Mundine wise before event

ANTHONY MUNDINE chose his words wisely, knowing his next fight could be his last.

Mundine steps back into the ring in Sydney tonight in a rematch against journeyman New Zealander Sean Sullivan after a four-month lay-off aware his career is at the crossroads.

Losing the World Boxing Association belt to Manny Siaca in May left the former rugby league player with a bruised ego.

"I'm pumped. I feel good, both mentally and physically," Mundine said yesterday, after weighing-in right on the 77kg super-middleweight limit for tonight's comeback in Liverpool.

"I've never trained harder or prepared better for a fight and feel I'm ready to dominate."

Sullivan is a durable and tough opponent with 67 professional fights.

He has gone the distance with the likes of Danny Green, Shannan Taylor and Nader Hamdan.

Mundine went 12 rounds against Sullivan in New Zealand in February last year.

"From what I remember of him, he's a deceptively strong fighter who has never been stopped in a decade," Mundine said.

"I know he's going to be fit and won't be an easy target.

"He gave Green a good fight when they met.

"I last fought him two years ago when we went the distance and I believe I've improved my ring craft since then."

Mundine's preparation has included working out under the watchful eye of Roy Jones, the father and trainer of Roy Jones Jr.
