Hey guys,

I haven't heard any substantial news about Ian Jacobs for ages.

From the snipets of information I've read on Kickboxing message boards and IK, I'd presumed that Ian was going to be giving boxing a shot. Though, that was a long time ago, possibly 12 months or so.

Do any of you guys know what Ian's fight plans are.

I remember reading something about Ian only wanting to fight if the money was right, and I pretty much thought that the purse was out of reach for most promoters, and unfortunately didn't think we'd be seeing Ian fighting Kickboxing very often. Now that Tarik is putting this light-heavy KO League event on next year with $100,000 in prize money, does anyone know if it's likely that we may see Ian Jacobs involved?

I think having Jacobs involved would be the icing on the cake of which promises to be an incredibly exciting format for this weight division. We should see some spectacular fights if even half the names Rob mentions are involved.

Guys, KO league is at light-heavy isn't it, and not at Super-middle?
I'm hopeless at weight divisions.

Osun Paul,
Ian would be a great drawcard. But from our point of view
he may find it difficult to get to the required level for a full on super 8 show.. As you know to win one fight in these sort of round robin shows can be an achievment in itself, but to win 3 all on the same night is a major challenge in anyones book.
If John Hallford is selected as one of the Super 8 fighters.. He would be one of the favourites.. if not for the fights he has had of late, and the trips to Thailand for further training / fighting etc. Just like to boys in OZ who train / fight Thai rules.

John would like to just be a part of the fighting line up.. Its really up to me to blow his trumpet... So i am!

Cheers
Mark

Sounds like a great line up, would be a great show to whatch, as for Vermes, he was in the paper about a year ago, he was busted for drugs or the people he was living with were, he was still charged with trafficing though.

G'day Mark,

Perhaps I'm mistaken, I thought that the KO league that was written about on Tarik's website was to be spread out over the year, and not like a Super 8 where they all fight on the same night.

I'm sure you know more than me, is it to be a single night event?

The proposed KO league was meant to be over a year and were single fights k-1 rules. 16 fighters squaring off in 8 fights in the first phase. The winners of the 5 X 3 round fights went through to the 2nd phase with the losers automatically knocked out. The 8 winners would square off on 4 fights on events later on in the year and so on, until at the end of the year there were two undefeated fighters to square off for the $100,000 final. That was proposed for 2002, don't know if it has changed though.
