Graham vs Sefo Brothers! War of Words in NZ!

Hi guys

Just posting from Auckland on the morning of the first leg of the new K-1 Kings of Oceania circuit.

Yesterday's press conference at Sky City was a ripper with 'Mr Incredible' Peter Graham causing headlines when he ripped into the Sefo brothers.

I emceed the conference and asked Chief: "You've been talking up a showdown with Ray Sefo but you have to get through this new Oceania series first and starting with his younger brother Ronnie..."

Well, from there the Chief unloaded on Ray Sefo stating that Sefo was dodging him because of a money issue and that Sefo should fight for pride and not for money considering "Ray wears a watch that costs more than my house!"

"Ray talks and acts like he's the man but fact is he hasn't fought anyone in Oceania for a decade... last Oceania fighter he fought was Mark Hunt... and who really won that?"

When Ron was asked to comment, he simply said: "Ray doesn't give a s.h.i.t. about Peter and told me just to kick his ass!"

All the fighters look in good shape, with plenty of attention on Hiriwa TeRangi vs Paula Mataele... Paul Slowinski vs Syd Asiata (whose fans are predicting a KO win... go figure!)... and Chrisopoulides ve Daniel Tai.

ray sefo should give local boys a crack at him. even if it does mean a sacrifice in the pocket. stan the man gave plenty of opportunities to guys in his backyard and was willing to take a slight paycut. i think if some1 deserves a shot in your home town or region (oceania) give them a crack. it would show plenty of character to do so and i personally would like ray more for it! no1 likes to lose on their soil to a local boy and i think ray is trying to avoid it! not that i think graham can beat ray, but give some1 a crack thats all!

True that Stan gave locals some shots, fights like "the Bomber" and "Greco's" were fantastic. But that was not K1, wasnt that like a WKA title, too long ago and my memory aged more than I have.

Chief needs to win this thing that Dixon has organised first. I hope that Ronny is on form tonight and we have an upset.

whats the difference!? still the same guys fighting!! ray can fight outside of his contract with k1, just like stan did.

I think alot the top guys who are contracted to K1 cant fight outside of K1 depending on the contracts.

Stan was cool. Giving Peter Graham and Gurkan Ozkan a shot was pretty big. I think especially in Peter's case, as it was only after just turning pro.

lets not 4get all the other fighters stan gave an opportuniy to! barker twice, ohello 3 times, jez, greco, briggs, graham, gurkan, the late price harris etc. and though the purse would have been great for all of them, im sure he didnt necesarily need these fights to happen! i mean, he had more to lose than to gain by fighting these guys! thats probably the scary thing about matches in your home town against a local. they will always be dangerous with alot more tension in the air because i think theres alot more at stake! im sure ray knows and feels this way, but he should still give some1 a crack at him! i think graham and slowinski deserve a shot at ray!

theoreticaly if ray and graham fought anytime soon, i'd honestly lean towards graham.

Ray Sefo is a world class competitor who has fought some of the best. who has graham fought? Sure he's beaten the best oceania has to offer but thats like me beating everyone in adelaide and then thinking i'm good enough to fight JWP. Mark Hunt and Ray Sefo are the only current WORLD class athletes oceania has to offer and what has Graham done in comparison to them? when he has stepped up against current world class athletes (not including ignashov who is on his way out) then he can start to flap his gums. until then...

show a little respect.

who has graham fought? well how about mark hunt, ignashov, sam greco, stan longinides and remy bonjasky. of those guys he beat hunt (who you said is one of the only current world class fighters in oceania) and greco and ignashov. like it or not his resume IS world class. what makes you think they're in such different leagues? the biggest difference between them is k1 hates graham!
sefo is increasingly lazy over the last few years, often shows up overweight and unfit. if theres a time when graham would beat sefo its now.

monkey, you go and take a look at the only people peter has lost to. the short list include the very elite of world kickboxing. and although mark is one of my favourite fighters on the planet, peter has actually notched up a win against him.
i think pete would be able to notch up more wins against world renowned fighters if japan gave him a fair go. he rightly earnt his way there regardless of what you critics say and has not been given a fair go.

I agree with mattj. sefo tends to be a lazy fighter at times, and his weight also suggests this in many of his recent fights. his stamina has been affected by the weight gain and i always thought he would be more dangerous at a lighter weight. sefo when pushed and tested will always try to dissguise his weakness by doing his silly taunts! i gotta say, i dont like that!<img src=icon_smile_dissapprove.gif border=0 align=middle> graham does have a very realistic chance of beating ray, we just need to see it happen!
