Hi All
Just a reminder that WMC Battle Ground #7
is on tonight at 11pm on Foxsports.
This is a great show featuring Paul Slowinski and
Jorgen Kruth in a great battle,
Jomhod vs Wanlop (What a elbow fest!)
plus other great international match ups you would never
get the chance to see on Aussie TV
Don't miss it!
Cheers

I could hardly believe what I was watching in the Kruth vs Sting WMC title bout...it was a kickboxing fight.
What happened to the Sting's knees? He didn't throw 1 all fight and maybe threw a half dozen weakish elbows.
I know he had a virus in the lead up to the fight, but he should have taken apart Kruth just like the last time they met. I mean, Sting wasn't even checking the low kicks.
What's going on???<img src=icon_smile_question.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_sad.gif border=0 align=middle>

Hey Voice
I was disappointed too but Paul had a very bad bout of the dreaded "Bangkok Belly". In fact I got it too so we were both fighting for the loo while we were in Sweden. He was very ill for about 4 days. That took a lot out of him and in fact he was still not well during the fight. He still showed lots of heart to finish the 5 rounds. It was a struggle but what can you do when you want to just run off to the loo every 5 minutes.

yes Alan, very disappointing and not something you can simply call off easily.
He still fought quite well (for a kickboxing match<img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>) but certainly he would have Kruth's measure in his normal state of fitness.
Very sad watching him lose but I know you will have him fired up for big results in the upcoming K1.

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I missed this!!!!! I really wanted to see Jomhod vs Wanlop. Will there be a replay Hammer??
Paul Slowinski vs Jorgen Kruth was for the WMC world super-heavyweight title wasn't it??
I've never seen Wanlop fight, but I remember he was scheduled to fight The Preacher for the WMC title.

hey supermario,
i too was excited to see the jomhod/wanlop fight... and was then some what disappointed. i thought it was really boring. it seemed as though they were showing either too much respect for eachother, or they were being very weary of eachothers' skill... nevertheless, they didn;t really go off like they both can. jomhod took the fight fairly convincingly, but very carefully also... it wasnt very exciting after all... dont get me wrong though... the skill level was extraordinary, but just not so exciting for the viewer.
my opinion anyway.

Big point that Hammer missed mentioning last night was that Jomhod had been to OZ before when he fought a young Paul Briggs and stopped him with low kicks. Was it 1994 I think when also Tony Hill, Brad Carter and Nugget all fought Top Thais including Sittisak who Jomhod had not long before beaten both for the Lumpinnee and Rajadmnern titles.
Also Schiv mentioned the Sting looked leaner than when in Nz which he did but this fight happened I think at the end of last year which besides having the runs would also explain this.
Voice havent you seen many Muay Thai fights were guys fight at range for most of the time? It certainley wasnt a kickboxing fight as there were leg catchs and counters from this...Ive seen plenty of fights which dont involve grappling or many knee strikes...even in Thailand!
Anyhow it was great to see Jomhod in action and his fight with Wanlop though a little less action packed showed awesome technique from both guys. PLus what a cracker of an elbow to poor Arslan! Loved the replay were you could instantly see the massive cut open up.

lighten up Dutts, the 'kickboxing' remark was a little tongue in cheek.
It was not a typical Sting encounter however. Actually I wonder if fighting a lot of K1 does actually dull the MT fighting approach a little. I was expecting a big grappling encounter with Sting cracking Kruth so was surprised to see the range fighting.
Not a criticism per se, just a rather surprised observation.

Dont worry Voice im chillin<img src=icon_smile_cool.gif border=0 align=middle>
Was just making the comment also because I often hear there kickboxing when theres not much grappling/knee strikes going on. Schiv also made the comment during the Jomhod V Wanlop fight that they were kickboxing.
This also makes me think of all the time Ive heard refs same cmon guys this is a Thai boxing fight get the grapple on. Persoanlly I think this is ridiculous as if both guys are fighting at range thats the fight thats taking place and its not the refs job to change this. Different if there is no action taking place and the ref is urging the guys to fire up etc etc.
Just my thoughts

Thanks for showing such a quality program Foxtel !!!!!!!!
Really... we need to see more of these types of shows.
What a treat to see Jomhod going up against Wanlop.I agree it wasn't as full on as you would want it to be... but the extremely fast round kicks of Wanlop and the shear ring craft of Jomhod was brillant.
I had the pleasure of meeting Wanlop at the Sitpholek gym and he is
a really nice guy in person.Pity we didn't get to see him up against the Preacher.... maybe one for Soren to take on instead.
The fight between Arslan and Jomhod was shaping up to be a cracker.... until Jomhod landed an elbow and opened up a hugeeeeee cut
and that replay was full on as you saw the cut instantly open up.
Pity for the Sting,I would like to see a rematch between him and Kruth.
Supermario .........
Email me .... I might be able to help <img src=icon_smile_cool.gif border=0 align=middle>
