thanks big rocket, great list, I originally compiled one and found only queenslanders, would like to include guys from interstate too, but realised most of the stronger and experienced guys are here.
Can Elson cut 70? would be awesome if he can, also I'm hoping Ecklboom can cut 70. Waiting to see how that goes
If you interstate guys can put in some names such as Purcell, Foreman i know about, i want to cover the whole of Australia, so we may end up with 10 or 12 guys to pick from, if their are injuries etc then we will know who to call.
Also, how about Eli Madigan? he looked good at the warriors at war show.
My fights been postponed until Paul's next show on August 27th.

Greg Foley would definitely make that list though he is obviously a kickboxer...would be interested to know if his comeback includes a move to K1 rules.
How about Ben Spivak (not sure of weight). Scotty Butler, Shaggy King, Ash White.
The problem with the rankings is that there are really only about 5 or 6 actual K1 exponents in Max here, the rest are kickboxers or MT fighters.

Dom DeVanna could cut 70kgs
It'd be awesome to see DeVanna in this lineup but I can't see it happening without a lot of notice & maybe a couple of warm ups.

Top 10 K1 Max Australia.......
1. JWP
2. Elson
3. Preacher
4. Pixie
5. Soren
6. Behic
7. F16
8. Foley
9. Shaggy
10. Manigan
----------------------------------------------------------------------
JWP..... definately at number 1.A cut above the rest.
Elson.... "if" Warren can make the weight, then he would have to be right up there. He is naturally heavier then 70 kgs and with his long reach and awesome knees,he would cause dramas for the others.
Preacher,Pixie and Soren...... **** of the coin between these guys.Depends on who can put it together better. All are capable of taking it out.
Behic..... If he is still fighting, then he would make the line up.He has good experience in the Oceania MAX having fought in 2 tournaments.
The 3 x 3 mins rounds with limited clinching should suit Behics fast paced style.
F16....... Skill wise,he is up there, but i think that a taller and heavier fighter like Elson might put a end to him.Tough as nails
Foley..... Would like to see Greg make this field. Not sure if he is still fighting, but like Behic, the 3 x 3 mins are right for his style.
Shaggy...... underfeated, and the perfect event to test his skills against the best in Australia in a 8 man format.
Manigan...... "UNDER-RATED"!!!!!!!!!... derserves to be in there. He totally shut down Andrew Keogh and simply needs to be presented with opportunities like the MAX to further showcase his talents.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Others:-
Keogh :- out of form at the moment.
Aird:- inactive?????.... but could fit in
Riddler:- Retired
Purcell:- Any pull ots or injuries.... he would go in.Showed the Preacher that he is no push over.
White:- good fighter... but the weight and knees will find him out.
Sniper:- Too heavy
Boom Boom:- Same as Sniper??????
DeVanna:- Inactive and weight????????
cheers Spada

2. Preacher
3. Soren
4. Pixie
5. F16
6. Elson
7. Shaggy
8. Madigan
9. Keogh
10. Damager
I know they're all Queenslanders, but what can I say, I'm biased. Also, they had to be still active, which is why I did not include Behic or Foley, otherwise, they would've made the list also.

I don't know re: activity and weight and location but:
Collard
Curovic
Aird
Allen
Halford
DeVanna
Jenk
Baris
Oliver Warren
.....all good enough to sub for any guy.
Collard, DeVanna, Allen are boxers now, don't know if will convert back.
John obviously a little heavier.
Aird was injured last I heard.
Jenk was taking time off.
Baris still good enough to have as an entrant but don't know story with him.
Curovic.....still waiting for his return. Him vs. Elson on first round would be great start to tournie.
Didn't know Foley was returning.
Oliver Warren would be ok, four man tournie winner in WA and record like 7-1-1.
Oliver Olsen come back????
of course Elson, Pixie, Soren, JWP, Zam, Preacher even maybe smaller F-16 good line up.
Shaggy is ok too.

guys, some great picks their, lets try to find out which of these guys is inactive so their names stop coming up for future events.
As far as we know, we have to rule these fighters out due to these reasons, if we are wrong on any of these, please can their trainers or managers advise us through info@rising.net.au
Devanna- cannot cut 70?
Collard- is retired from kickboxing?
Curovic- is too big or retired?
Aird- is definately retired
Allen- is not training seriously?
Halford- cannot cut 70?
Jenk- retired, but I heard he may be returning
Baris- retired
Oliver Warren - dont know much about him more info please
Foley- doesnt fight with knees
Riddler- retired
Sniper- cannot cut 70
Boom Boom- maybe cannot cut 70
F-16- still popping up but a natural mid 60's fighter
Spain- cannot cut 70
Shaggy- need more info, sounds good
White- cannot use knees, maybe retired
Keogh- need more info
Their are some other names we have, remember we have to look to the future, and try to include guys from all over Australia, these guys may not be as strong as some of the queenslanders, but have the potential to be A level if they are brought on the right way.
Diesel- from Vic, We like, great future ahead
Foreman- from Mungkorn, loads of potential, will step up to fight the best
Milan Milosevic- Best in Adelaide, trains hard, great potential
Any more up and comers you guys can think of? We are also looking at using smaller xplosion shows to bring on these younger guys, we cannot allow such a generation gap to happen again, JWP,Preacher,Pixie,Soren, then............the next guys. We realise theres great guys like Elson coming down, F16 moving up, but need to look at the future of the sport also, guys coming out of retirement maybe be a hit locally, but generally its only going to stop the up and comers getting opportunities.
So lets sort out the list I made above, who is available, who is not, then we can make a realistic list.
Thanks again guys

zdk, zambo already has inroads to K-1, so there is no point bringing him here and stopping or slowing down our boys careers. He is an awesome fighter and im sure K-1 will keep inviting him back for a long time, K-1 dont want him to represent Oceania, they want him to remain greek, so they can bring in an Oceania boy.

