When was the last time JWP fought Full Thai....

There's all the talk of Zambo being the best kickboxer, JWP up there as the best Full Thai, yet all the promotions are K1 / Superleague..

Yes we know Full Thai can be more brutal and put fighters out quicker, but, it makes it SO hard to compare who IS the best cos of all these hybrid rules....

Just MHO...shame we can't always see Full Thai at these levels...

In my opinion, kickboxing and muay thai are as different to each other as boxing is to either of the aforementioned sports. I think K-1 serves as a middle ground where boxers, kickboxers and muay thai fighters can pit their skills against each other to find out who is the best exponent of their art. It's not a perfect medium, but it's about as close as we can get. The sometimes dodgy judging doesn't help either. Heck, newly-crowned K-1 Max winner Andy Souwer proved shootboxing shouldn't be counted out either. Superleague fights are single 5x3 min rounds, so I feel they should be conducted under full thai rules. Most of their fighters are muay thai exponents, so they should be allowed to showcase their entire repetoire. Just my two cents.

And a worthy 2 cents it was...<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>

I agree, I think K1 was always about pitting various striking arts against eachother, the judging issue is definitly a problem but the variety of styles is what makes K1 exciting.
MT and KB are and have always been completly different and IMHO should stay that way.

Also on a side note, I had someone say to me that "Karate stole KB from MT". Does anyone else actually believe this propaganda or what?
Obviously KB evolved from full contact Karate and MT has always been MT and had to be made even less brutal in order to get acceptance in other countries. IMO they are both awesome but they have always been different.
I realise there's alot of history there and I don't mean to stir up any politics, I don't even know why it bothered me but I guess it depends on what internet sites you read...in the end, what you read on the internet is just someone's biased opinion anyway.

k-1 great tournament no doubt about same as superleague....... they should just do muay thai for to muay sactions also some fighters like the no elbow's rule so if the want make k-1 mod thai and also another full thai dat's a example u know also that way people can have quailty promotions with like $100,000 prize money........

Hey Madmatt

From what I have read in the past KB was invented by the Japanese in the 70's. I think if you read the an article called the blet is in the ring it will give an you an insight into this.

Man I like that article,
I'm not surprised everyone adopted Thai techniques after being constantly smashed by them that just seems like common sense, they should give them credit where it is due though.
I've read other articles on the internet that are of differing opinion to this one. I guess it just depends on the author's personal beliefs.
