The way I understand it the problem lies with Tarik vs Boxing Authority. That promotion ban is probably coming back to haunt him. From that show at the EntCent though, I thought he had wiggled around it by getting Lucy to be the promoter.
Is this not the case this time Lucy?

Good to see modified thai rules being inforced by Tarik.

I think that the fight of the night has to be Mo Eddine vs Prince Hammid.

Under kickboxing rules this would be very close.... but with the knees
and extended grapple i believe the prince will out score Eddine.
Eddine has the power to finish the fight early.

Good match up.

not meaning to sound cynical, but I will be surprised to see anything other than kickboxing on the night. I will stand on my seat if there is full-on grappling and big knees thrown. Nearly all the guys on the card are kickboxers, you don't just suddenly start doing something you are uncomfortable with overnight but rather stick to what you know and serves you best.

One thing for sure, as it is mod thai, there should be no shinguards, which will make things a bit more interesting.

Well according to reports... Steve McKinnon shouldn't need an invite to throw knees.

F16 and Prince Hammid are more thai stylists so they should also be using them regulary

you are right spada, steve will be looking to send his nose through the back of his head with those knees im sure. dont think you should be so pesimistic voice. just remember, just because these guys are kickboxers and are used to fighting kb rules does not mean they dont train with knees. i think you will be quite suprised next sunday thats all im saying.

you mentioned an eleventh fight with kara murat vs tba aunty. does that mean that steve is not the main event now???

i hope he shows that cynical bugger voice what nsw boys can potentially do given the chance now that the rules have been changed. who knows i might slip a couple of quiet knees in myself now hehehe!
be interesting to see whether the adjusted rules means we dont have to wear shin pads. and also if the weigh in will now be done the day before as opposed to the usual controversial on the day weigh ins.

I have a feeling Hamid Vs Eddine will be fight of the night. Should be pretty full-on. Hamid gets better and better every time I see him fight, and Eddine looked super aggressive the only time I'd seen him fight. A win against Hamid would be a good feather for Mo's cap should he win.

McKinnon, Forrester, Johnson, Nezif, and Stanley on the same card is pretty impressive. We can bag all we like, but the fans/spectators that watch kickboxing on Fox get the opportunity at Solak's shows to see fighters from T.V live.
Not that often we get more than 1 or two pro fights on cards in Sydney, so this will be good for the newer Kickboxing fans (always fun seeing T.V people).

Does anyone know anything about Forrester's opponent?

i actually did not know eddine was a pro fighter now. is this his first pro bout? im just saying this cos im pretty sure dragonmir dubocannin is still amateur and they fought on tariks last show in sydney.

The line that separates amateur's and pro's in kickboxing has always been a bit blurry. From all accounts by promoters, it's tough enough trying to match fighters as it is. It would be a much bigger headache without the occasional crossing over here and there.

I don't know what you guys think, but I reckon it doesn't really make much difference after about 10 or so kickboxing fights. After all, it's just a classification. Anyone can declare themselves a pro fighter.

i spoke to lucy today downcut. she told me that badato, white, and duett are not fighting due to various reasons from injury to sickness but the rest of the card is as programmed. i can vouch for badato as i saw him on thursday and he is still looking very groggy from a bad bout of the flu. bit of a shame really cos he was focussed and looking good prior to being hit with the illness.

Not a bad night with a few mismatches.

Headhunter's fight was good to watch. I had never watched him fight before and he is so energetic. He pulled off some big air attempts with kicks, before stopping it with a leg kick.

Sniper showed a lot of heart but Yani Sofokoulos was conservative and picked his hots very well, landing most. Bad luck Snip!

Baris Nezif looked as if he had at least 10kg's on Stam Nas. The fight went the distance, with Stam constantly chopping Nezif's inside thigh, and Baris coming back with punch combos with that massive reach and weight advantage! Both tough boys, good fight.

Mo and Price Hamid was very tough, close and sometimes a little scrappy. Both wore good shots from each other but failed to drop.

Shannon Forrester got the better of his opponent who had a very awkward style and did a lot of taunting. In the end Shannon's workrate paying off.

I felt Kara Murat was holding back on Paul Smith, full credit to Paul though.

Mckinnon mangled Tzoros, I also feel was taking his time with the execution.

Downcut, I'm not going to sit on this forum and have you take away one ounce of Paul Smith's effort with a comment like that. How about, Paul did not LET him in, rather than Murat held back. Of course you are entitled to your opinion, but I think you are way off. Paul Smith will be the next big thing out of NSW, I guarantee people that. This kid just turned 19, has only been fighting for just over 12 months, and took the fight on 10 days notice. 2 weeks ago he defended his Australian Title and didn't know who Kara Murat was!

Murat did not hold back, Paul just didn't let him get anywhere near him. Thats my opinion anyway, and I'm pretty sure i'm not being one eyed and that all will agree when they see it on fox in a couple of weeks.

Jabout asked me last week how much I knew about Murat to which I said nothing. It is clear Jab and Paul knew little also about him as indeed Sniper knew almost nothing about his opponent. In fact these guys only just found out who they were fighting...yeah, great promoting hey.

I was sitting less than a metre from Jab and it was very clear they had a gameplan to stay on the outside and chop and move. This was very effective and a credit to Paul and Jason in coming up with at such short notice.

As I mentioned on the other thread, Murat only connected well with Paul on about 5 or 6 occasions, but these strikes were the strikes of a top line fighter and took their toll. Paul landed maybe 20-30 kicks, so don't think Murat had a walk in the park.

Yes, it was a mismatch on paper...someone going the distance with Zambo vs a 19 yr old...but guys like Paul rise to these occasions and gain enormous experience.

I agree with Jason...if Paul maintains his improvement and dedication, he will be one of the top fighters from NSW by the time he is 21. He may also consider MT given his height and reach, though this is something for Jason and him to discuss.

I take nothing away from Paul's effort, he did very well, has awesome technique and I take nothing away from him. And I too see the potential he possesses. However, nothing he threw at Murat threatened him at all. Murat just kept walking forward and taking those mid section kicks. I didn't like what he said at the end of the fight either, I don't like heroes myself, but I agree with it. Sorry mate!

Fighters at the end of fights saying 'I could have finished him earlier' are idiots. If that is the case then why wouldn't they? Who wants to stay out there a minute longer than they need to?

Maybe he could have finished it a bit earlier but it would have involved risk and it took Murat some time to get Paul's range under control. My thoughts are that Murat felt comfortable with himself that he could win, and played a very conservative game...a loss to Paul would have sunk him, especially as he is fighting Zambo in Melb soon (that will be boring...).

Notice how agitated Tarik got with the ref when he deducted a point from Murat in the first round? Would have been a shocker to Tarik's next fight to have lost, so the promoter/referee Tarik of old raised his head...and Murat waited for his opportunity to land some punches. He will be walking around today with tender ribs and some corked thighs i have no doubt...regardless of his silly comments.

What fight were you watching downcut?

Sheesh, the way i saw it, if paul as he mentioned himself had a bit more fitness, taking the fight on short notice and possibly still not being completely recovered from another fight he had two weeks prior, he might of upset alot of people.

He was doing exceptionally well and i would have easily given him the first round.

Make no mistake, murat did not like his kicks one bit, but experience has taught him to cover it well. Paul kicked him off his feet once or twice if im not mistaken too.

Top job paul, keep it up. Maybe MT is a good option as well.
