He has beaten Steve Douet in Sydney since the Zambidis fight. I see him around every couple of weeks doing security work and should ask him what he's up to.

I spoke to Baris several months ago and asked him what his plans were. He told me that Steve Duett's camp were wanting a re-match.
I guess because of the controversial on-the-bell knock out.
He didn't say whether he was going to take the fight.
I really hope that Baris gets a re-match with Mike. Though, I hope he doesn't fight him after a year out of the ring.
Baris has to be in the top 3 of his weight division. The displays of skill and power that Mike has been showing us has been absolutely phenominal. Man, to go 12 rounds with that fighter is something special. Baris definitely deserves another crack at him.
Baris does deserve a rematch. When Zambidis was un unknown Baris gave him the opportunity that many don't get and Zambidis capitalised. He made his name in Australia with that fight. But I heard that Zambidis has rejected an offer for a rematch.
Even though I am a Zam fan, I take my hat off to Baris for his performance against Zam.. He is a great fighter but I think he doesn't like knees, so his bouts are limited to kickboxing only

Honestly guys,
what did you think when you saw Mike walk into the ring?
I have to tell you truthfully that I thought it would be over inside of the second, Baris's way for sure.
What a bloody shock most of us got.
It was totally incredible, Iron Mike walked out with everyone in the stadium being a fan. Man didn't he deserve it though. It's not often we see fights like that one.

Baris fought Ben Steele as well, about 2 months or so ago. He won.

I've only seen him fight this one time, but he looked pretty good. I don't have a clue to his past record though. Can someone fill us in if you know please.
Hey, Baris has turned into a real Sydney fighter hehe. He allways has a spectacular finish that's for sure. Good on you for promoting his fights Lucy.

Hey guys whats happening? It would be good to see a Zambam vs Baris rematch. However since their first match two years ago alot of things changed. Baris couldnt recover from the shock and since then Zambam has destroyed almost everyone in his path. He has come a long way since then and i do not think Baris would stand a chance against mike. Jenk prepared for almost 4 months for zambidis and look what happened.Even though jenk is a great fighter and gave zambam a good fight, he could not reach the level that needs to be reached in order to even come close to beating iron mike. So Baris should not think like "oh well, it took mike 12 rounds to beat me, and only 6 to KO jenk, so that means that i can beat mike". Their first fight was also mike's first international fight in a not so friendly atmosphere but he managed to win everyone over. He has matured as a fighter and Baris cannot, i repeat cannot in any way beat Zambidis. But hey thats my opinion and u guys are more than welcome to disagree.

Thaiboxer i wouldn't really argue with that; although i wouldn't go as far to say Baris "can't" win, i tend to think he won't.
Were you referring to Baris thinking he can take Jenk because he lasted longer against Zam?
Thanks mate

Baris & Zambidis will be rematching on the K1 Oceania in February so will be interesting to see how that fight goes..
I am sure Baris will be a different fighter from his last fight with him all the best to them both should be a good fight...

It should make for a mega-show.

glass jaw thats what i was exactly saying. Baris shouldnt think that because he lasted more than jenk, he can beat zambam. Its been two years and mike has matured as a fighter whereas baris has been struggling.
i've only seen him fight duette since then and he knocked him out. which fights has he struggled with?

ThaiBoxer,
I have to disagree, is sounds like you are saying that Jenk is a stronger fight than Baris and if that is the case you are sadly mistaken. Baris is a stronger, faster and fitter than Jenk will ever be. As for beating Iron Mike, I think we will just have to wait for the February Show.

axekick its my turn to disagree. If anyone had a chance of beating zambidis, it was Behic. That doesnt mean though that Baris doesnt have a chance. After all, on the day anything can happen. Baris has fought zambidis and roughly he knows what to expect. However i would bet my money on Zambidis cause when he's in the ring he looks flawless. Beginning of october he's goin to holland for the thai world title and after that he's comin to melb. I would bet on Zambidis against Baris, its common sense and zam has proved it
by the way, does anyone know what fights are comin up for gurkan?

