Preacher came through and helped me to get to this event, which was held in a Television studio, with a samall crowd but broadcast on Hong Kong Television, I think Live.
Results as follows (All fights 3 rounds, looked like K1 rules with limited grappling, no elbows):
Julie fought a girl who was wearing an israel shirt. It was like pro vs amateur with Julie throwing punches with intent and the other girl throwing some rangey ineffectual punches. Julie landed beautiful overhands, hooks and body shots and dominated the whole fight, but was unfortunate not to get the knockdown or KO. Points win.
Irshad vs Chris kearney. Round 1 was close with Irshad showing his sharp hands and Chris showing a variety of skills, with good leg kicks, punches and some knees. Second great start chris pressuring irshad in the corner with good combinations. It only seemed to stir up irshad who dropped chris and then took him down and out with a body rip. I was told that Chris was suffering from Bronchitis and had been told that he shouldnt fight by the Doctor but persevered. Even though he was sick, Irshad has damn good hands, even on a good day he is a tough opponent.
David vs hong kong fighter. This fight had good action by both parties and was quite even, with david working the opponents lead leg well. In the last round I think it was anyones fight, but David had a slow start this round and the Hong Kong Fighter took it on points.
Preacher vs Tong. Round 1 and the Thai started slow with preacher showing a better workrate. Round 2 and 3 the Thai increased his workrate throwing strong punches to the head and body. Preacher seemed to coast along in 2nd gear and didnt take it to the Thai. The Thai showboated a bit in the 3rd and took the points win.
David vs French fighter. Great first round from David negating his opponents strong punches with leg kicks, punches and knees. He lost 1 point for very light clinching. David kept up the pressure as the opponent began to tire. During the second and then in the third David fired harder and was really giving it to the opponent, still with all round techniques. There were some great exchanges and this was fight of the night for me. David took the opponents heart and he gave up after being dropped.
There was a few other non Aussie fights, all reasonable, including one where Bill from Hong Kong took out a middle eastern looking fighter by knee ko(looked like that guy Soren cut with an elbow years ago).
All in all a good show, but it started late at about 11pm and finished about 2:30!
