Sorry don't know how to send it mate. Visit Tarik's web site and look under events.

Looking bloody good fella's.

Three of the best western Muay Thai fighters in Dawson, Chopper and JWP plus the great kickboxer Zambidis. Really, those four on their own should be in the final in Japan, no questions asked.

paul c
19-10-2002, 09:51 AM
Wouldn't it be great if Baris Nezif was in it.

Though, he's fighting in Sydney a couple of weeks later, so perhaps it's not possible.

I totally agree Glen.

These tournaments are such excellent value for us spectators.
Non tounament shows with this many Star fighters fighting single fights would just be out of the question. The promoters would have to fill venues double the size we're used to now so they would be able to pay the individual purse money.

I think with the style that Wayne Parr has he may struggle to make the final without some quick Ko's. This is not ot bag JWP as I hope he wins it, but I think this time he may struggle.

Glenn
20-10-2002, 11:41 PM
Do you think JWP's relative inactivity over the last year will disadvantage him?

paul c
25-10-2002, 05:51 PM
I'm not sure about the inactivity for Wayne, though, he has had at least a couple of fights that I know of.

Still, not as many as some of the other guys I guess.
If track records are any sort of indicator, Mike Zambidis and Daniel Dawson would probably look best on paper, because of their tourney wins.

Steve

Hey Guys,

Although the poster has JWP, my news is that he doesn't know anything about it!
But Tarik has just put him on there!
However Tarik, may talk to him about it this weekend, depending on how he goes with Jenk.
BTW, I think in a 8 elimination like K1 MAX, working on boxing skills with Rod Waterhouse (his former trainer & Paul Briggs current trainer),
I think will enable him to do very well!
It maybe wishful thinking, but the thai style isn't aproblem for JWP, so he just has to work on his hands - and I believe he has a good team available to help him do this.

paul c

I hope Wayne will be in it Steve.

He's put enough into the sport to deserve such a large payday. And I think he's tough enough to work his way to the very end.

The winner of this event is going to have to be pretty lucky,
Imagine even if you end up beating Mike Zambidis in a 3 rnd war, only to have to face a much fresher Dawson next, and then Parr in the final. Hehe bloody hell, I think I'd give this tourney a miss as competitor.

Regardless, the line up is spectacular as is, I can't wait to find out who else is going to be involved.

paul c
28-10-2002, 07:15 AM
Only a couple of weeks to go now,
surely someone must have some info on who else is fighting?

Also, can anyone confirm if Wayne is definitely fighting or not?

Last years K1 Max event was for me without doubt the best show of the year. It had such an incredible atmosphere. I have a feeling that this show is going to sell out pretty early. I know most of us regular Melbourne kickboxing crowd will be going, but don't chance not getting in by waiting to buy your tickets at the door. I'm sure the crowd will be bigger than the last event at the Town Hall, and I believe that was over-sold.

I wish Amir was in it again.
Man, wasn't he great last year. I realy wonder what would of happened had he not got that massive head/nose butt of Mike Cope.

remy
28-10-2002, 05:21 PM
There is still 4 weeks Paul. Anything can happen in that time. Tarik is still probably organising the card.

remy
28-10-2002, 05:23 PM
I just purchased my ticket and got stuck up on the balcony. Apparently the only floor seats left are the $200 ones. So I guess that there might not be any seats left at the door.

Hey,

I would have sworn this show was on mid month.

I don't know what I was thinking.
Maybe the Fightforce show.

paul c
28-10-2002, 11:44 PM
I'll keep my head down Janer.

Though, I'll have to get there early and hassle for one of the good looking babe seats. Other wise I'll be shooting ropes all night again.

Just like to let everyone know that I will be on the K-1 and looking to take it out. I have had some pretty bad luck over the last week and if I have to hurt three people to get $10,000 I am going to do it. All the boys are tough and it's going to be a good night but I am training hard and have more motovation then ever before. I have a renewed drive and feel like I am 17 again. I am training with Paul Briggs everyday in the morning with Rod Waterhouse making sure that I am pushing my self to the limit.
Can't wait till the 26th and if your in the crowd and want to say hello just come up after the fight and I would be glad to have a chat.
Place your bets gentleman!

Great news! I heard JWP pulled out but here is the latest! Should be friggin awesome!

