I can't stop feeling things are stagnating a little here. In particular;
. K1 Max is 70kgs and we have world class fighters like JWP, Soren, Preacher, Pixie and Jordan Tai
. K1 HW is open weight and we have Sting, Chief and a few others
Given that K1 is the best set of generic rules to run these great 8 man tournaments, we are missing on seeing the whole range of fighters in between. Joe White, DDD, Warren Elson (tho he could make Max maybe), Johnny Halford, Charles August, Sniper (dare I mention him), even Gurkan etc etc.
Personally, I'm getting a little weary seeing rematches and uninspiring second-rate imports thrown in as cannon fodder to pad a program. (the Thais being the exception to this)
I believe the way to raise the consumer awareness is by the tournament structure and at the same time will give fighters greater experience and raise standards.
This also appeals to the TV audience as there is a finale and champion on the night. 80kgs is a great weight that incorporates the power knockouts of the heavyweights and the fast technique of the Max fighters.
Any thoughts?
