Guys do u think the Kickboxing Industry will ever boom? i mean i see so many guys put all the hours lose weight train hard and all they get is a trophy? its great to watch but sometimes i really feel for the fighters. Even well known fighters get paid sometimes bout 400 to 1000 bucks I guess its something u do for self satisfaction. Im a fighter and im getting sick of training my arse off getting banged up knowing all im gonna get is a trophy. I Love the sport but i just wish sometimes they would start paying more $$$ for god sake its 1 of da most toughest hardworking sports around. I just wish their was more money involved

I can definetly sympathise with you halfcast, but you should try promoting and tell me what you think..
You really have to have the right skills to be able to promote,I just wish I could get sponsors to pay fighters what they are worth
if you help promoters in the sense of promoting yourself to your friends and find yourself a sponsor I am sure all the pain will be worth it in the end..
I remember when I was going to fight in Europe I had nothing but I went into a Sports shop and asked for runners and a training bag if they would sponsor me for I was going to fight in Holland.
The owner gave me the equipment and I felt like I was given a million dollars.....
The sport needs more Corporate Sponsors to help fighters like yourself but the main thing is to go and try and get it for your self
and you would be surprised at the support you get....
Promoters can do so much we all need to work together for this sport to be successful....
Hope the next fight you have it will be worth your while...
hang in there I am sure your time will come..

Good topic halfcast. Well if we want kickboxing to pay more, like the boxer do in my opinion we have to get rid of some of the sanctioning bodies. You know these days in kickboxing every one is a "world champion". You know what i mean. Most off these "world champion" win there titles fighting local boys. So in my opinion that is why the media ain't taking kickboxing serious and i reckon fans just want to see a good hard fight.

whats going on boys?? hey da ghost! hey halfacst!
The point I have to make is why I think kickboxing is a struggling sport to make it to the top. Ask yourself, why isnt kickboxing shown live?? Is it becuase it will stop people going to the fights? I dont think thats correct, but what is correct is that kickboxing is so unpredictable that the broadcasting companies are afraid that the show will get out of hand... Kickboxing isnt a pretty sport like golf or motor cycle racing, its in your face. punch for punch and blood and guts. I dont see how TELSTRA etc would get behind a sport like kickboxing.
However, Boxing is now a prestigious sport and has the HUGE companies broadcasting it, like HBO etc. It will take forever and a day to get kickboxing up there with boxing. Have any of you guys seen the OZKAN V VERMES fight???? point proven! haha The fight at the end was a verbal brawl, tarik kicked everyone in the ring out and asked everyone to leave! How could you put your companies name on the line if anything wrong could happen? and usually it will go wrong!
Untill Kickboxing is REGULARILY alot more controlled and well run, sponsors will get confident representing kickboxing. Hence, alot more money will be put in for the fighters.
what do u reckon?

I couldnt give two ****s about the money to be honest i would sooner go broke putting work aside for training. theres always time for money later , follow that dream while you can and you will be rewarded.

Not that I know, but I'm just having a rant here guys
I truly believe that the way forward is cooperation amongst promoters.
Demicoli and Scida have been working together very successfully for years. And now we see Demicoli, Bannan and Nugget working together. I think this is a good thing. The QLD shows seem to be full of Star fighters and now with this latest one several Thai champs. And earlier Melbourne got to see Scott fighting on an Ultimate show.
I honestly believe these sorts of collaborations are the way to do things and give spectators better value for money. Because $40 or $50 is a lot of money to many hard working people on award wages. We need them to go home feeling that the show was unbelievably good. I think this will slowly but surely bring in more paying spectators and in turn this is what's needed for now to bring up the amount of fight purses. It does seem difficult to get sponsors involved, especially the larger businesses
My congrats to those above mentioned promoters and I wish them every success. Every time I see one of their posters I'm jealous that I don't live in QLD.

Wether its on the Balltlefield or fighting/promoting
strength in numbers, plus the wisdom & ability to network with each other, in a common cause of any financial venture, should be considered! At the end of the day.. Kickboxings future will rely on the skills & marketing strategies of people in the sport.
Now days just having a poster plastered somewhere just does "not" cut it. Those days are long gone.. Image will always play an important part in the marketing or promoting of ones products or services.
cheers
