I have forgoten what weight the fight between these two was agreed on?
I am assuming that it would be in the mid 70kgs.. If so gurkan must be reasonably heavy at the moment if he is scheduled in to fight Paul Smallman.
Is this Gurkans last expected fight at what ever weight him & paul are fighting at?
I actually thought that Gurkan had already started his training for the fight with Zam?
Hmmmm, questions, questions, questions???
Thanx in advance!
later..its 1;51am. time too crash.

The last time I got news (7 weeks ago), I was told that Gurkan had to be in at 76kg and Zam at 70kg by the time of the weigh-in.
Michael can you update us?

Guys,
I don't know if you remember when it was first announced, I thought Tarik said something like that Mike wants to fight Gurkan, and that he wasn't worried about Ozkan's weight.
I asked Gurkan about this, and he said that he honestly wasn't aware of that. He said that he presumed that he had to fight Mike at 75kg, and that no one had made mention at all otherwise.
Note, this was a long time ago, so perhaps he was told after we spoke. He also told me that it was his intention to fight Mike at just that weight.......75kg. He also said something in the gist of 'that Mike took Stan's loss harder than Stan did. And that Mikes challenge seemed personal. He went on to say that he liked Mike and really enjoyed watching his fights, but because Mike seemed to take the Stan fight very personally, and that Mike's challenge took Gurkan by surprise. So then further he said that now he himself is taking Mikes challenge personally, and that he is going to step in the ring with the intention of knocking him out bad.
I don't know how much of this is just a great story. You know, Stan and Gurkan, 'No Respect' and all, but I'm certain that Ozkan's intention and his feeling on this fight are pretty genuine.
Sooty, Ozkan called me a couple of days ago to tell me he'd arranged for a photographers seat for me. I'm very grateful, as you guys wouldn't believe what a hassle it was trying get in to shoot Kostya's Melbourne fight. The international picture agencies were very interested and press credentials from larger publications were essential just to be considered, plus I believe there were also a couple of Texan newspaper photographers there to shoot and transmit pictures to Jesse James home town papers. So for those of you interested in the fight, I'll have lots of photos Ozkan's fight and hopefully the main event Mundine vs Eccols. So tune in to Blitz forum a couple of hours after the event.
I wish them both the best of luck. Mundine is an Aussie, so I'm hopping he gets our nation another world title belt. Winning such titles I think does great things for a small countries moral, so fingers crossed for Mundine
