved in camera work for TV crews... Angela (Ang) just returned from a trip to Italy about a month ago (she's a cutie) and Artie K and myself are partners in script writing (we have several movie scripts that we're trying to get into the right hands at the moment).
So everyone's pretty much doing their own thing... as for the other stations, same boat; HITZ didn't get a licence cos like us they were too big and too much of a threat... the gays (JOY FM) only got an inner city licence which was clever as they do a good job and would have been a threat if they had a city wide licence... the Aborigines got one and I don't think they have the feintest how to even start up... the Christians got one but who listens to them, seriously.. and Swinburne Uni got the so called 'Youth' licence - its all politics :)

Geez Mike,
Lucky I don't take things personally!
From your statement, "the Aborigines got one and I don't think they have the feintest how to even start up... the Christians got one but who listens to them, seriously.. and Swinburne Uni got the so called 'Youth' licence "
I'm an aboriginal, who is a Christian, who works with approximately 250 youths every week, and come in contact with thousands of others every week in high schools across my city.
You sure didn't miss me!!!!
I suppose it would have been better to have been an aboriginal, christian, youth worker who is GAY!!!
Still enjoy yours and the Hammers call on Foxsports, and I did hear you a number of times on Radio - when I was on business in Melbourne.
And you were doing agreat job.
Regards,
Steve

No offence meant
Just that hthe Aboriginals have a licence but have no idea how to get the station going - no funds, no volunteers, no support. Also they got an AM licence which is more expensive to set up and maintain than an FM licence - go figure on that.
It is sad because there were many more deserving parties worthy of a licence than the Aboriginals.
As for working with the youth, well, I'm sure that those who listened to HITZ and KIX and SUB and CITY outweighed those that listen to Swinburne. How does information on Swinburne lecture times and Swinburne events contribute to the overall youth of Melbourne? Whereas KIX and HITZ had many youth charities (we raised $15,000 for Royal Children's Hospital), worked with kids, gave kids opportunities and in the end the licence goes to a college - just doesn't compute.
... as for the gays, full respect to JOY FM, like I said, they are great at what they do but have the confines of city limits only... as for the Christians, I'm Christian too, but doesn't meant I like listening to their station and nor do a lot of people. They got the licence because they are no threat and satisfy a religious quota.
Anyway, this was purely a statement about WHY KIX didn't get a licence and the sad state of affairs that those who did are in... it's a shame that hundreds of thousands of people saw their fave radio stations die because of politics.
Thanks for the comments re the commentary - we try our best to entertain and inform.
