100 pages! nice! Happy 10th anniversary IK, thanks for all the hard Michael Schiavello and the team at Blitz Publications, it's really, really appreciated. Zam's olympic aspirations??? hmm. There's no kickboxing in olympic competition, and even if there was, Mike's a professional. Maybe he wants to carry the torch during the relay. AAARGH! can't wait to read the interview. Hey Michael, if Ray Sefo's Apollo Creed, would that make Mark Hunt Rocky Balboa? I'd say so, after his 2001 win. Aaaaand...... would that make Auckland Aumatagi and his brand new haircut Clubber Lang???? ok, I'll give that one a rest already :P

Looking forward to the Zam interview.
It was actually pretty weird just post fight, World K-1 Max.
I mean so many of us were taking a stand on whether Zam was ripped off or not, based purely on other people's opinions. So few of us have actually seen this fight, so I'm hoping that Zam talks on the subject of the knockdown and judging in the Masato fight in this coming interview. Also his thoughts on Ozkan should make good reading,

Sounds good Mike, on a similar note Jerome Le Banner would have to be K-1's Ivan Drago. About time IK had an interview/article on Ray Sefo, the guy is a legend and deserves more recognition, hopefully he fights down here soon.
Keep up the good work.

Luke B, it is not actually an interview with John Hallford, I was asked by Michael Shivellio to do a brief writeup (400 words or less) on how John has intergrated the various fighting arts into his style ie: Kyokushin Karate, Kickboxing, Boxing & Muay Thai.
I actually could have written 2,000 words easy about him, but the mag space is limited and even though the write-up is reasonably brief it just outlays some of the skills that John had to work on and the syles he has fought.
I would like to thank Michael Shivellio for thinking of John, as sometimes up here in Tamworth we get that "out of sight out of mind" sorta feeling. But hey thats life.
At the moment we are in the middle of trying to get John on the Zam vs Ozkan undercard. Anyone fighting at 76-78kgs who wants a crack at him here is your chance.
cheers

Mark,
I know he's a tad lighter, but what do you reckon about a Behic Vs Hallford fight?
I keep picturing it being a beautiful fight to watch. Both being pretty technical fighters and all.
I believe Jenk is coming back from Turkey pretty soon and John Scida mentioned that he'd like to have Jenk on his October show.
I think it would be awesome if you guys could get it to happen on the Zam V Ozkan under-card.. I thought it mightn't be too tough a weight bridge as we've seen John fight Cope, who's got to be around Jenk's weight.

Paul,
Thats a hard one because of the weight difference. John has not had any confirmation from Tarik with regards to the Zam vs Ozkan show. So i know for a fact that if John was matched with Jenk he would do his utmost to come to an agreement on weight , rounds etc.
Both of these guys can box, both are very skilled kickers, both love to trade on the inside and have ample experience as well, plus the fact that "both" come to fight and give 100% everytime would make for a good fight.
Jenk vs Hallford... yeahh i'd like to see that!

Happy Birthday. John Hallford article should be good.
Jenk vs Hallford would be a good match up. Id say a draw or split decision in jenk,s favour but their will be nothing in it!

No way, Hallford would eat Jenk, John has much higher level of skill.

Skill,
I reckon Jenk is super skilled.
Hallford looks great in the ring, but I've personally never seen any of John's fights where he is in a total war. I'm not making any suggestions here at all, I'm sure it's just my bad luck to have only had the opportunity to see those fights of Johns which were televised on Fox. Where as I have seen quite a few of Jenks non televised fights. I don't want to make any comparisons, because I've never seen Hallford under severe pressure, and perhaps that is due to his skill, he always looks pretty relaxed in the ring and pretty much in control.
Jenk's a tough guy, and he is well capable of outscoring just about anyone on a good day.
Behic is so tough that he could make up for any skill difference with his tenacity and guts whick keep him always moving forward and banging and kicking away,
Consider what Zambidis did to most others he fought and where he didn't land half as much on. Many were left on the canvas facing the ceiling. So personally I think Jenk could handle John well enough. To further consider Behic's performance against Steve Duett, Mike Cope, and then against Wayne Parr, and i think we have to give Jenk credit as being a very tough fight for John Hallford. I think it would be far far from some sort of easy meal for John Quickdraw.
You have to see Behic Vs Dawson I think to appreciate Jenk's true ability. If he fought John in a similiar way, I think the judges would have helll trying to decide a winner. It was full on 'Kick For Kick' and 'Punch For Punch'. The fight honestly left me asking how in the hell can someone keep that sort of pace up for so many rounds. Truly spectacular, and I picture something similar from Behic Vs Hallford if by some chance we're lucky enough to one day see it happen.

Paul C... This is very much how we also see the fight. Jenk has been my favourite welter / supetwelterweight fighter in OZ ever since Marcus "MadDog" Mangun retired a couple of years ago. He is full on mr entertainment thats for sure.
John is very experienced and he has shown on many occasions that he also has the ability to slow down the pace of the fight which may seem to some that their is not much pressure on him... But rest assured that with every fight their is pressure.. some more than others but ultimatly a battle will take place.
Jenk is a superb technical fighter with a HUGE heart and fighting spirit, he has good all round skills and is a pushover for no one.
John is currently training hard in case an offer is put to him regarding Jenk or anyone else.. But we also know that John has to be on top of his game to make a great fight with Jenk.
Lets face it you don't have a fight name like "the great white shark" for nothing!
cheers