JWP, Daniel Dawson and Michael Zambidis are the best in the world without doubt. Its a pity that BARIS isnt in there. Why wouldnt you fight for $10,000 then you could make it big in Japan? But instead he will be fighting a virtual unkown kickboxer in Sydney for $2,000 or so? I dont see why he doesnt compete in the k1-max.

paul c
05-11-2002, 07:16 PM
Maybe simply because he was booked for that show first.

Though, It doesn't seem like Baris has taken a big interest in 8 man eliminators. Which is pretty strange because I imagined he would excell at these. Most of the fights I've seen him in are over very quickly.

Does anyone have more names for the line-up?

I thought it would be good to see Cope in it again. I saw him Boxing a few weeks ago and he looked pretty sharp.

with this ozkan fight with stan
i reackon that stan should fight adam watt.
there are both the same weight, and are both properly at the end of there fighting careers. i think it would be and awsome fight for those on hand to see it.

what do you guys think?

rebel
07-11-2002, 12:20 AM
They fought before in Japan ages ago and Stan won on a first round TKO. haven't seen it but read about it on a k1 website a while ago. But before they both retire it would be nice to see it again in Australia!

Personally i think the stanv ozkan fight will be ****ing boring. Its going to look like a regular sparring session and neither will attempt to ko each other

I'd bet a big dollar it will have some explosions! With those styles colliding it has to!

paul c
08-11-2002, 06:20 PM
Can you imagine these guys centre stage.

It's going to be good.

Neither guy has a history of not liking to mix it up centre ring.

Stan's combo's are Poetry in Motion.

OK so far we have in the MAX

JWP, Dawson, Zambidies, Choppa & Jordan Tai who last night qualified in a NZ max 4 man eliminator. All we need to know who r the other 3.

Great news about JWP, he is my tip to win it. He'll walk through all of them and will be very unlucky to be stopped. GO JWP TAKE THE MONEY HOME!!

Traad, I seriously cant wait for it! I thought Jenk was fighting as well?

remy
09-11-2002, 11:42 AM
Jenk will be in it. I guess Mike Cope should be in it to for he made the final last year. That would leave one spot in the tournament.

remy
09-11-2002, 12:11 PM
If Dawson is in the k-1 max, why is he having a boxing fight 2 weeks before it?

paul c
09-11-2002, 11:45 PM
Hey guys,

I thought I had read somewhere that two of the fighters from the NZ K-1 Max show will be making it over to the Aus event.

Traad, can you confirm this.

I'm happy to hear that Jordan Tai has qualified. He's an awesome fighter.

remy
10-11-2002, 12:57 AM
I know that the 2 K-1 NZ finalists will be in the K-1 oceania 2003, but I thought that only one of the four in the k-1 max NZ was going to come to the K-1 max. Only 2 weeks to the k-1 max, Jordan Tai doesn't get much of a break. If Cope is in it, as well as Chopper, that is 3 NZ'ers, 4 australia, and 1 greece.

Koshy
10-11-2002, 09:26 PM
Just to clarify, is this K-1 fight with limited grappling or proper full time grappling. I know this might seem like a stupid question but in the last few K-1's each ref has had a different rule on how long the grapple is allowed to go on for. eg- from memory Malcom Bulma lets the grapple go on for ages.

Glenn
10-11-2002, 11:00 PM
Yeah, it depends on the ref. Some break it, others let it go. That rule seems to be up to the refs interpretation.

remy
11-11-2002, 12:28 AM
It's limited grappling, continuous work while grappling or it should be broken up. The ref's in Aus have been confused with the rules in recent years. There was a fight that the ref stopped on a technicality of there being 2 knockdowns in a round when the rule is 3 knockdowns in a round.

Koshy
11-11-2002, 12:28 PM
It can have a huge impct on the result of a fight. If a guy like Zambidies or even Jenk to a lesser degree can hold on and nulify the grapple then they have a huge chance of winning the K-1. However if it is allowed to continue as it was in the last couple of K-1's I dont give ethier of them much chance. Perhaps if Zambidies can land a few shots early?
And just looking at the poster you have some great Thai stylist in Dawson, Parr, and chopper who all have lethal knees.

paul c
11-11-2002, 12:46 PM
I think you're right Koshy.

It's going to be interesting to see what Mike's approach is. I'm sure he's going to try and avoid last years incident from ever happening to him again in a knee fight, but at the same time I can see Parr and Dawson getting close and digging in with their knees.

So, I expect we're going to see some fireworks from Mike early on.

