Just read that bob sapp will be fighting Kimo leopaldo in the USA k-1. For people who dont follow UFC KImo is a hawaiian who was raised in belgium (I think) and then moved to Huntington Beach usa. He is covered head to toe in tatts and is probably one of the scariest guys ive ever seen. That said Bobb Sapp will smash him as Kimo has ****house standup skills.

All the fights I have seen of Kimo he tries to take EVERYONE to the ground. Pretty boring fighter to watch as he doesnt like to strike whilst standing. But should be great!!!

Though he does look like one MSOB!!

It's quite obvious that this is a fight designed to a) give Bob a much needed win b) sell pay-per-view figures.

Kimo has had only one K-1 fight and that was in 1995 when he was KO'd in two rounds by Satake.

Go Bob!

Yeah and Satake is a punching bag these days. In Pride they call him the Japanese tomato can. ps- to clear this up this is not me saying this it is other people. For the record I love Satake he is a great warrior and one of the best fighters around. He could easily beat me up and I in no way am degrading him or his fighting style. I wish he was australian and I would cheer for him loud and clear. (sorry I couldn't resist)

Satake was never the same after Sam Greco rearranged his brain.

Hey, perhaps it's the dash ( - ) in the url.

I thought dashes aren't supposed to be used, kinda figured that was the reason that everyone uses underscore

Wasn't Kimo was meant to fight Stan once upon a time, circa '95, after Stan suffered a couple of ko's. This is the guy that used to carry a cross to the ring, right??? didn't he give royce gracie (spelling??) one hell of a fight in UFC 3 though?? I thought he was a taekwondo stylist, I read somewhere he had a flashy arsenal of kicks. I guess he leans more towards the grappling nowadays.

Yes this is true... in UFC 3 Kimo gave Royce Gracie his toughest fight ever... in fact I think it was Royce's toughest win ever... if you want to see another GREAT fight with Royce check him out against Sakuraba in their famour Pride match that lasted more than an hour!

Kimo does have a background in TKD... but I havent seen him throw any flashy kicks in the limited competition I have watched of him... against a rampaging Bob Sapp he better pray for a miracle or Bob will crusheth him.

PS: Kimo aint very tall either... I think Bob will tower over him big time.

Hi All,

According to www.sherdog.com, Kimo Leopoldo stand 6'3 / 190.5 cm and weight 235 lbs / 107 kg

This site also says that Bob Sapp stand's 6'3 / 190.5 cm,and his Style is NFL. I thought Sapp was 7' tall !!

Cheers, Rohan

LOL

I've stood next to Bob and trust me, he is all of 6'8"! That's strange that a quality reference point like Sherdog has it so wrong.

I read an interview where kimo said that in the first UFC they totally bull****ted about his skills and he was pretty much untrained. In his first fight he did bring a huge wooden cross to the ring which looked really heavy. In that fight he had royces back at one stage but didn't know what to do. f Kimo knew ant basic submissions he might have been a strong chance to take royce in that fight. At one stage royce had full mount and Kimo through pure strength threw royce of him. Kimo fought numerous other times in ufc and lost to TK a japanses fighter who trained with Mo Smith, Royce, Ken Shamrock and beat Paul Varlens and recently with improved submissions, beat 'old grey beard' Tank Abbott in about 2 mins. From what I have seen he has really ****ty standup skills and because of the huge amount of muscle he seems to punch with his arms. That said I would not be to keen to fight him, but if I had to it would be in boxing or kickboxing rules because he never fights anyone standup. In recent times he has improved his submissions and takedowns but this wont help him in K-1. He also fought in Pride with a draw to Dan Severen. (spelling) He is going to get destroyed.

I may be wrong but I think that photo is from his fight with Nogueira, his third. Sapp lost via armbar.

Sapp fought two tomato cans in Pride 20 (Norihisa Yamamoto) and 21 (Kiyoshi Tamura).

Anyway, Kimo's best assest are his ground skills, and even there sub-par. So expect a demolition by Sapp, in my opinion.

Yeah good pick Oz i realised that after the post but I didn't think to many people would realise. Here are some shots of Sapp training for the Kimo fight. I think it is called "seido kaikan" karate?

Seido Kai-Kan is basically K-1 style, right??? isn't that what Sam Greco switched to and caused a lot of controversy? It's master Ishi's style, I think. Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong, which I usually am, hehe.

K-1 is not a style.

Seidokaikain is headed by Kancho Ishii... it is very similar to Kyokushinkai Karate - the hardest style of Karate having produced such names as Greco, Hug, Thompson, Pettas and Peter Graham.

Musashi, who you saw yesterday, is a top Seido fighter. Like I said, very similar to Kyokushin.
