Hi everyone,

Just got off the blower with Tarik and here is the OFFICIAL FIGHT CARD for next week's show... with the SHOCK news that the powers-that-be at the K-1 Corporation headquarters are in such a Japanese-frenzy after Masato's win in the K-1 Max that they are sending Japan's TWO best heavyweights to win through to the final 14 in the world via the SUPERFIGHT and the K-1 Melbourne Tournament!

Japanese superstar Musashi, the always-winner of the tough K-1 Japan tournament and Japanese hotshot Tsuyoshi Nakasako (the first man to ever drop Mark Hunt) will BOTH BE FIGHTING IN MELBOURNE NEXT WEEKEND.

That's right... there will be no Stefan Leko as the Japanese are now invading this final world tournament in a bid for Musashi and Nakasako to replicate Masato's middleweight success at heavyweight.

Here is the card as it stands:

Fight # 1

Boxing 4 x 3
Lance Gosteleow vs TBA

OPENING CEREMONY

Fight # 2
K-1 Max Rules 3 x 3

Mike Cope (NZ/Aust) vs Serkan "The Turkish Samurai" Yilmaz (Turkey)

Fight # 3

Tsuyoshi Nakasako (Jap) vs Jason Suttie (NZ)

Fight # 4
K-1 Melb Quarter Final 2
Auckland Auimitagi (NZ) vs TBA (possible Peck, Thunder or Wissam)

Fight # 5
K-1 Melb Quarter Final 3
Peter Graham (Aus) vs Josip Brodrozic (Cro)

Fight # 6
K-1 Melb Quarter Final 4
Paul Slowinski (Aus) vs Mitch O'Hello (Aus)

5 x 3
Winner Qualifies for Final World 14
CHRIS CHRISOPOULIDIS (AUS) vs MUSAHSI (JAP)

Sounds like a grate card. One question though, how does Tsuyoshi Nakasako qualify for the Oceania K1 final? Is he a wild card entry? That makes 3 fighters from outside the Oceania region fighting. Mayby I've missed somthing.

It's not Oceania... its K-1 World GP Melbourne, making it one of the world qualifying events (just like when Hoost fought here in Melbourne in 2001, same sort of deal)... this means whoever wins the tourney qualifies automatically for the final 14 in the world. This is great for our guys like Peter and Paul (Mary and Joseph, lol, bad joke) who now are only three fights away from Japan instead of winning an Oceania and then having to fight again in another tournament (formerly the K-1 Vegas) to finally get to Japan.

Bob. Why are you lucky you didn't buy tickets, this is still a great fight card. Australia's best taking on the world. Musashi is a K1 war horse against Australia's own war horse Chris Christopolidis. Japan up and commer Nakasako V's New Zealand hard man Jason Suttie. The big name Ozzy big man Peter Graham Fighting Croation Josip Brodrozic. New kid on the heavy weight block Paul Slowinski Taking on Australian kickboxing veteran Mitch "mandingo" O'Hello. I live in South Australia, I wish I was lucky enough to be in melbourn next week so I could go to this show.

P.S. Go Slowinski

I have a great feeling that Masato won't be able to deal with a super aggressive Chris.
Disappointing about Leko, but this show was always about the Oceania guys for me. I can't wait. It's been ages since I've seen Graham in the ring, probably the last time I saw him fight Suttie.

Please fill us in on who the opponent is for fight 4 when you find out guys. Thunder would certainly be an interesting addition, but I'm hoping it will be Peck.