Glass Jaw

So....... who's in the K-1? What are the brackets?

I've heard usually they're allocated the day before fight night, but someone said JWP is up against J. Tai.

If so,

Chopper vs ?
Dawson vs ?
Jenk vs ?

Who else is in it - Cope, Collard, J. Allen, Elson, Ekkleboom?

Whoah!... Jordan Tai is no where near the level to step into the ring with JWP.. Lets face it , early in the year, Jordan was beaten by Greg Foley, as an amature, and considering he is a young novice,, i feel that he is getting thrown to the sharks on this one. All the other fighters are hardened Pro's.. Am i mistaking Jordan for someone else? Or is it who i stated ( Rapheal Tai's brother? )

Cheers

would i be able to get a copy of that K1
video. last years event with chopper wining it.
just tell me how much you want?

Glass Jaw
11-11-2002, 07:04 PM
Yep, it's Raph Tai's bro.

He's skilled, but not on the level on JWP.
But then who is?

IMHO JWP is up with Halford, Zam, Chopper, Dawson and Collard in my opinion (as the top 6 or so around that weight).

Then guys like Elson, Curovic, Jenk, Baris, Raph Tai, DeVanna, Cope Eugene and Allen.

Then Zammit, J. Tai etc.

remy
11-11-2002, 10:23 PM
Baris is in the top group without a doubt. Kickboxing rules Jenk will be in the top as well.

paul c
12-11-2002, 06:27 AM
Sooty,

First off, I agree that Jordan isn't quite up there with the likes of Parr.

Just thought I'd mention the fight with Foley though. I believe there have been several re-matches, so perhaps we might even be thinking of different fights.

But, the last one that I saw late last year at RIchard Bradford's show where Behic fought Duett, and Tosca fought Steve Jez.

Anyway, in that fight, Foley was cut pretty early on, and it went to the judges cards.

The judges gave it to Greg Foley. Personally, I thought it was very close and could have gone either way. A lot of supporters there believed that Tai had just done a btt more scoring.

Actually, perhaps I'm getting the brothers mixed up also.

If it's the lighter brother of the two. Not the one who fought John Hallford at Lucy's KB4 event in Manly this year, then yes I agree with the rest of you. Absolutely not to the level of the big 4.....Parr, Dawson, Chopper and Mike. But perhaps not too far off the level of the lesser experienced guys that we've seen face the big 4 in other 8 man events.

But, if it's the heavier of the brothers going down in weight, still not at the same level, but not too far off. He seemed like a very tough boy in the KB4 event where he faced John Hallford.

Help myself and Sooty out guys,

Which one of the brothers is the fighter in the Green,

Raph or Jordan?

http://www.fortunecity.com/olympia/imran/723/Coveredpromos/2001/bradford/pics/brad_1022.jpg

I'm pretty sure it's Jordan, but not absolutely certain.

Hey Paul.
How's things with the photo business?

That's Jordan. He's skilled, but i would say not in the league of his bro Raph, who consequently competed in the KB4 against Cope and John.

Who would you like to see out of Cope, Elson, Collard, Eugene, J. Allen to fill in the 8 man?

Personally i want Collard and either Eugene or Cope, but Elson would do again.

Koshy
12-11-2002, 11:14 AM
I'd like to see Elson and that nugget that KKO Zammit on the recent Tarik card. Perhaps he would be to heavy but he looks like a real machine. Extremly strong kicker especially above the waist where many guys lose alot of power.

Glass Jaw
12-11-2002, 11:20 AM
I'd like to see Zammit vs Raph Tai rematch on the undercard

Glass Jaw

How do you think Warren would do against Collard Koshy?

sooty
12-11-2002, 01:21 PM
Cheera Paul,
Yep, the Green shorts, its Jordan. I thought so. He is a tough young fighter all right, with plenty of ticker. And i would also agree that he is not really up their with the hardened likes of Parr, Chopper, Behic, Cope etc, but really neither is Greg Foley, as he is one of the top amatures as well but i am sure with continued efforts he & Jordan will be a force in due time.

Cheers

Hi Glass-jaw,
It's not too bad. Some more sport work and less regular work is the goal.

Thanks guys.

I too agree about the level of both Tai brothers. Both aren't too far away from the guys we'd call the sports elite.

Raph really impressed me when he fought John Sooty.
It looked like he had some sting in his punches.