thats right voice, after we have determined Australia's top 10 we will cut some off the elite list, only the top four will battle nz's top 4, but the other 6 are just as important as they are the future of the sport, and they can keep pressing for higher positions.

Haven't posted or checked out the site for a while but just saw this topic so,
Brad Aird - Definatley retired.
Agree with Roy on a couple of things. Have to bring up new talent,
I remember seeing Pixie have a fight against another young guy from his gym for practice the night F16 and I fought each other so alot of these guys have been around for 10 to 12 years. Good to see a few still going strong, but we do need to bring some new talent through. No one new has realy made a mark on the 70kg for a while. Hopefully we will see some new talent come through. Eli Madigan will be one to watch I think.
Must be some new up and comers interstate, come on all you Mexican's lets see if you can give the Queenslanders a run for our money. Max rules favour kickboxers as much as thai fighters so no excuses for what rules you have fought under in the past. Time to step up and take a chance.

Foley doesn't fight with knees????????
Didn't he train with amir... and then with the Bulldog gym????
This is K1 rules.... so Greg should have no problem with the limited clinch rule.
Roy........
If you are looking to the future and have only 4 spots available...then how about a 4 man or 8 man for the up and comers with the winner to get the 4th spot in the Oceania MAX.
It gives the "new breed" a chance to show their skills with an incentive to win.
4 man:-
Shaggy
Manigan
Diesel
Foreman
winner to join Pixie,Soren,Preacher and the other 4 fighters from N.Z
If you compare the talent pool...Australia has more fighters available at 70 kgs then N.Z.
Who would be in the draw from N.Z????
Jordan Tai and ?????

Rising - ask DeVanna and Curovic, you never know, besides....these two guys will put up great efforts and have a real chance.
Of course Soren, Pixie and Preacher if accustomed to the weight would be good additions as already mentioned. We know a little of how they look at the weight.
Warren has good record like mentioned, and has a win in a 4 man against Adam Bailey et al. from Phons.
Recently beat Demitry.....
A Warren vs. Shaggy bout would be a good good one, winner to get a place would be fair enough.
Warren is trained by Blair Smith, one of few men to beat Eugene.
Hope helps.
Mungkorn could help for sure.

I thought of choppa, but does he have to requalify again????
Going on past years,he problary has to go back and start again since he lost his qualifier for the K1 MAX finals against JWP.So you could be right.
Rex Redden????? is he still active and can he make the weight???
At 70 kgs,he is simailar to Ash White in the way that he is more of a 66 kg fighter.
Prince Hamid would have to be in there as well.
Arslan could also be in it again since he is based out of N.Z

ZDK- JWP is directly contracted to K-1 through us, so at this stage no he doesnt have to qualify to get a shot at the final 16. As we saw with the last MAX series he faced off with Choppa, who was the Oceania Tournament winner.
Glass Jaw- We tried getting Devanna for our first K-1 Challenge show last year but was told 72 minimum. Any news on Curovic? We are not sure if he is active, and can cut 70? Maybe you can help me with info from the west about those matters.

Why would Greg Foley take a side step in his current career path to take on a kickboxing fight?? It wouldn't make sense.
He is with one of the highest profile boxing gyms (Jeff Fenech) in Australia. Which puts him in great steed to further his fight career professionally and financially.
His has had 4 Professional boxing fights and won all four, 3 by KO.

keep an eye on Tim Drury as a potential...needs to put a few kgs on but has tremendous fitness and workrate and is keen to move to K1/MT as they train heavily in that at the Supalek gym. Outside the Top 10 at present but given a few fights will be a decent K1 fighter.

No offence to Oliver Warren, but he isnt up to these guys standards. He is still a developing fighter with alot of potential, but has only had 10 fights. Steve Zankle is alot lighter, he sits on about 63 i think..? and agen wuld b out of his league. As is Alan Pond, does he still fight?

Maybe read the whole post properly next time Sillybilly. As mentioned above no one said he should be ranked there right now but may be one to watch as a chance going forward. After all, aren't we looking for young guys to come through?

I accept constuctive criticism and use it to motivate me in training and fighting.
I understand what has been said and agree, I don't believe at this stage I am rated as top 10, however with the right fights and experience I have know doubt that I will be there.
It will be an honour to be in amongst these top fighters, as I respect them all for becoming what they are.
With out opportunities no fighter would become a success. I believe to be the best you have to fight the best.