ThaiBoxer, you surely get off on Zambidis!!?? lol Realistically, Baris is the only person who would get close. All of the opponents Jenk went up against, Baris did it better. So how can you say Behic is better? Against Zambidis, Baris got "stopped" in the 12th round! Jenk got KNOCKED OUT in half that. And Jenk looked real bad. Broken nose, was obviously scared and hit by several leg kicks to the head! Baris went really well man. You cant disagree to that!

Guys, not making any excuses here,
but, just consider that the fight almost went the distance.
Michael would certainly have one it off course regardless.
If Baris comes into the next fight better prepared for such a massive hitter, I'm quite certain that the fight will go the distance.
Baris was clearly frustrated in the first fight from very early on. All I know about the fight game is from what I pick up from you guys, and I'm sure I've come across the oppinion many times that fighters make severe mistakes once they do become that way (fight plan goes out the window....It seems that they find it harder to follow instructions from their corners etc). So, I think that Baris will not make the same mistake this time round and I expect we'll see a much more mentally prepared Baris doing his thing.
We who have seen the brutal power of Nezif's head kicks know that he can drop anyone. The same can happen from his hands (man, did you guys see the shot that dropped Bruce Mcphie in Melbourne? Bloody hell, from ringside it just sounded like a big piece of wood smashing against bone).
Hey, I hope Mike Zambidis fans don't think that I'm anti Mike. How can anyone not like Mike. I think he's great.
I keep sticking up and supporting Baris in this and other Baris threads because I absolutely know that he can do much better.
But I do love watching Mike, and agree with the oppinions that the majority of people within this industry have of him being the best kickboxer on the planet. It doesn't mean though, that our local boys whom sit near the top of this ladder don't have a chane in succeeding his throne.

janer stop being a kid, or are u? im just voicing my opinion and im being realistic when i say that mike would beat baris. Early rounds or not, i cant see baris knockin zam out. the only reason baris went the distance is because Mike was not at his best and from what i read and saw before that fight, baris was sayin that he was the future of kick boxin and you could feel his arrogance from a mile away. Mike did not know what to expect, he was in a foreign country and had almsot everyone against him and he still beat baris!! Now two years later, my opinion is that zam is a better fighter since then, and certainly a better fighter than baris
Zam was fighting in new territory, but he knew more about Baris then Baris knew about him. Stan had a lot of access to Baris's fights.

ThaiBoxer, I only saw Baris against Zambidis. Who is everyone else?? As for Zambidis a better fighter, do you think Baris has gone backwards? I agree Zam looks better every fight, but you cant say Baris cant improve.

Well boys, this is my view -
When Mike fought Baris first up, Baris was at his peak, both physically and mentally, I hear they were so confident of pulling apart Mike that the promoters had already started getting the next boughts posters ready - which at the time would have meant Baris would fight grandpa Ellis -
Baris would definetly have seen and researched some of Mikes fights, if he didn't then he is an bloody arrogant idiot who got what he deserved.
If you study the fight carefully, you would see that Mike actually put down Baris a number of times, the first in the 3rd round, the second a couple of rounds later and then the demolition in the 12th.
Also, Mike was NOT GOING FLAT OUT!!! He was pulling back, picking his shots - if he went 100% hard from the beginning he would have destroyed Baris within 5 rounds - NO Question!!

The Greek... if gurkan is sick of replyin to my "dumb" sms's, i dont think he'd have any problems tellin me, what do u think?
Why "The greek" and not JAMES VASS re?
Zam vs Gurkan? That would be mad re... but you know very well that i'd keep the answer to myself cause both Mike and Gurkan are my friends. Me and u james have discussed this fight and we both know so dont ask. Both are champs at their weight division...how do u know i'd say Zambidis would win? who do YOU think would win? before u answer remember that zam is coming in november...lol
speakin of zam, he had no idea about fightin baris re, but has no problem fightin him either!
cant wait to get back, dromana time!!!
Careful with the bike malaka!!!
