I believe that IK is a high quality magazine and the team behind must be congragulated for their hard work in putting together each issue. However, one thing I have noticed continually, that i must say irritates me is the technique section. I don't see the need for one. Why would any person use a magazine to learn how to throw combinations etc. People go to instructors to learn their various arts. So what use is a technique section. Jeremy Ta'Kody your magazine is not the only one guilty of this crime, however one peculiar thing that I've noticed is that it only occurs in Martial art Magazines, and it really should stop as it dtracts from the value of your otherwise fantastic publication. A reply and opinions would be appreciated. Benny

I hope I don't get jumped on here.
I think the technique section is cool for Martial Arts mags that are made or specifically designed with the view that mostly fighters or guys and girls training will be reading it.
I dunno, I kind of put Kickboxing in another catagory. It sort of feels more a 'Pro Sport' to me than what other more traditional Martial Arts do, so I'd like to see it more aimed at the enthusiastic fan with more fighter profiles and articles. And as Spy crack suggested less technique stuff. Michael Schiavello's article on Hunt I thought was excellent, I'd like to see lots more of those, with a little bit more non fight specific info (you know, just stuff that gives us a better idea of the persona of a fighter). I think this sort of stuff is much more digestable for those of us that don't train but just love to watch the sport and are interested in its wide variety of characters. Last of all, I desperately want to see this publication as full colour one day, and understandably that will only happen with higher numbers being published each month. Lets hope it happens.

Thanks Paul for the kind comment re Mark Hunt story... I like you have always enjoyed those character-profiles rather than out and out fight profiles.
As former editor of IK and Blitz and all the stable of Blitz Pubs, I'd have to say that the techniques remain a VERY POPULAR and highly sought after area of the mag. I agree that they should not be overdone... I personally don't read them cos I dont fight nor train to, but it is of high interest to those who do... you cant make all of the people happy all of the time... gotta have a good mix of techs, news, interviews, profiles, puff pieces, pics, hoopla, etc.
But hey... keep letting IK know what you do and dont want... that is what this forum is for
:-)
What I want... Hmmmm
The old thick glossy posters that use to come out in Blitz were good, on the odd occasion that they were featuring a kickboxer. My favourite was the 95 K1 Grand Prix poster. Actually a full coloured, glossy IK mag would be great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The old pictures you had not long ago. I think you called the section Hits and Memories. I cant believe you never snapped a pic of Bob Jones (and the rest of his cornermen) in his Happy Pants at the Crowning. lol
I think its good to compare how other gyms are trainning. But I have to say that the padwork is usually the same jab, cross, hook, round kick combo's and so on. I like the article in the latest IK about different fighters preperation.
The whole thing is really good, but have you noticed the difference in the styles of reporting Kickboxing news to Boxing news. Even when a world rate boxer is winning, they still bag him out. The only time I have ever known IK to have a go at a fighter was when Anthony Lapia stood up Sam Soliman at the Rumble at the Radison.
