Sniper, you can go first....LMAO
How do you do it..
Sure, LOT's of crunches, but it is ALWAYS good to hear from fighters what their training regime is...
I (and Johnny) certainly have an interest....

Thanks for the inclusion zdk...
My mates are body builders, they i have a key interest in weight training..how does a person with a heavy training load keep so much muscle on and so little fat?

Far from me to even pretend to be an expert, but perhaps it's "natural" training the fighters do !!!!
Sheer hard work...BODY conditioning, not substance <img src=icon_smile_shock.gif border=0 align=middle> <img src=icon_smile_dissapprove.gif border=0 align=middle> <img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle> assistance..

By training a lot and eating right. No other way really. But I don't think fighters stay as ripped as they are in contest all year round. The enregy levels are just too low then and it's much harder for body to recover from training. But you can still stay pretty close to that ripped state, which is still a lot more cut then the average person.

It depends on a few things really
Hard training
Good diet
Good metabolic rate
Good genes
Stenazol (oop's i mean Vitamins Lol)
Laxatives
To stay ripped all the time is unhealthy and dangerous, as dehydration can often follow during strenous exercise wich could lead to death, so be carefull guys nobody likes death its a one way trip, some guys always look good for fights, bastards! but its not all about looking good, remember Beeny the Jet, he used to look like a pasty slob, but he sure could fight, he also had a great chin

what u say dekker is quite true about staying ripped for a long time. i give myself a week or two after fights to eat and drink whatever i like. down time i call it.
i use a thermogenic which raises the temp and thus the metabolism of your body which allows you to burn calories faster.
i wipe out carbs late in the afternoon and eat regular meals and loads of water. the analogy that your body is like a fire, it will burn lots of regular kindling better than big stumps just thrown in. in other words, regular small meals is better than 3 big courses.
there is no substitute for hard work so you cant cheat yourself and think there are short cuts.

you must have heard of hydroxycut, optidrene, dymetadrine etc. they raise the metabolism by causing a raise in temperature (thermo). some people might not like them but they work for me personally with a good diet and hard training.

nothing like a nice temperature raising enema, hey Snipe?
Seriously, at 80kgs who would give you the greatest difficultly fighting? (JH I s'pose?)
Alternatively at 70/72kgs, assuming you could get there, do you reckon you'd go it with JWP, Preacher or Choppa under K1 rules, or would you be a bit weak at such weight?

i respect those fighters like you would not believe, like i do with everyone that steps into the ring but that is going to be my goal for the end of this year. i want to see how low i can go with the hope of making that weight (max). i want to fight in europe and japan so if thats what i need to do to get there then so be it. i guess only time will tell though right.

Chris,
Perhaps you'd better steer clear of the VOICE.....focus on the training...no more lunches..<img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

If anyone is intersted about the ThermoGenic stuff sniper was talking about, I sell them.
COmes in a 100ml bottle and labelled as ThermoFluid.
Around 50 bucks a bottle, depending on how much dosage, should last you around 20 days (5mls a day mixed upon waking up).
ITs also great to double the dose before a workout, god will you feel like a machine!!!
Thanks maaaaaaaaaaaaate!

The reason why i asked why and how you stay so ripped snipper is because when u have a high workload u also burn muscle but u seem to be able to maintain it.
Hydroxicut is the way to go when body builders reach the last phase of their training reigime before the comps.
But what i also wanted to know what weight training do you do? How often?
MadMatt

Yeah that's a good point. How much weight training do you do and what exercises do you recommend when gearing up for a fight?

that is what is so weird because i dont do weights. you see i tried it for a few months a couple of years ago and tried the creatine at the same time. i ballooned up 7kg. because of this i steer clear of serious weights. instead i do loads of circuit training, plyometrics, fartlek training, interval training, cardio training, and sport specific exercises. i think using my own body weight produces adequate enough results. If i were to do weights to cut up tho they would be lower weight-high rep exercises. i cant give away too many of my secrets hehehehe!
Thats an interesting point Sniper..
Most people assume that fighters do weights training but I think that the majority of fighters wont UNLESS they want to bulk up i.e to move up a weight class or 2...
I remember JWP posting something along the lines of he didnt do weights just lots of sit ups push ups and chin ups.. The idea that weight training put on bulk where as most fighters were trying to stay lean..
cheers

i think some people might benefit from the use of weights in kickboxing its just that it doesnt work too well for me.
JA the push ups and sit ups etc you talk of are a fundamental part of the circuits and plyometrics i do. varying the intensity of the exercises such as advancing to clap push ups and v-sit ups is a great way to overload yourself to up the intensity.
maybe weights is the answer for a lot of people but the people i teach are very impressed with their own development this way.

If you are intending to do any weight training I suggest lactic tolerance training, once or twice a week is enough. Mimicing Muay Thai techniques with hand weights, ankle weights etc is also a great way to develop power and speed. The major problem with adding bulk through weight training is the amount of blood that is pumped into these muscles under intense pad, bag or sparring work therefore resulting in the need for more oxygen and thus placing a larger workload on the anerobic and aerobic systems. Sniper regime sounds great and yhou couldnt go wrong with that.

Getting "ripped" for a fight isn't the best thing to do. By ripped, I'm assuming your talking about unatural levels of leanness.
Being lean so that your whole musculature is much more apparent is one thing and being ripped is another. Getting down to those insanely low levels is usually associated with alot of water loss too. As a fighter you can't afford that.
Studies have shown that a 2% drop in water levels results in 10% drop in performance.
Many fighters are lean and with all that sweat glistening off them added with lights and camera angles, they may appear "ripped" but really are just lean.
Getting leaner is put simply, a function of balancing your calories ingested vs calories burnt and timing your calorie input to utilise that furnace that sniper was talking about.
Certain foods will create a higher thermogenic response whilst others will slow it down.
The most important drug you can EVER put in your body is food. Knowing the real value and role of food is the key to real health, not just "im ripped for this fight, but fat in the offseason" type of health.

Carnage, Ray and myself started using Musashi products a few months ago. We all use "the Whey" protein, developed by Jon davies, the Queensland rep for Musashi. Also we use L-carnitine before the workout. Im pretty sure thats all carnage is using, aswell as the electrolyte replacement drink (comes in powder form) while working out. He's dropped around 2-3 kilos and looks more ripped than ever. He does weights alot too, I think he's the strongest and fittest he has ever been.
Ray and myself have cut fat too. I'm the only one also taking Huan fat metaboliser, my natural weight is around 72, since i starting running seriously again three weeks ago(because of a knee operation i couldnt do this for a while) ive dropped from 77 to 74. Im fighting in five weeks at 70. But i couldnt do this without watching my food closely and hard training. Im on track to reach 70 in time, and hopefully wont have to cut. Carnage and ray dont watch their foods, they eat bucket loads, but always good stuff, no junk.

Guys I'm trying to lose 9 kilo by May 22nd. Am I being realistic? Besides training my ass off and really watching my diet is there anything else I can do to ensure that I make it?
