I watched a tag team fight last night in Brisbane, and ive got to say, it was awesome the crowd loved it, the place was going mental.
I watched one on the sunshine coast recently but couldnt get my head around the rules, but last nights fight has changed my opinion and im now a fan.

I think the Murph, Jimmy Shannon and others used to do the tag team thing in 90's, i think theres a good possibility it could take off at least here in qld

Any of the older members around to watch back then?

Totally agree, was expecting it to be annoying, but the buzz was awesome. The boys got really riled up and the tactic of stopping the tired fighter from reaching his corner to tag out, (including a crash tackle worthy of Gorden Tallis) was pretty entertaining.

I know the traditionalists won't like it, but they should have one at each large event just to mix things up a bit :)

Some great match ups in the undercard, some of the closest fights I've seen in a long time, lots of guts.

$3.10 for a schooner was appreciated too. :) I have to lose some major weight, the guys who were 82 kg, my current weight, looked about twice my size. So probably stopping buying schooners might be a start :p

PS. oh and what about 'Brian' (dunno his surname) who gave away TEN kilos and about 6 inches of reach ? The other guy kept grinning which my side of the ring found pretty incensing (you can do it when you're JWP or someone, but grinning at every hit in every round was pretty disrespectful). All it did was make about 300 people who had never heard of Brian start cheering for him :) Plus the guy's smile wasn't as pretty with the blood from his nose on it :p It was all ok in the end and both fighters respectful, but Brian was the people's champion and only lost by points decision. TOP effort.

PPS Anyone know who's the old guy who's ISKA certified (looks a bit like the Ironfist bloke but without the side levers) who's always going off at people? He was yelling at the MC about something last night, and when I saw him last at Arana Hills he was tearing a video operator a new a-hole. Must be stressed.

Yeah there were some cracker fights, and good to see the card not over crowded 9 fights or so. Yeah i thought the guy who gave ten kgs away did really well and might have just done enough to get a draw, nevermind!
Yeah i loved the rivalry between Gilby and that guy it was fun to watch

heh yeah Gilby was quite the showman :) Another one who had his name being chanted by hundreds who'd never heard of him (plus his obvious band of supporters). :D

yeah i reckon if that fight was shown on fox instead of a few ordinary matches we have watched tag team fighting would really take off twice as fast with the tags during the rounds. the boys friday just kept going harder

team Gilby mate - poor old Ash should have got more of a mention, he put in a guts effort too. They all did ... and other guys were good sports in defeat considering the aggression :)

Oh yeah, there was a fair Gilby chant going mate, it was hard to catch anyone else's name. The blokes at gym tonight were only just saying how full on the tag team was for constant aggression. Reckon it's a winner if someone can get their head around organising and reffing 'em :)

That fight with 10kg difference was meant to be a exhibition fight.
The bigger guy took that fight 5 days before the fight.
I'm guessing the announcer should have said it was an exhibition before the fight had started.
Oh and if you didn't notice the decision went against Brian but the other guy gave him the winning trophy as I'm guessing he thought he deserved it more than him.

There were some great fights there that night and some bloody close ones at that.
I also saw the tag team up the coast and didn't think much of it. But this one was a great crowd pleaser. With the right marketing it might take off.

I missed that bit, but good on 'im. No biggie, I just reckon constant grinning at your opponent is a bit off. But whatever works for him I suppose :) Didn't look like an exhibition fight, but strange match up with 10 kg difference ? Always good to hear blokes take fights with buggar all notice, shows a lot of ticker.

I think the promoter was desperate to get Brian in the ring ( first fight I think).
I've seen worse match ups over the years either big weights or way out experienced.
It comes down to getting out there and having a go I suppose and gaining experience how ever you can get it.
