I'm sure some other member can write a much better report. I'll post some of my 'just for fun' shots tomorrow guys. Sydney photographer Ian Sly officially covered the event, and I'll look forward to seeing them in the next issue.

Some of the results from an a great fight night were:

Peter Graham defeated Chris Chrisopoulidis. Chris put up a great fight, and showed heaps of heart. I like Chris, he seems like a really nice bloke, and I wish him much success in the future.

Jason Suttie defeated Paul Robinson and went on to face the 'Chief' Peter Graham.

Jason ended up winning the fight by points dec and took home the $5000 prize money.

Mike Cope, who is fast becoming one of my favorite fighters to watch, faced Raphael Tai. The fight was declared a draw, and we didn't know whom of these guys was going to be fighting in the next stage. The judges had to meet with the boxing authority, whose rules didn't allow for a further round of fighting.
They later decided that Raphael Tai would go on. Very close fight, perhaps because I'm more a Melbourne person these days, but I thought Mike had just done enough to win, what was truelly pretty close.

Raphael then went on to face John Hallford whom defeated Steve Delister in the first bout. Hallford and Tai put on a brilliant fight, and Hallford was crowned KB4 champ and took home the money.

Greg Foley was defeated by Ashley White, KO win. White nailed Foley right on the bell. A brilliant KO.

There were also lots of Australia's great champions there to support other fighters, and Also Lucy's first KB4 event, Mark Hunt, Adam Watt, Kali Meehan, Gurkan Ozkan and Prince Amir. Man, I love this sport. World champion fighters are so accessable to us, which is really cool compared to Boxing.

Anyway, pics are courtesy of Blitz Publication.

Thank's Halfcast.

Blitz have allways paid standard magazine rates for a publication of it's size, (as do other small mags that cover smaller sports, surfing, motor cycle sports, sking etc).
Some of the Melbourne promoters know how far I travel and allways look after me, my thank's to Paul Demicoli and Michael Vukovic. They were allways a pleasure to shoot for.

I'd be *****ing if I was covering footy or cricket, but what the hell, I'm shooting something way more interesting that hopefully one day will be as huge a sport here as it is in Japan. Then I'll be able to give up shooting the ****ty jobs (Civic Architecture, and weddings...pewk).

Just in case any of you silly buggers are contemplating marriage,

Paul.........totaly AWESOME shots mate!
I have just gotta make the move to digital!
I did manage to get the clean kick Paul put on Chris to the head and a nice one of Ashley landing a right to Greg's head.
The shot of Suttie punching Graham and the sweat coming off is great. I remember seeing the sweat fly and cursed that I had missed it. The sweat was backlite from my possy but mate, you've caught it!
I'll have a go at posting these two shots and see how I go.

Any ideas when fox is going to show the fight?
cheers Paul

Thank's Ian,

"I have just gotta make the move to digital!"

Do it Ian, I promise the camera will pay for itself in no time. Not to mention saving you hours and hours of scanning. I've even started shooting my weddings digitally. Most couples can't see the quality difference at all up to about 16X12. You should be able to double that with the new Canon D60.
Digital 6x4 proper C41 prints are down to about 75 cents each now, so proofing a wedding costs less than $150. And, the best thing about it is no wasted prints that you wouldnt have wanted anyway.

I'm actually trading in my 12 month old F5 and Mamiya gear on a D100 this week (about double the resolution as I have now with this camera, which should do double page colour mag spreads without any hassles). I don't have anything at all anymore that needs be shot on film. With a bit of tweaking images can look as good as the best of slide films scanned.
